Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

DRYUARYS CLEANSE
"I look to the New Year with a renewed commitment to Progress" (credit to Hazelden)
The sense of true cleansing does not mean just ridding the body of toxins. We're exposed to harmful substances all the time; they're in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and mercury, to name a few) and the very air we breathe (think disinfectants, deodorizers, and the fumes released by fresh paint). We can choose to eliminate as many of these as possible. But there is also a Spiritual aspect as well. Toxins bring you down. When we eliminate harmful substances from our diet and eliminate as many as possible from our lives, we will feel rejuvenated from the inside out.
During the holidays we can easily overload on food and alcohol as well as the commercialization of the holiday. We may feel inundated with stress and turn to self medication through food and alcohol. The sense of peace that we seek will not be found.
So here we are on the first day of the NEW YEAR! Where will you be a year from today? Will you still be wondering why you are finding satisfaction through food and alcohol or are you ready to make a change and cleanse yourself of old habits. Let's take the first three months of this year, 90 days, to create new habits, cleanse ourselves of old habits, and become the person we know we can be. It will be an adventure that can only enhance you!!
From January 1 through February 28 we are challenging ourselves to go without alcohol and cleanse ourselves of habits that make ourselves feel bloated, anxious, and just overwhelmed. For some alcohol issues cannot be manage on your own and this board is here to support you in getting help. This board has posters at many different stages in the journey. Some know that being AF is the way to go, others hope to be AIM, but we are all conscious of the slippery slope that can lead to AIE. We want to feel empowered, not let toxins control us, but let us control toxins.
You will not be kicked out of the challenge because of a slip but understand why the slip, talk about it. Christmas and New Year's may have given you a freedom to overindulge but don't let that continue.
Anytime is a good time to start, there is no magic with a Monday, or starting with the next day since today is lost....but there is some sort of magic with January 1. We are more determined, more open to admitting to our new year resolution because we are all in it together. The trick is to keep that MOMENTUM going and it is a commitment to ninety days!
Let's make our living environment a healthy environment. Face it, no matter how motivated, committed you are, on January 1, having alcohol, junk food, trigger foods, in your kitchen is not going to help. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is going to happen. Don't make it easier to give in. You are only kidding yourself when you say I have it in the house for company, for the kids, the just in case.
Assess your kitchen....ask does this help me or hinder me? DO NOT have a sentimental attachment to alcohol or food.....the stuff will still be out there, it does not magically disappear. Remember, this is your health! This is your LIFE!
To All, Great Success!

Another good day with Freestyle. DH made a yummy chicken in his InstantPot.
Since it was windy and rainy yesterday morning, I stayed inside and did a Firm video, then Walking Away the Pounds to get my steps in. Hope it's dry this morning.
Took a nap when I got home and still slept well last night- yay!

Good morning all! Does shivering burn calories? Because if it does, I shall be waif-like by tonight!!! I stopped and got my hair cut after work yesterday and just going from the car in the salon and back out, I got so chilled that I thought I would never get warmed up last night! I sat on the couch all night buried under a blanket. I don't feel sick and I pray I'm not coming down with something. I think I'll be sipping on hot tea all day!

Amy - you are so inspiring to always do what you have to in order to get your steps in! I wish I were more like you!
Cindy - that headache sounds horrible. I agree with Amy, be sure to mention that to the doctor.
Liz - I didn't get on the bike last night but I did get on my stepper this morning. Not very much but I'll increase it. I will get on it again tonight when I get home.
hpeterson - I'm so sorry you had such a rough day and sorry that your student was struggling so bad.
Jan - is your car free again?
Carole - has it warmed up enough to get Angel out? I'm so excited about you getting to go to Singer Island! Is that close enough to Amy to be able to visit with her?
Hope everyone has a great day! Murphy

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday was a good day, I even got on my bike for 15 minutes. At first I was so lazy and was not going to get on but when I read Murphy's post that she took up the challenge, that I got on that darned thing, lol! Thanks Murphy!
I have to learn not to get on the scale everyday because I was up .6 which might be too much sodium, I hope because I stay OP/AF. I am still not motivated to start to get those steps in, I hope that comes soon.
Amy~Yay for a good night's sleep and DH's yummy chicken.
Murphy~I hear you about being so cold that it gets right into your bones. We have been having such frigid weather, and now bracing for a foot of snow tomorrow! Normally when there is no school, my office remains open, if that is the case I am too old to put up with that so I might use vacation days for tomorrow and Friday.
Jan~Yay for the AF days! Glad DS is starting to feel better. I haven't started walking the building yet, need to get that mojo back!
Cindy~Ditto what the others said, please tell your cardiologist about the headache and scary pain!
Hpeterson~Wow, that was a scary incident at work, glad you were not injured! WTG staying AF/SF!
GG~Yay for yesterday not being hard. Sorry about DH.
Carole~ Hi!
Have a great day!

