Hi!
Snow started late morning today and has been going on all day, started sticking a couple of hours ago.
Cooked some chicken at a bare simmer and made some stock, smelled so good.
Another lb down! Clothes are definitely feelling better.
Joan, any interest on your dishware yet?
Jojo, after the learning curve you are going through with the knitting, the next time will be easier. I'll be able to get internet service so I'll keep in touch while away! Glad the brace is working out for you.
Not much going on, household chores, did some more online shopping, gym.

Good morning! Beautiful sunny crisp day here today. Hearing about all the snow—-brr. JoAnne, one of my former employees—last secretary—is in Atlanta and posted a picture with all the snow—-that was amazing. Did it stick or melt off?
Wow, Susan Harvey turned 60 this week and did a sky dive—-she posted pictures of herself with the guide way up high over Texas! I think it would be so fun if you didn’t have to leap from the plane and if you knew for sure it would not jolt you on the landing.
Sue, not one bite on my dishes—-thinking I will have to donate them all but DSIL is coming on the 21st and he knows how to do ebay so we will figure out shipping costs and run an ad there and see what happens.
Just finished my cappacinno — love being able to make my own—such a nice little luxury and in 8 more months i will have paid for my machine by making them for myself!
last night we went over to Jordan’s apt. And took our old Apple TV and an HDMI cable —Jordan’s brother bought a tv way back when they moved into the small apt after his dad died but they could not afford cable so it is never used—so they brought it out in the living room, which is basically Jordan’s bedroom, and we set it all up and we put them on our Netflix account so they can watch movies occasionally and not pay anything—-got their iphones set up as remotes so everyone can easily run it. I am so proud of them—they have next to nothing, but now they are all going to school—-Justin, the 25 yr old works days now and goes to night school and after two years will be certified as an airplaine engine maintenance technician. He says all he does now is work and study. Jonathan the middle brother is working as a tutor and going to UNLV, and Jordan, carrying 15 college credits and two high school courses is going into finals next week with straight A’s—so proud of him! They are going to climb out of this poverty hole in the end==Justin said when he gets done he is going to get a job at the airport and then start college cause the other two will be further along—he thinks he’d like to take engineering—he too, is very bright but didn’t get a chance to go since the dad got sick and needed his help to support them. I am hoping Jordan doesn’t lose medicaid—he will if the tax bill goes through—so I need to make him an appt.for an eye exam really soon so that he can update his prescription and get glassses before that could happen
DD’s long distance boyfriend is in town till tomorrow and his daughter who now lives in CA is here, too, so we are going out to lunch early before they head back—thinking they will regret having lunch out instead of breakfast as the drive from Vegas to CA is bruital with traffic every Sunday afternoon and night!

Hi all,
Went to church this morning. We still have some snow left on the ground. That was an unexpected treat. If we get snow, we usually get it in January or February.
I have to work tonight. I’m taking Tuesday off in exchange. My class wraps up on Monday.
JoJo, I haven’t even attempted socks or a hat yet. Someone told me that socks are notas hard to make as they appear. I’m getting ready to start a cowl, which requires knitting in the round.

Hi!
Had a nice quiet weekend, football last night was a high of making the playoffs and a low of losing our MVP QB for the rest of the season. Holly, I was rooting for the Panthers, lol.
Lost another lb! Already thinking about ways that I can add a little more carbs and still lose. There is fruit, yogurt and some bread in this diet though, not like other ones without any fruit/dairy.
Joan, you have done amazing things with Jordan's family, really helped to change their future lives for the better! So things are going well with DD and BF?
Holly, nice to have day off midweek
Jojo, I think you got more snow than we did here.
Wow, I don't think I would do sky diving, I have fear of heights. I remember when a large company bought out her DHs company and he had to adjust to new boss, can't believe he's retired, time flies.
Had to try and get exemption to get my mail order pills before the official refill date because I'm afraid I might not get it in time before I leave on my trip. A little over 3 weeks from now!

