Just wondering. I know the old site had a section for those doing programs other than WW. IIRC, it was poorly attended. I'm doing Jenny Craig right now, backed up by calorie counting. I also do a lot of meals on my own (quaintly referred to as MOMO's on JC), again backed up by calorie counting. Full-on JC is a fucking budget buster. Lost 10.5 pounds since December 29th. Yes, you heard that right---I started BEFORE New Year's Day. Disgusted and couldn't see any reason not to put a cap on the feeding frenzy. Anyone else doing anything else?

WTG fullmahina !! That is fantastic! The "Calorie Counting" board was deleted back in October, it had one thread and that hadn't been posted to in months. Everyone figures OnPlan as being whatever plan they are on. Feel free to post anywhere! * WW & MFP

Deb, I had to do something. I had done JC in the past and it is pretty damn effective. It works because it imposes massive portion control. To put it simply, I could not be trusted with allotting myself portions appropriate for a human being. Even with the MOMO's, I often am doing portion-controlled grocery foods. If not, I weigh and measure maniacally. As most of us know, any half-way decent weight loss program works if we follow it. The trick is following it. No JC "consultant" for me, either. I order the food online and it arrives unceremoniously, plopped by my garage. Frankly, I have no patience for the repetitive "Are you facing any challenges this week?"-type conversations with the well-meaning but tiresome "consultants." JC is fine with this. Of course they are, as long as you are buying their food, lol. So here I go again, and again determined to make it my last journey. Feels better this time, somehow. Accountable only to myself, able to weigh myself buck nekkid any time I want, no need to face a human who knits their eyebrows in practiced sympathy when the scale shows a gain.

Fullmahina, I'm glad you find something that is working for you. I've been eating Lean Cuisines once in a while on weekends when my guys go for fast good runs. So far it's helping. Preportioned meals can help with variety and reigning in portion control. But now that my son is prediabetic along with DH all that has got to go, pronto.
I'm doing MFP too. My daughter introduced me to it after I plateaued multiple times. I was eating way too many calories for my new size, even if it was healthy food on SP. I need to watch sodium, carbs, and sugars (I had prediabetes). And the challenges there are more real and quiet. Every journal entry for the day, nutrient requirement met, or fitness entry, etc. gets quietly tallied. If you get a like, its nice. I have a lot of friends there. And the forums can be a total riot. But they will never be like here! 😄

I'm using Lose It to track calories. So far so good, down 3 lbs since January 1. I stopped going to WW meetings because of the cost. I loved my leader and the meeting members. I'm still part of the FB page for the meeting so at least I can keep up with everyone!

I'm calorie counting on LoseIt. My weight crept up a little in 2016 so I have a few pounds to get back off and am back in losing mode. It sucks. But I've lost 2 pounds since Jan 2, which is a good rate of loss for me.
Some of the premade food programs are somewhat appealing to me, especially since I cook just for myself and it sounds so easy to not have to plan meals, weigh and measure, etc. I've heard really bad stuff about the grossness of Nutrisystem food but haven't heard much about Jenny Craig. Do you like the food?

I am tracking on MFP, although not very diligently I am sad to report. I need to get in the groove of something. I am thinking about going back to WW, there is a meeting here at work. I like the accountability of the meetings and support. Since as much as I have tried, I don't think I can do it alone.
But I do need to watch my calorie input not just points and I have to watch my sodium, something that WW does not provide in their NI.
So I am kinda at a loss at where to go from here other than suck it up buttercup and go back to WW and track my own calories and sodium.

I'm sort of still off the wagon, I'm afraid. But the diet I was following and will will be a low"ish" carb diet that a dietitian prescribed a long while back. Basically I must try to stay within 60 grams net carbs per day, 50 grams fat and 60-80 grams protein (the protein amount is pretty generous). I also count the calories but don't have a restriction on that, but usually if I stay at 60 net grams carbs and 50 grams fat per day the calorie counts are fairly low (between 1000-1200 calories per day).
I'm not overly fond of low carb diets, but 2 doctors tell me to watch them because of my triglycerides.

