Good Morning Sandy and Christmas Dreams,
This morning it was 9º (feels like -4º) and snowed overnight. We were in a winter weather advisory until 6:00 AM this morning and everything looks white outside. Today it is to go up to 27º and sunny with wind WNW 10-20 mph. The winter weather really hit. It looks like our temps won’t go above freezing for at least the next ten days.
Tonight is Christmas Eve and we want to go to the Christmas Eve service at 7:00 and then come back home for a quiet evening.
Yesterday I had my chiropractor appointment and I feel a lot better after he made the adjustments needed. He found two places in my lower back and one in my mid back.
King and MJ went out for some Christmas shopping and grocery shopping on the way home. MJ said the checkout lines at the grocery store were long and they had to wait in line about 20 minutes before they got to the cashier.
I was home with the girls. Hannah made some cupcakes and decorated them with Christmas designs. I had one for dessert with supper and it was delicious. Rachael and Sarah made a gingerbread house from a kit and had fun doing it. I got all the dirty dishes and the bowls and utensils from their projects in the dishwasher and ran it, then washed the things that couldn’t go in the dishwasher by hand, so everything is clean and there was counter space for the groceries.
Maxine calendar for December 23 and 24: If Santa’s smart, he’ll put me on his nice list. After all, I know where he lives.
More memories from our time in Japan: These are letters that were written to my mom and dad while we were in Japan. This one is dated April 12, 1961. Tom was 18 months old. (This letter is one that was mixed in with 1962 letters and will take a few days since it is typewritten on two pages.) Yesterday Tommy said his first sentence - in Japanese yet. We were getting ready to go to the doctor and I put Tom’s coat on him. He insisted he wanted to wear his winter hat and I told him the one Auntie Ruth sent would be better. Nobuko San greed with me and said “Kore de ii yo” and Tommy said it right after he. It means something like “this will be fine”. All of us were surprised. My mind has gone blank, but Tommy says “type” so I’ll let him do it for a while. Hi, Grandma and Grandpa. I love you. Ka t yyyy yymy ka t z. Good Evening, I got home at about 7:30 and have just finished a very leisurely supper. Thank you for the “smokin”. The Mixture 79 is good to mix with other tobacco. Out driving through the smoke, filth and odors of Tokyo I appreciate my pipe even more than I do at home. Have got to get to work on a Bible study lesson for Friday, my tutor comes tomorrow. Love, Bill. April 13, 1961. Hi - here it is a day later. Uy yyy ok kko s d ss sssseiiii ii kio yyyy juy t. I had to leave this again and as you can see Tommy took over. I’m not sure what he was trying to tell you but he sure was going at it. He seems to be feeling much better today. His temperature was up again this morning but it went back down again after I gave him a baby aspirin, and at bedtime it was almost normal. His appetite is just about normal now too. After supper he came out to the kitchen and asked for a banana, so this sounds more like our boy. I just thought of another thing I haven’t been able to get here - maple flavoring. I make my own syrup for waffles and pancakes and I’ve used up all we brought along. Would you include some of that sometime too? Well, I can’t think of anything else to say right now so I’ll finish it now and get it sent or it will be another day before it gets done. This letter will be continued tomorrow.

Cat,
That cup of coffee looks so good it makes me wish I could have a second cup, but I did enjoy my one and only cup this morning. I decided since I could only have one cup, I'd have breakfast first and then sip my cup slowly and it seems to be working.

Hi! Happy Christmas Eve! Hope you find joy, hope, peace, and love today. It is there for each of us.
Love that coffee cup! Doris, you are a strong woman to stop with one! Why do you have to do that?
Cinnamon roll dough is rising! Yay!
Hugs and prayers for all!

Diane,
I went to the ER after several times of feeling very light headed when I was here alone. When I told King and MJ about it, King took me to the ER. I went to my doctor for a follow up visit and he said my sodium level was very low so I have to limit the amount of liquid I drink so it doesn't flush it out of my system. He said 3 cups of coffee a day and 3 cups of water a day to take my medicines. So far I'm doing OK, but it sure would be nice to have a second cup of coffee. I decided to wait after each meal was finished and that way it seems like it is a second cup.

Hi, just stopping by to say good morning on this Christmas Eve Day. We will have lunch with DD and her family then finish our decorating and anything else I can prepare for tomorrow's dinner.
Sandy, thanks for getting us started. Hope you and your DH are doing okay. Haven't really seen a message from you for a few days.
I've been searching for a sparkly top I had when I was working. I wore it for graduation ceremonies. Now I can't find it. Thought it would be a good Christmas outfit, but I'll make do.
I don't know why I'm so depressed with Christmas this year. Maybe it's a combination of Daddy's death, Mom's being in the nursing home, DS and his family being so far away. Also, my house keeps filling up with stuff I want to keep, but there is no actual place to put it. It's depressing to be living in a messy place. To top it off, there have already been some incidents of giving something away then wishing we hadn't. So many blessings, and I can't seem to get to them this year.
Well, I'd better put something on! Y'all have a wonderful day. Stay safe in the snow and ice -- we have it here this morning.
Dreaming of family here and so far away -- Molly

Snow has showed up this morning. I am glad to be inside.
Stay safe.
Molly, you are not living on the streets. You have a loving family. Count your blessings.
Prime rib tomorrow. I will count that as a blessing! ***********************************************
What do lions sing at Christmas? Jungle bells!
When is a boat like a pile of snow? When it's adrift.
How do snowmen get around? On their icicles.

I'm going to cook turkey thighs tomorrow for our dinner. I tho't about ham but didn't find any in the store of any interest...just big hams which I would end up throwing most out. I bought a nice yam too and StoveTop stuffing. Nice that a couple of you will have white Christmas' but I don't really miss that. Had enough of them in NY to last a lifetime. A bad day here is rain....but we need that too.
Tucking you all in now and wishing you sweet dreams in our RED & GREEN STRIPED BLANKETS.
A Happy Hubby - Kathie

Who is doing the thread for January? Just wondering who is keeping track of new names? I gave my new name a few nights ago when Kathie suggested the new name..
I'm tired today.. wrapped everything and then my daughter came for awhile.. she no sooner left than my son and granddaughter came... they stayed till just a little while ago.. now I'm finally relaxing.. time to feed doggie boy and watch tv for awhile.. everything is late tonight.
Merry Christmas everyone. Jenny
