We just got home a little while ago from Walmart. I took Jim there with me and he did a great job getting in and out of the car into the wheelchair. We walked around Walmart, bought a heater for the bedroom since the old one broke and rose food and a DVD for Jim. He had a ball just looking around. I am going to write to the young man at the ranch who is going to install his elevator up the front steps at the beach house. It is time since he can get around a bit now. I already checked the wheelchair at the beach house to make sure it has removable sides which is needed for Jim to slide into it with no legs. If Jim would have his prosthesis fixed to fit his old amputation, then he could use the transport chair which does not have removable arms because his prosthesis would become a pivot pole for him - like having one leg. Harriet: Thanks for posting Nancy's thread probably from Friday and I know about Oscar the Grouch. Sometimes Jim's partial dementia gets to me but most times I just tease him out of it. Not good when I lose my patience and I do pray for patience every day. Sandy: Glad you're not worrying about the 3#'s...I'm sure it is just H2O. As of this morning I was down 1.3 #'s but tomorrow I'll probably be up again...who knows. I'm trying to stay OFF the scales except for once a week. I think my WI day will be Saturday so if I get to go to meetings again it will be the same day. Lucy, Cat and Jenny: Love seeing you here!...didn't see any pictures tho' and I didn't have any luck trying to post a picture from email -- as Jenny tho't. But, if I want to post something, I'll just send it to Cat, or Jenny...or even Lucy....or Phyl. LOL. Nancy: I'm glad you can at least read the posts here. I will continue to look for your's in the morning to add. What color would you like it to be? Let's get into our circle of wagons now and sing our song "WE CAN DO THIS, YES WE CAN...WE CAN LOSE NEW POUNDS...MY THIN FRIENDS!"

Good night, Kathie & # Partners,
Nancy can read here but not post? I didn't understand that part.
Awful day here. No servers this morning (icy roads) so breakfast took forever. Yes, Managers did the waiters' jobs.
It is raining off and on but temperature has gone up to 35. Not sure what the morning will bring.
Jim sounds as if he is willing to move around more and that is a good thing!
Stay safe!

Good morning,
Supposed to start warming up here today so looking forward to that but they also say freezing rain expected and not looking forward to that!
I started thinking about something this morning that probably sounds crazy but in dealing with the freezing cold of winter and the extreme heat of summer I just wonder how our ancestors dealt with having to go out to the outhouse. We so take our indoor plumbing for granted, don't we? Like I said crazy thing to be thinking about!
Nothing going on here today.
Sandy

morning partners, sandy you made my day by making me chuckle about the outhouse. the house we lived In till I was 5 years old had an outhouse. no running water. those winters were cold. I can remember mom taking me out with a flashlight. also remember having a bucket to go In at night. when grandpa died we moved on the hill to live with grandma. we had running water finally. my brother said he was so happy he didn't have to carry buckets of water from grandma's house. I guess the ancestors did the best they could.
we are meeting jim and theresa for lunch. they are In town on business. they want to get back home before it snows to much. we might get a inch. they live 75 miles from here no idea how much they might get.
I better get busy. have a good Monday. phyl

From Nancy:
Kathie what great news to hear that you and Jim had such a good time at Walmart. I do hope things work out at the BH. I know how Jim loved to spend time there each week. I think we all pray for patience each day. I'm not too good in that department either. Any color is good for my post. Thanks.
Cat I don't like to download because then my bank doesn't recognize me. Some day when my DB has a lot of time we'll work on that. He came over yesterday and took me shopping and out to eat. I hate to ask him for too much help at one time. I'm a member of pro boards but won't download so can't post. It is 21 here this am a heat wave!
Phyl I was happy the Packers had such a terrific game. Today I'll walk, dance and attend the monthly birthday party in the community room. Sounds like you're doing great.
Well off to walk and get on with my day. Hope everyone has a great day,
Nancy

We had an outhouse all the years I was at home. There was also a bucket under the bed in bad weather. Usually did not have to get up at night. When my dad's health got so he could not farm they moved to town and had plumbing.
Our ancesters had a 'slop jar' which was the chamber pot. I have one from my mother in law's out house days. I used it tent camping before I got a porta pottie.
Grandma called the outhouse 'the backey'.
When I was a kid I thought people with a bathroom in the house were rich. My maternal grandparents had one. I thought they were rich. LOL

Nancy, I am with Cat. I didn't DOWNLOAD anything. If you have joined, all you have to do is go there and post. I have never messed up my banking with anything. I guess I just don't understand what you are saying. I have had a busy day. Didn't sleep well last night, and Bobby was up at 6 because he wanted to be first in line to get the car inspected. I took my walk, fell back in bed for a rest, went to a training session on our safer aging system, ate lunch, and then the weight class. On the scales from last to this week, I was down 5.8# but we know that isn't real. I had on different clothes, had been to the bathroom, and did not eat lunch like last week. I figure I was down 3#. I must stay focused. I will track, exercise, and drink my water.
Cat, we have real staffing problems when we have bad weather, especially of the proportions we had last year. Some staff stay here, they serve buffets, and the menu is limited. Not looking forward to that. Now I must dress for dinner. I am sure the scales will be up in the morning, because the cup of soup I had at lunch WAS FULL OF SALT. We can do it, yes we can.

I don't know what Nancy downloads so I cannot help her.
Harriet, you understand my way of life!!! LOL. Living in a retirement community is different. Bottom line, at night we are safe and that is worth it.
Might be naptime here!
