Welcome to our 2017 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 23 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have about 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2018 feeling great! 2018!!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know betterβ¦.HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

Good morning my friends! I was AF and got a blue dot, but did not get my steps in. It's hard to get them in when you are holding a baby! π
I loved being with her. She finally smiled at ME!! π She had a fussy day because she had a big poop coming!! But she was a good girl and saved it for her daddy! lol Its amazing how fast you fall totally in love with them!! What a blessing!!
Today is my first day of introducing Freestyle. And yes, Jan, I have been on it for about 6 weeks. In spite of our trip to Nashville and Thanksgiving which I totally blew with too much A, I have lost 4 pounds. I believe again!! I can do this in spite of menopause and medications. And so can everyone here!

Good morning all! It's supposed to start raining today and bring in some cooler weather. Guess what I'm fixing for supper?? Yep SOUP! LOL I have ingredients out to fix a small pot of veggie beef soup. Meat is already cooked so it won't need to cook long. I could have thrown stuff in the crock pot this morning but like Amy, I overslept a bit!
Amy - there is always something exciting about a new fresh start right?
GG - Makes me smile to hear the love in your post about snuggling with that baby! 4 pounds is fabulous! Can't wait to hear all the success stories!
Helen - so glad to have you back! 2 new girlfriends from church are just 40 and it kills me to watch them eat! Both are so slim and trim!
I didn't sleep too great last night (probably led to the oversleeping!) and I'm feeling like a Miss Crankypants this morning! Time to adjust my tiara and get in a better mood! Love you all! Murphy

Good morning everyone!
I want a fresh start too, but I don't see it happening with 3 dinner/parties this week. I am shooting for AIM and hoping to keep it low carbs. Tonight is the office early dinner at a BBQ smokehouse, not my favorite, but have to be a team player. Thursday, Christmas party, and then the best for last on Friday night. We pitched in and rented a party bus to tour all of Boston's lights, there will be plenty of finger foods and A on the bus. We tried to gets tickets for the Trolley Tour of Boston lights but it was sold out in September! Actually ours will be more fun with plenty of room on the bus.
So excited, hearing that JJ & Helen will coming back to the board, yay!!

GG~Woohoo for a blue dot day. So what is this Freestyle like?
Murphy~I haven't made a beef soup in a very long time, will have to try this weekend. I hate people that can chow down and not gain a pound, lol!
Jan~I ordered my red yarn and waiting for it to come in. Did you go onto the AHA site for hat patterns? I found mine there.

Good morning all. Love seeing everyone checking in. I know we can all do this and 2018 will be our year:) Got my 11,000+ steps yesterday, had a nice lunch and visit with my friend. Bought some fun Disney things for the Angel tree at the mall, for a 4 year old boy. So easy to buy toys for Christmas when they are young, not so easy for Big Boys/DS! Looked everywhere for some red outside bows to put on the front lights of the house....uggh. Nothing. I used to get them at Walmart, now they just have the velvety kind and they are smaller. The hunt will continue!! Today is pack a few more boxes, sort more books and clothes, thrift donation and knitting. Also try for some steps and will get my Blue dot!!
GG Hope your meeting go well. Good to hear you lost on the plan, even with some side tracks!! Yay for baby Rylee, saving her "present" for dad!!!
Amy yay for tracking. Hope you get your sleep schedule figured out. I would like to oversleep one day......just a nice sound sleep until 6:30 or so! Once my brain wakes up, or the strange dreams start, I just get up and stop fighting it.
Murphy Have you adjusted your tiara!! Lol, that made me smile, it is all about the attitude, fake it til you make it! Your soup sounds yummy!
Liz So good to see you here, have you been walking your building much? How has your knee been doing? I finished my first red hat, now working on some Christmas projects and then will get back to them.
Helen Yay for getting back on the board and on track. Are you doing WW on line? Good time to get back and see the new program. Glad you had an amazing time with your niece. When do you go to England again?
Carole When does DD get home from school? Does she have off until the middle of Jan? DS has @ 6 weeks off but he'll probably have to go back for work. Hope he's home a week or 2, and then maybe we'll just take a trip to the coast for a few days!!

Hi all, Yesterday was SF, AF and Binge free also. I tracked the entire day on my phone- I used to be a paper tracker. I'm tracked so far. My school doesn't go on break until Christmas. We have a full day on the 22nd (Friday before Christmas). That is going to be the LONGEST day!. Then we come back on Tuesday the 2nd. I'm glad to have off anytime I can get, I know so many people that only have that day. DH is one of them, he goes right back to work the next day. So I really should not complain, I am blessed....but I would always like a few more days Off to go grocery shopping.

Hello friends! Winter is here! It's very windy again. I took angel for a short walk. I did the stair climber and a battle ropes/kettle bell class.
Amy, do you have to stay on the sidewalk in the morning?
Jan, I'm picking up dd next wednesday! I can't wait. Im not sure when she has to go back. We're going downtown on the 15th to putz around.
Murphy, I'm making chili tonight!
