!Alcohol Free All the Way
Welcome to our 2017 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 23 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have about 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2018 feeling great! 2018!!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

Hi all, Went over points yesterday, but still tracked it! Went to the pub for supper and had a diet coke-so AF! Weighed out 3 ounces of Deer bologna. So I had a snack but was Binge Free! Did have 1 cigarette. But did not have one in the car this morning so I'm making progress. Jan-good luck continuing packing and cleaning. amyj,-Thaks for all the support. Ths thread has been really good for me. I will have one drink tonight. Business Christmas party on Saturday- will have one glass of dry red wine (probably Merlot). That way I look like I'm joining in, but I can't drink that fast and I'm normally not overly tempted to have another. This is an old trick from a professor on how to handle alcohol at conferences. Have a great Friday everyone

Not watching Addi today! Yay! But I have a long list of things I want to accomplish. I just ordered her a recordable bear for Christmas. I always sing I love you a bushel and a peck to her and it's HER special song. When I was holding her at the church program the other night, she said sing me my song Grandma. So I was singing it in her ear. I'm going to record it for her so she can hear it any time she wants.
Amy: I love all the thoughts you post each day!
Jan: Its so hard to throw away the kids artwork. I had stuff from when I was a little girl that I kept when we cleaned out Mom's house!! Lol Good job with AIM!
Carole: Such awesome news about Tyler! Is Xaviar where DD goes?
Murphy: Yoo-hoo. Is everything ok?
HPeterson: when I quit smoking, there is no way I could have had even 1!!! Good plan for the party!
Hi to all that follow. Off to my list!

Happy Friday friends, hope you get done everything you have planned for the day and weekend. I had fun at the party last night, had my wine early so I had plenty of time to be safe to drive. After a wine I made a concoction of sprite zero and red grapefruit juice!!! Yum! The girls were having grapefruit martinis or something. I'll have to post a pic of my friend squeezing tons of fresh grapefruit!! Had some yummy apps, stayed out of the mac and cheese and the rum cake. Always too many yummy treats. Will take my WI tomorrow and just start my new freestyle with where ever my weight is and move on. Will be sad to leave so many girl friends, but we really are all doing our own thing now, we all have kids the same age but being past play dates and parties we only get together a few times a year. Also fun to hear how many of them have family in the mid west and often are out near where we'll be living. So it's not Good Bye, it's ta ta for now Today is onwards and more work here. I will go buy some large plastic tubs for packing, many things were not fitting in the square moving boxes. Also plan to wrap and pack all my presents that need to be mailed. Should keep me out of trouble for the day!! Make it a good one. Pray for the folks in California that are being evacuated again!! DS wants to drive down to DIsneyland next week for a few days to celebrate he and GF being done with the semester and their birthdays, I am not keen on the idea....we'll see. Hugs to all. Amy I too look forward everyday to seeing your morning message, thanks. Hope you have a restful, happy weekend. Done decorating? Carole Yay for Tyler. I know it can be tough for kids to play sports and do their school work, sure he will work hard and do great!! Hpeterson Good for you having a plan. For my Weight I know it would be better for me to be AF, but for where I am right now in my head, Being AIM and having a plan has been helping. Are you doing WW officially? Online or meetings? or just tracking food etc. GG Good to have a day to get things done. Love that you sing bushel and a peck, I could hear my mom singing when I read that. I"ve found quite a few treasures while I've been cleaning out, was easier to let go of many of DS things, not my mom or dad's letters or notes! Murphy Hope you have a nice weekend, any plans? Thinking of you Helen, Liz and Cindy!

Hello friends! What a day I had! I took angel for a walk in the morning and got locked out of the house, the garage door opener thing wouldn't work. It was 17 degrees! I didn't have my phone because the battery dies when it's that cold. Thank God my friend was home. She insisted on texting tyler, to see if he had keys. I said he doesnt, well he did! Poor angel had to go in the back yard for an extra 30 minutes or so while she drove me to the high school. Later I went to woodfield mall to run an errand for diane, my contact was bugging me, I ended up ripping it so now I'm down to one eye!
Amy, I also love the thoughts you post. Have a wonderful beach walk!
Gg, Alexis goes to university of iowa, she is not happy that he's not following her there, although she's happy he's playing ball.
Jan, the girls I hang around with--mom's gone wild--I thought we'd be tight forever but I feel us kind of slipping away from each other.
Hpeterson, I think that's a good 1 drink plan.