I know boxed/frozen food gets the wrath of fury here at times but I firmly believe it is great way to get things moving. I used to cringe when people would say "don't do something you can't do the rest of your life."
For some that *may* be true, but I tend to give people more credit than that. I think they can figure out the difference between drastic measures and learning to maintain. Circumstances change for everyone and you have to do what works for YOU to get you where you want to be.
It isn't about learning to eat "real food" the reality is frozen portion controlled food has been around for decades and it isn't going anywhere. It is quick and makes dieting a no-brainer, win/win. Good luck everyone!

I am mostly following SP with the old GHG. I track daily on MFP because I need the nutrient breakdown, especially sodium. When I can, I double track on the WW site since I have free etools. Because of how I like to eat most of the time, I am consistently under points but usually hit my calorie goal for the day. Eating out is what kills me points wise even with good choices.

Do you like the food? WC I really do like a lot of the food. I actually look forward to many of their items. Their small but powerful chocolate cheesecake is something I would order at a restaurant. The portions are appropriately miniscule, of course, but that goes with the territory. They like newbies to order their planned menus, which include their snacks, shakes, and other extras, but being a JC veteran I order what I know I like and it's not a problem. I had an old membership which they honored and only had to pay $36 to rejoin for the year. "Join for $___! (plus the price of food)." Well, yeah, the price of food. According to their website, the cost of food is $15-23/day. The variation comes into play when you order shelf-stable food vs their frozen items. You add your own fruit, veggies, etc. I tried NutriSystem (the shelf-stable boxed week-o-stuff from Walmart) and it was pretty uniformly awful. JC food is worlds better than NS. There are no cups of dry mix that you have to add water to (with the exception of the oatmeal cup), no pancake mixes to put together. No assembly required for anything at JC. More expensive too, needless to say. You can easily sub the breakfasts and many of the snacks to ease the financial hit. There is really no need to spend $3.49 for a container of JC oatmeal, for example. I found very comparable Nature's Path oatmeal packets at Costco---32 packets for less than $10. The one big thing I love about the JC stuff is that it is significantly lower in sodium than items from the grocery store that may seem similar (Lean Cuisine, WW). I need that, and it's why I dropped such a huge amount of weight so quickly. I am slowing down now, of course, but it was a nice kick in the butt to start off the New Year. When you boil it all down, JC is calorie counting done for you. There is a teensy bit of wiggle room and they encourage you to use your JC "exchanges" (a PIA system that I don't bother with---calorie counting is enough for me) when you add food or beverages on your own. For me, it's 1200 calories and done. I check my intake analysis on my CC site when I'm done and try to tweak for better nutrition and that's it. BTW, if you think the WW online tracking is bad, don't even look at the JC online tracking site. I think they hired the IT people that couldn't cut it at WW.

I always wonder how people do Jenny Craig (watching the commercials, it seems all meals are provided) and cook meals for their family too. I would love to try other diets - but my husband is so picky and I already cook him separate side dishes. If hubby was not an issue, I'd be eating a LOT more vegetarian dishes.
Just curious... and I did see your MOMO comment too.

I am more of a portion person - I need that full feeling. I often save 3 or 4 points for late at night and will often take a bag of popped popcorn to bed with me while watching late night TV before going to sleep.

I do not have an issue with the boxed/frozen foods, my only problem is the sodium count on them. I do enjoy the frozen Smart Ones, Lean Cuisines for lunch but I can't eat them due to too much sodium.

My kids are grown and gone. My husband is really particular about his food likes but easy to please, if that makes sense. For the last 35 years I've often been making food for myself and something different for him. I do prepare food for him in addition to the JC food for me and that's fine with both of us. He's okay with leftovers too, so that helps. He knows how to reheat stuff and also has no problem putting together a meal for himself, lol. He's super supportive of my dieting efforts and he was the one who gently suggesting doing Jenny Craig again, as it had worked well for me in the past. Actually, straight calorie counting had worked the very best for me but I was too out of control, portion-wise, to handle that this time. All JC meals are microwaveable, although I put some of them in the toaster oven. So if you can control the sampling while you're cooking for others, it certainly could work.
