Would like to ask those who track points what do you do about those "tastes, licks and bites"? I almost always have a few weeklies left over so I often just figure them as part of my lousy math skills!
But often I'll have one bite of hubby's desserts when we go out to dinner (actually he brings the temptations home to eat!) Frequently it's a chocolate layer cake (27 SP!!!) So would you say a bite is 1,2,3 SP?? I have to think if I actual ate the whole piece (huge) would it be 27 bites? or 14 maybe?

Pat,I guess it would depend on how big the bite is.Most desserts are too sweet for me since I was once diabetic but I will take a bite off one of DH's nutty bars and will have 1/2 bite and give the other 1/2 to the dog b/c she loves them and I don't think the little bite she gets will hurt her.I normally count 1 SP for a small taste like that.If it's something that ends up being a bigger bite I will cut it up into maybe 3 bites and count 3 SP for it.

pbnj unless I am inhaling half a cake in one bite I just do 1 point per BLT, but I track everything so it all evens out. *amending answer to add if this is a regular occurrence with the same type of cake I would be more diligent and try and actually figure out what the correct points would be, I'd probably go with 3? But I have no idea how big the original piece is so you'll have to let me eat the whole thing for you and I will tell you! ๐

I usually go ahead and track them. I track calories at MFP so I'll estimate a proportion that it makes to the whole thing and I will include in recording my WW points as well. I guess my threshold is probably about 10 calories (in a day).

Guess I am very guilty, don't track those scenarios cause I never eat any activity points. That being said, we never order dessert out, mine is usually a cheese and cracker or some nuts.

(actually this picture shows a pretty thin piece, the one he brings home is HUGE!) Why am I still married to this man? ?

I do calorie counting and I DO count those "BLT's," at least I do when I am being honest with myself. Amazing how quickly they can build up and how we can convince ourselves that they are insignificant. I am so guilty here but when I become more mindful of what I am doing I mentally slap myself.

I used to count 1 PP back in the day, but when sugar took such a big hit, I upped it to 2 or 3 depending on the *bite*.

Considering how small a Little Debbie cake is and how many points it is, I better stop asking for a bite when my guys get theirs. That bite is probably 3 to 4 points. That's a meal. I usually quick add a few points for blt's, or quick add 150 calories on MFP for those. But when you only get 1300 calories that can be pretty significant. Those blt's can add up to tuna and veggies, basically an extra meal. That's a good way of seeing things.

I guess I always remember that it doesn't really matter whether I track it right or not....because my bod is going to! I have always been one that has *over-pointed* and it has served me well.

If you are happy with what your weight is doing, then how you're tracking BLTs is working for you. If not, then I'd adjust each BLT upwards to over time until I got the results I desired.

I track a bite if it is something sweet or pointy. If it is a half of a 1 pt cracker I may or may not count it. I have 35 WP's and some times use 5-10 but often none at all. I don't use FP's either so as long as I don't take a little nibble daily I am okay with that. I also tend to round up on what I enter into the tracker (if I have a tablespoon and a half I put in 2).
For the most part I track everything. I agree with what Kathy said in that if I didn't track my body sure would. I also know that if I start gaming the system I will let it spiral out of control. My biggest food issue is portion control. That is why I love tracking.
