We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

There were some good posts last night and earlier this morning on yesterday's thread. I think we are all in agreement that what is going on is absolutely appalling. The JA is demeaning our country on a daily basis with his insane tweets. They used to be just bullying and childish, but now they are downright dangerous. Yet, the GOP just stands idly in the corner like a wallflower at the high school dance and does absolutely NOTHING to try and stop this. How can this be? I used to believe that even though politically I strongly disagreed with the GOP as a party, but still the majority of its representatives in Washington did want the best for the country even though they didn't see it in the same way I do. Boy was I naive! They can't possibly want the best for the country, and yet just blindly let this egotistical maniac continue to destroy us. We are no longer looked upon by the rest of the world as being any better than the madman in NK. The world as a whole does not feel safe with either the JA or Kim Jung-Un at the helms of nations. We are no longer revered by others. We are feared as a threat to world stability.

The broken record of repeal Obamacare is spinning again. This time the Graham-Cassidy bill wants to, among other things, put a cap on Medicaid. Really?!! So when a 90 year old requiring skilled nursing care but not having the money to afford it reaches his Medicaid cap is Graham or Cassidy going to take over their care? Maybe that's when those fictitious "death panels" of Sarah Palin's imagination actually will take place? I don't claim to have all the answers, but how can anyone seriously think you can actually put a cap on Medicaid? Are we just going to throw people out into the street?

I do have some good news to share today, something I'm excited about. Taking care of my parents means we can't normally plan anything about our future, even our day to day future. But we do know that at some point we will be moving close to DD and family, which is also the city in TN where our rental properties are. When this move will happen is totally a big question mark, but once at least one of my parents passes on so that one is left alone and/or they require a skilled nursing home we will make the move then moving them to a facility there.
Recently we found a house there that we both really like a lot, that would fit our future needs perfectly, and is in a good location for us. We made an offer on the house which was countered, we countered again (long story), but there was some sort of screw up between the seller and the real estate agent and so we ended up just walking away from the deal. While we were willing to pay what the seller had asked of us IF we were ready to make a move now, we were not willing to pay it at this point not knowing when we will be able to move. Long story short, last night the realtor contacted us and said that the buyer has decided to accept our offer as is. I'm not sure what happened. The realtor had screwed up originally, so I think that they must have cut their commission considerably. Regardless of whatever details they worked out between them, the seller accepted our offer. We agreed to do that even though we had walked away from the deal. I know this is a long story! Anyway, contracts have been signed by all parties now, and it looks like we have a new home. For the foreseeable future, we will use it just for weekends, when we are in town on business, etc. But it's good to know that at least something about our future is settled, and when the time comes we will be ready. It's a beautiful house, and both DH and I think it is a good investment. So I am excited!

Gosh, Joyce, I am so excited for you too. Must have been fate that house was meant to yours. You will never regret moving closer to Grandkids. So, happy for you! 😊...

Thanks Linda! I am really excited. And I do think this is just the right house for us. It's beautiful, we both really like the floor plan, it's conveniently located in a good neighborhood, and it has all the features we were looking for. It just feels right, and it is good to know that when we need to make that move we will be ready. So I have a big smile on my face.