It is only 8 pm here and I am feeling as tho I cannot keep my eyes open! Last night I went to bed at 8:30 and fell right to sleep—-no idea why.
Sue, DD and her BF are doing well—she said it gets harder saying goodbye each time—but he will be back the first week in Jan.
I have been working on the quilt panels for applique non stop—other than gym—then last night discovered that the freezer paper patters I have been making will flip the pictures, which is okay for 3 of them but one cannot be flipped as it has the plane towing the message which really needs to go across the panel from right to left so the writing is right. So the three hours I spent copying that panel twice and cutting the background layer patterns is wasted—will have to do them over in reverse. Ugh. Tonight tho I decided after organizing all my papers to store till after Christmas, to try making an applique—-sketched a fish quickly and using the freezer paper method created an applique and applied it to a little block—I was shocked as it looked really good——-however it sobered me up on how hard some of the tiny pieces are going to be! But I think it is doable.
We are not going to CA after Christmas as we usually do—-sort of relieved as I think I just want to get back to the quilt—I feel as tho I am on a roll and need to keep the momentum going this time. Also I’d like to hit the gym and food control really hard before leaving for MX on the 20th of december.
Could not believe all the snow back in Buffalo last weekend—my friend was supposed to fly back there today and now has canceled as she is so worried about getting caught in that mess—she is originally from there and says that that lake effect snow can happen and everything is crippled.
I made herbal tea and it tastes so good and nice to have something warm after dinner.
Sue, you will be leaving so very soon! Do you have your wardrobe all figured out? You have not said much about SO lately—is he doing well, health wise? Emotionall? Wasn’t it his mom and brother that died this past year?
DH ordered an electric heating mat for Tanzi(Sidney is using our other one as he sleeps in the guest room and it is chilly in there on the north side of the house.) and she is in her cardboard box she likes on that mat just cozy as can be. She won’t come out here with me—still afraid Sidney might come out of nowhere.
Holly, do you get winter break days off?
JoAnne, did you mean that your older grandson who you’ve not heard from in a long time is coming? I have been meaning to ask you that!
Tomorrow will be gone most of the day—classes at the gym, nails and a massage. My nails just are a mess this time as I extended the time between manicures by nearly a week—just to fit it in closer to Christmas.

Hi!
Volunteered on Tues and basically have been busy getting ready for trip (buying things), in addition to regular house stuff and gym every day.
Made a second call to mail order pharmacy, last guy I talked to told me there was no over ride to get my refills earlier than the refill date, and I had to pay extra for expedited delivery, 1 month bridge prescription from my dr to a local pharmacy, etc, etc. Stupid guy! The woman I talked to a day later got me a refill override and now it's on the way. I knew the first guy didn't know what he was doing or was just being a pain.
Joan, you are a morning person and do some much during the day no wonder you are exhausted by 8. Glad things are going well for DD and BF I forget is the Mexico trip for a wedding? I mostly have clothes figured out for trip, but I've been looking online for some new things.
SO is fine, painting and puttering. No social things going on the past 2 weeks because of my diet, it ends on Sun, but I want to still keep losing.
I have a hair appointment tomorrow, and soon will get my mani/pedi before the trip. A new place just opened up down the street and my neighbor said it was very good.

Oh, yesterday I ordered magnetic false lashes, lol. Much easier than the glue on type and less maintenance/scary than extensions.

Magnetic eyelashes? WHat attracts them? I am so far away from up to date that I did not know what threading was—-just learned from the girls over Thanksgiving.
I had my first hula class today—-the hula teacher is Tony and he was the most fun person I’ ve ever taken a class from. The dancing was great. Today was the one year ago day that my friend Jean, my secretary, died—this hula class was her favorite class and teacher and a few years ago some woman griped about Tony —said his humor was offensive—and they let him go—well a few petitions and years later he is back as of today—-and he was wonderful. Jean was always so mad they had let him go as were all the others. Well after he introduced us to several dances, he danced a special hula for us and it suddenly hit me so hard—-just fell apart and didn’t recover for about an hour. He danced this beautiful dance about footprints in the sand and it felt as tho it were being done just for Jean. It was so beautiful. But very emotional for me. Really hit me out of the blue.
I am loving the The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Hi all, I have been so lazy about the yard lately. Just too cold to get out there but it needs clean up so bad with the snow and all. I have been glued to my chair with the learning to knit stuff.
Joan - thinking of you and your quilts when I put my mom's quilt on my bed last night. It was made for her when she got married. In the 60's she took a class in repair of old quilts and did a super job repairing it and making it usable. My DMIL did lap quilting and made Christmas quilts for everyone one year. I love the one she did for me -it is very light and just right for this climate.
I'm behind for the day and need to go prepare lunch or DH will be up here soon asking about it. BBL

