We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Joyce...I hope your Mom is feeling much better today. Did you soak up all the sweetness of that grandbaby yesterday? Nothing like a child to make one smile & forget the stupid stuff going on in the world. So, now NK thinks we have declared war with JA latest tweet today. ......BREAKING: North Korea foreign minister asserts that Pres. Trump has declared war with his comments; says North Korea has the right to shoot down US bombers. nbcnews.to/2fkA7JsIt's a rainy gloomy day here. The kind of day that just makes me want to sit & drink tea. Hope you have sunshine in your corner of the world.

It's not been a good day here. Thanks for asking about my mom, Linda. She's better, but got a long way to go. Took her back to the doctor this morning, and also took myself to the doctor before taking her. My doctor says I've got to get the stress under control (fat chance!). My mom's doctor is trying more "stuff" to get the UTI under control, and we go back next week. To be honest, I'm emotionally drained right now, and I have no idea what is going on in the world.
Tomorrow I am giving myself a day off. DH has to go out of town on rental business, and I'm going along for the ride. We'll just be gone for the day, but I desperately need a bit of a break.

Sorry if I sound like I'm throwing my own pity party. Lots of people have it far worse than me. Just feeling really tired and discouraged right now. I'll give myself a pep talk and pick up the pom poms to start cheering again soon.

I truly don't get this big hullabaloo because these players are choosing to kneel during the anthem. Personally, I think that's a right guaranteed under the Constitution; but, maybe I could understand better if they were mooning the flag or doing something clearly disrespectful (even though I still think they have the right to do that). But they are kneeling--a pose most of these very same people who are having such a conniption fit about this consider to be a righteous pose of respect when it is done in prayer. So why is this suddenly so offensive here? It really baffles me. The hypocrisy that is rampant throughout this country just makes me depressed. I have people I love too who have fought on the battlefield to defend what that flag represents. For me that means they fought so that everyone has the right to make their own choice as long as that choice does not infringe on the rights of someone else. Well I don't think those players kneeling in anyway infringes on my rights or the rights of anyone else, and I most certainly don't think Draft Dodger Donnie has any room to talk about who or what is being offensive when it comes to patriotism.
