Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

DRYUARYS CLEANSE "I look to the New Year with a renewed commitment to Progress" (credit to Hazelden)
The sense of true cleansing does not mean just ridding the body of toxins. We're exposed to harmful substances all the time; they're in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and mercury, to name a few) and the very air we breathe (think disinfectants, deodorizers, and the fumes released by fresh paint). We can choose to eliminate as many of these as possible. But there is also a Spiritual aspect as well. Toxins bring you down. When we eliminate harmful substances from our diet and eliminate as many as possible from our lives, we will feel rejuvenated from the inside out.
During the holidays we can easily overload on food and alcohol as well as the commercialization of the holiday. We may feel inundated with stress and turn to self medication through food and alcohol. The sense of peace that we seek will not be found.
So here we are on the first day of the NEW YEAR! Where will you be a year from today? Will you still be wondering why you are finding satisfaction through food and alcohol or are you ready to make a change and cleanse yourself of old habits. Let's take the first three months of this year, 90 days, to create new habits, cleanse ourselves of old habits, and become the person we know we can be. It will be an adventure that can only enhance you!!
From January 1 through February 28 we are challenging ourselves to go without alcohol and cleanse ourselves of habits that make ourselves feel bloated, anxious, and just overwhelmed. For some alcohol issues cannot be manage on your own and this board is here to support you in getting help. This board has posters at many different stages in the journey. Some know that being AF is the way to go, others hope to be AIM, but we are all conscious of the slippery slope that can lead to AIE. We want to feel empowered, not let toxins control us, but let us control toxins.
You will not be kicked out of the challenge because of a slip but understand why the slip, talk about it. Christmas and New Year's may have given you a freedom to overindulge but don't let that continue. Anytime is a good time to start, there is no magic with a Monday, or starting with the next day since today is lost....but there is some sort of magic with January 1. We are more determined, more open to admitting to our new year resolution because we are all in it together. The trick is to keep that MOMENTUM going and it is a commitment to ninety days! Let's make our living environment a healthy environment. Face it, no matter how motivated, committed you are, on January 1, having alcohol, junk food, trigger foods, in your kitchen is not going to help. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is going to happen. Don't make it easier to give in. You are only kidding yourself when you say I have it in the house for company, for the kids, the just in case. Assess your kitchen....ask does this help me or hinder me? DO NOT have a sentimental attachment to alcohol or food.....the stuff will still be out there, it does not magically disappear. Remember, this is your health! This is your LIFE! To All, Great Success!

Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit!!! Happy New Year!
It was a quiet NYE at home- watched a Hallmark movie & managed to be awake at midnight.
There were lots of people on the beach yesterday morning and I imagine there will be quite a few today too. I went to the grocery and bought lots of fruits and veggies and used my phone to scan foods for point values. I'm going to make some zero point soup to take for lunch this week. We're going to have black-eyed peas for our New Year's dinner.

Good morning and Happy New Year!! Of course I greeted the New Year by being asleep but I'm up early! I'm making a commitment to posting my stats for this challenge. I have some regain that I am determined to get rid of and I need to be accountable. I told GG a couple of days ago that I had 21 days AF but I miscounted so this is correct now.
I went to church yesterday morning but just stayed home last night. It is bitter cold and I just couldn't face getting out in in again. Callie and I just snuggled. I did get the laundry and housecleaning done and I need to do a little organizing in the kitchen today but that's all I have planned. I might make a pot of soup for the freezer this afternoon. I'm going to have my black eyed peas for supper today! I'm sure I'll be checking back later. Love you all and I'm praying for a blessed and happy 2018 for all of you! Murphy