Hi!
Been busy shopping, online and in the city. Had to go to the jewelers to send my watch off for new battery, of course it died right before the trip. They promised I'd get it before my trip. Bought a pair of platform Vans yesterday!
Last day of diet was yesterday, this morning was120.4, down from high of 128.8 when I first started. I'm going to add a little more carbs, but will still stay with higher protein.
Got my hair cut, and also made an appt for keratin treatment with my hairdresser. I'm a little nervous, I have very thin but frizzy hair and I don't want to lose too much volume. He said he could do a lighter kertatin treatment.
Joan, sorry you're missing your friend so much, bittersweet to have those memories.
Jojo, sounds like you are really getting into knitting, you will be a pro in no time. SO's mom was really into quilting, and would make quilts for the entire family as gifts often.
Have a big pot of chicken simmering for chicken soup. I'm going to add some red lentils to it. Tonight I'm going to have one glass of red wine!

Wow, 8 pounds in two weeks—-amazing. I wish I were able to force myself into doing that but I really don’t have the will power to go it that tough on myself!
Such a quick but fun visit to the girls in CA to see the Nutcracker—DGD17 did an awesome job in the Russian dance—-she got all 12 turns in both times and in yesterdays’ performance the audience started clapping the rhythm of it spontaneously—-in the one I personally saw they broke out in spontaneous applause during the first set of turns—-so fun to see that. She was sparkling. DGD13 loved her parts—her first real ballet full performance—she was in the snow queen dance and the flowers—looked so elegant and beautiful. They will get here Thurs night and stay till 26th and drive back. Now I am feeling sad that we are not going but yet I know it makes good sense. In 3 weeks we will have to leave for MX—-not a wedding, Sue, just a week at an all inclusive with our Canadian friends and BF’s.
BF’s 50th anniversary is next fall and they are taking their whole family on a cruise—decideing today on which one. DH told me that BF’’s DH asked him this weekend if we would join the family—-it will be over THanksgiving—-will be a kid crowded cruise for sure—-and pricey probably. We will see what they choose and probably end up going unless they choose a Princess one which I just will not do. Heard too many bad stories about those.
Still need a gift for DGS13–about 40$ or so—no clue what I will do. Also have nothing to send to DGS12 and DS Park Ranger—-well, have for DS and DDIL but not for my youngest grandson because what I ordered won’t be delivered until day after—ugh!
DS in SLC is going to Costa Rica to see bio dad so will mail him a package when they get back—gives me a chance to do it all post-Christmas!
Body sculpt and dance this morning—then to store to get rest of stuff for making lasagna, back here to clean out freezer and cook and make a batch of ginger cookies.

Hi all,
It’s quiet around here. The semester is over and the students have left. I get a week and a half off. We’ll go back on the 2nd.
I really need to get back to exercise.
I’m on a knitting kick. Mainly charity and gifts, but someone asked me to make them some of the peace washcloths to use as gifts, so I will be working on that all week. It’s funny bacause they asked me right as I was looking up how to set up an Etsy shop.
Sue, wow, great on the weight. Keratin was too expensive to maintain, but it did really make a difference with the frizz. I use Shampoo/Conditioner called Crazy Smooth that works well.
Joan, how about a gift card?
JoJo, I have been glued to my chair also. Started watching Stranger Things.