Drysuarys Cleanse Weigh in Day: Saturday Weekly AP Goal: 70 Number Of Days AF (alcohol free):6 DAILY STATS AF: Y Food points allowed/consumed: 23/27 Weekly allowance points used: 4 Blue Dot: Y Activity Points Earned: 7 5 Fruit/Veggies(Y/N): Y Vitamin (Y/N): n 64 oz Water (Y/N): Y 2 Dairy (Y/N): n 2 Healthy Oils (Y/N): Y CHALLENGE START WEIGHT: 194 January 1 weigh in: 194 January 8 weigh in: January 15 weigh in: January 22 weigh in: January 29 weigh in: February 5 weigh in: February 12 weigh in: February 19 weigh in: February 26 weigh in: February 28 Final Weigh In: Good Morning My car is finally Free!! Not sure what I will do today but happy to know I'm mobile if needed. Thought of walking at the mall but don't want to push my knee. It's feeling a bet better but a shorter walk would be better. We are supposed to be getting some rain coming in tonight so maybe tomorrow I"ll go do an indoor walk. Good eating day, used my extra points for 3 mini reese's cups.....I blame DS for leaving them here. Made the white chicken chili, I really liked it, made smaller recipe that the WW said and less hot pepper, used a jalapeno instead of serrano. Filling and 1 pt. My 3 things: FInished my baby hat, went to the knitting store to visit and get some help on the decreases. Bagged up all of a drawer full of hotel shampoos soaps etc and when I get to the grocery going to buy boxes of hot Chocolate, that's what the Homeless Kitchen said they need, so I will deliver all after I shop. Can't believe how many mini bottles of lotions etc. were accumulated!! Cleaned up a lot of plants and put them in the green barrel. Will see what inspires me today. Hope you all have a great one and can do something you enjoy!! Jan Amy Hope you could walk today. The Chicken sounds good, we have thought of buying a pressure cooker/pot/crockpot all in one. Maybe when we move. We just gave our older crockpot to DS. Hpeterson So sorry for the hard day. Hang in there. I know the students are special needs, but are there any "consequences" when they go off and endanger others? I can't remember what our school would do, but I know it was zero tolerance in the regular classroom. Murphy Yes, shivering burns calories but not sure that's how you want to burn them!!! DH keeps worrying about the weather in WI. but I keep telling him this is crazy weather for all of the east, not normal lows all the way down to Florida! Crazy Climate! Stay warm and snuggled! Liz How was being back at work....OP? Has the scale kept moving? CIndy So sorry about your headache. Hope today is better for you. Yay for Ds having a new GF. HOpe she's a keeper! Carole When do the kids go back to school? Will you go down to Singer on your own? You will definitely be ready for some warm weather. My cousins just bugged out of Naperville on the 30th, unplanned trip to Ixtapa Mx to find some sun!! GG Are you still getting a lot of snow? Hope you can stay home when the weather is bad. How was yesterday, OP, AF? Hugs to all.

tatermom,- We gave him an afterschool detention because he was intentionally trying to hurt others. Of course that meant I had to stay after school with him, so I had detention also! But I'm hoping it worked. I will try to post my stats tonight. I have a hard time posting them now, because my day isn't done. So I will either post each night, or I will post the yesterday's stats during the day. That's how it seems to work best for me. I stayed in the blue dot range yesterday, AF.SF. Binge free yesterday. I was so tempted after work, but I worked on the bullet journal and had a nice cup of tea instead.

Hi Everyone!
Did see my cardiologist, had tests, nothing showed but have orders to head to the hospital if it happens again or anything odd. The searing pain and feeling I was going to pass out were the only symptoms. Honestly all I could think was TIA and I was comforted in my mind that I was clearly thinking. I am still having a headache and seems related to sinus issues. BP was normal, three pounds loss but so not worth it for this. Of course I had to diagnose myself and suggested a pinch nerve. My cardiologist is very kind and listened to me. I have had two bad ones in December. November and December were not good months and I know I have lots of tension in my body.....so hey, a new year resolution....get rid of the tension!!
I am sorry to not do personals (again!). Just tired and going to recline and bundle up in blankets....it is in the teens here, brrrrr....did I mention Santa brought me a recliner? Hugs to all, Cindy
