We got the hard sell from a salesman at Sur la Tsblr when we were in SF. Knew better than to buy from him but when I look on Amazon there are so many types. It is heavy, nonstick and comes in many sizes. I have one pan for sautéing etcx that has a long handle and one on the pan, but do I need another pan? I forgot to mention I have 6 frying pans different sizes, materials.

jamescat1 , Been there, done that, Audrey. I don't remembe where I bought mine. I bought the CTX line because it was/is the only one compatible with induction cooking and I was planning on getting an inducton cooktop eventually (which I did earlier this year). The first disappointment I had was in the instructions that came with the pans: never use them on heat higher than medium. The second disappointment was that the non-stick surface didn't hold up. The final disappointment was that food burned in them easily and I ended up ruining the sizes I used most. Sometime last year, after a class at Sur la Table, I looked at pans and bought a two-pack of non-stick frying pans under their own brand name. They were cheap, like $79 or less for the pair, and they have been stellar. They are also induction compatible. And I figure for the price difference I can replace them a number of times for the cost of one ScanPan, let alone a set of them.

You're welcome. I primarily use Calphalon stainless steel, which is induction compatible, a joy to cook with, and easy to clean. I picked up a bunch of pieces at their factory outlet in Gilroy on Black Friday 3 or 4 years ago; sadly, the closed their outlet stores shortly thereafter. But they do sell direct from the web site and have some stuff on sale there now. I wanted another saucepan with drainer lid and found they make one; best deal was Bed Bath and Beyond online using a current 20% off coupon: $24 plus tax and free shipping for a 1.5-quart. Calphalon also makes non-stick.

I have a 14” Scanpan with a glass cover that I bought online thru Sur La Table one time when it waS discounted. Best pan I’ve ever owned. It’s heavily endorsed by a lot of users over on ProBoards new GDT.
Then I was looking at a griddle pan we’ve had for years and really like. And I noticed it too is a Scanpan.
