!Alcohol Free All the Way
Welcome to our 2017 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 23 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have about 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2018 feeling great! 2018!!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

TGIF!!!
Still cold this morning, but it's getting warmer in the afternoon. It's been a busy week, and the weekend can't come too soon.
Went to the dermatologist after work for a checkup. He didn't find anything to biopsy, but did zap and freeze a few areas.
The goal for the weekend is to finish up online Christmas shopping.

Good morning and happy Friday! I was so happy to get home from work yesterday and am hoping that today will be a little smoother! I did get the freezers inventoried last night so I can start making up a menu plan for the next couple of weeks. I also got out my snowmen dishes for a little Christmas cheer!
Amy - so glad you didn't need to have anything biopsied! Along with my usual doctor's appointments, my goal for 2018 is to make an appointment with a dermatologist. No areas I'm worried about but I figure at my age I better get checked! Too many sunburns as a child! I am so happy that I am through with my Christmas shopping! Come to think of it, I did Every. Single. Bit. of my shopping on-line this year!!
hpeterson - I am currently a social worker at a dialysis clinic and I've been here almost 9 years. I've done a little bit of everything in my career. Child protective services, sex abuse investigations, Veteran's Administration, Intensive Care Nursery, Community Mental Health, Hospice, adoption (wow that is a lot! LOL) I hope to be able to retire in the next 3 or 4 years but will have to see what health care is available to decide if I have to work till I'm 65.
Carole - YAY for Alexis being home! Enjoy the lights today!
Jan - I didn't say congrats on sending the money to the title company! That makes it real!!
GG - I'm tickled to hear you are still doing First 5! I think of you every morning when I'm doing mine!
No big plans for today. I think I'll go ahead and get my laundry done tonight. The choir is caroling tomorrow evening but I don't really have anything else planned for the weekend. I think I'll come up with some kind of organizing project to get into! Everyone have a blessed day! Murphy

Hello friends! So Diane put herself back into the hospital yesterday. I don't even know if I told you she has done this twice in the last 2 months. after the 1st time in the hospital she went to a rehab place--she sent herself to the ER from that rehab center (she didn't like it) Got into the rehab center she wanted, called Jeff the next day and said she wanted to go home. She gets herself admitted by saying she's dizzy, having trouble breathing etc. This time she took it a step too far--she is realizing today. She said she can't live like this anymore and whatever else. She was put on suicide watch. She had an evaluation today, I don't know what happened with that. Lex and I went to see her today, she said she's getting that out of her file, about the suicide watch. Its so hard to explain her actions and how selfish she is. She said that at one point Bill was a bad husband, her sons don't do enough. How this one girl was such a good daughter and daughter inlaw, slam against me. It is just so aggravating. I don't know what will happen when she's released from the hospital.