I copied your version Amy as I like the WW info on there. We went to bed early but I did wake up right before midnight and said a farewell to 2017! Now ready to take on a new adventure in 2018. Will be cleaning today, but also want to plan time to do something for someone else, something for me, and something Positive for our planet or country...does that make sense? No matter how small, baby steps to a better year. Heard from DS, still sick, uggh, maybe better news today. Al least he stayed in bed and didn't try going to work. I'm going to make a white chicken chili verde, from the WW site, to have in the fridge. My goal today is to roll over 1 pt...doable. Have a great day all, make your dreams come true. Jan Cindy Thank you, hope we see you checking in. Thinking of you everyday and hope you are feeling well and making progress on all your chores. Hugs. Amy Ha ha you need to up you activity points by about 200! You'll have your goal today I had changed mine to 80 and just found I wasn't making it often enough and was discouraged, so went back to 70, 10 a day. Sounds like you have a plan, hope you see a great loss your first week, helps with the motivation and momentum. Enjoy your beach time!! Murphy You are one busy lady, yay for getting your chores done early. Now you can do whatever makes you happy for the rest of the day. Any craft projects on the horizon? I need to finish the baby hat I'm making so I can get back to my sweater I've abandoned.....going to need that wool sweater! will check in later and see who's been here, waving to all of you and hoping for your best year yet!!

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit, Happy New Year!!
Well, today is the last day that I could stay in bed until 8AM and loved every minute of it! Didn't make it until Midnight. I was really tempted to have a drink last night but then talked myself down especially since I had a 3.8 weight since 12/28 (since I have been AF)! I think I got the message, lol. I will continue to track on MFP because it works for me, and I usually eat mostly protein, veggies, fruit, and whole grains anyway.
Plan on doing a little more knitting, and maybe de-Christmas, or just maybe do knitting and nothing else, haha.
Cindy~Thank you for getting us started, I hope all is well with you, miss you, and praying that this will be a better year!
Amy~Loved your beach picture this morning on FB, beautiful first day!
Barb~You and I are basically in the same boat with a regain but we are still in Onderland, so lets challenge each other with activity! Where is your stationary bike? Drag it in the house and either listen to music or watch TV, even if wee start off with 15 minutes, that is 15 minutes of burning extra calories no matter how few or how many, it's a start, and we will be back to where we were in no time!
Jan~I will be finishing my 3rd hat today, and still have plenty of yarn. I got mine online with Michael's and I had to buy it in quantities of 6 so I am set for a while, and probably next Christmas, lol! We went grocery shopping yesterday to stock up on breakfasts and lunches for the week, and a few dinners too.
Waving hello to all that follow!

Hello my friends! Happy new year! We had a nice night. Went to dinner and watched 2 movies. I was AF except for a sip of lex's drink. I was going to meet my friend to workout but she canceled, so I'm on the couch cross stitching and reading. Tomorrow I work for the first time in a week, will be good to get back to some sort of routine. It feels like -22 here so I'm not getting any steps, nor is angel and she is bored! I thought I was done with laundry but dd just brought down a basket, ugh. If that's the worst thing that happens, it's a great day!
Amy, I just talked to dh, I'm coming to Singer Island! The last week of march, I believe!
Jan, did you find boots? I hope ds feels better.
Murphy, you are busy!
Cindy, I love this challenge, thank you! I hope this is a great year for you.
Liz, good for you being af!

Hi girls. Happy New Year!! I was determined I was going to enjoy NYE. I even stopped and bought potato chips and dip, because I knew I was getting BOT today. I had wine and didn't even enjoy it.
Today, however, I have been on track and I will have a blue dot. I'm really proud of you girls that were AF!

Hi, Tree is finally down, mantle cleared and packed, all needles vacuumed up. Now some more me time, getting knitting anxiety to keep up with Liz. Actually about 1/2 done with my hat, got a walk in and now need 900 more steps to reach my goal, so guess I'll be pacing around the house driving DH nuts for the next 1/2 hour or so!! DS said he was feeling better today so that made me happy. Trying to figure out a "treat" to have with my tea that is 3 pts, that would still give me one to roll over.......Hope your first day of 2018 was a great one. Jan