Typed a whole post yesterday and accidentally hit some key that caused it to leave this site and I could never find the post again so gave up disgusted!
Holly, I sort of promised myself no gift cards this year—-it feels so impersonal—-and I really wanted to just get surprises for everyone instead of asking if there is a list—it all feels so mechanical anymore. But since he wears uniforms to school he does not need much in the way of clothes. I need to look and see if there is any new fun game or something out there. It is a shame that kids have so much—makes it really hard to “gift” them anymore. He has a fancy, fast racing type remote control car but I am getting new tires for it and I don’t think he needs anything else. Thinking I will enroll him in the LV Astronomy club and make a coupon book to take him out for night telescope viewing which I think he would love because he is totally into astronomy and wants to pursue that field in college (thinking he may actually stick with the idea as it has been his thing for several years.) But that would take no money.
They are going skiing after the holiday—maybe I’ll ask DD if there is some ski gear he could use an update on.
Baked 7 doz ginger cookies yesterday and today i am making one of the lasagnas and will freeze it. Have to make up a plate of goodies for the gym staff for tomorrow, write out a couple cards and finish the letter I am giving to all my kids with the book Being Mortal.
Lots today before kids come Thurs night—tomorrow have to take Jordan to dentist, gym classes, and get hair cut and colored. Will take all day.
Holly, I heard that series was good. I finished the Mrs Maisel season one and absolutely loved it. Now I started watching season 2 of The Crown which is really excellent. Probably won’t be watching for a while now.
Sue I can not get over your weight loss!
I won’t be losing over holidays—-have had two cookies today—and while I wil track it I am going to enjoy having tastes—just going to manage not to binge. After the 25 I can get back on a bit more rigid plan with very limited sugar—-then I will have three weeks to drop a couple more pounds before going to MX. Feel a bit sad that we are leaving the day before the 2018 Women’s March cause my little group plans to do it again. Maybe BF and I will have out own march in MX.
Cleaned out the freezer yesterday and tossed some things that had made their way to the bottom and were over two years in there!

Hi Raining here. Had DH’s Biblestudy group and wives for dinner and Christmas party last night. I made chicken and rice and pumpkin pie. Others were to bring sides.. DH did the inviting since it was his group and did not do a very good job of letting them know what I was making. Another couple brought brocolli casserole with hi hen and rice! And another brought brocolli salad! But there was also green beans and apple pie - so we were ok! I had appetizers with spinach adanother with cheese and cranberries both in philo dough. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves despite the excess rice, chicken, and brocolli!
Joan. - yes it is my DGS from Colorado who is 22 now, that is coming in SAt. He wItedso long to get his ticket that it cost $750 ! An expensive Christmas gift But glad to have e again says he will start school in Jan. We will see! That boy really needs to get his life together!
Sue - you really have done magnicant on the wt loss. It seems amazing you do it so fast. When is you trip to start
Holly- DH wanted to buy me clothes for Christmas. I asked him no to as I have no real need but want a wooden set of knitting needles and they are so expensive. I have a chrome set now. He agreed , so they will arrive the 29th. I’ m. Excited!
Lazy today. I spent all day yesterday cleaning house and getting ready for the party..

Hi!
Been busy getting organized for trip. Today we have to go get yellow fever vaccination, out in the suburbs. Apparently, there is a shortage and the only place that has it is outside the city! Actually, it is in the hospital where my ob/gyn is so I know it well.
Weight up a couple lbs, knew that would happen after the diet ended, water weight.
Jojo, sounds like you had a good dinner party with your DH's group. Chicken and rice sounds yummy! Do you use a cream of soup for sauce?
Joan, your DGDs are amazing with their dancing! Will the older one pursue that professionally in the future? Did your friends figure out which cruise they will go on? I love our cruise line.
Holly, enjoy your break from school! Love Stranger Things.
SO and I are not really getting each other anything for Christmas, we've been buying things for the trip and there's nothing we can think of to buy each other, lol. I might just get him some bottles of scotch or nice wine.
So I realized that it's been a week and I haven't received my mail order prescription. I called last night and apparently the woman I spoke to missed checking off something in the vacation override and the whole thing was voided! Ugh! So the person I spoke to went through the whole process again and expedited it, and I got an email notice today that it is on the way. Good thing I contacted them again!
