Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

DRYUARYS CLEANSE
"I look to the New Year with a renewed commitment to Progress" (credit to Hazelden)
The sense of true cleansing does not mean just ridding the body of toxins. We're exposed to harmful substances all the time; they're in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and mercury, to name a few) and the very air we breathe (think disinfectants, deodorizers, and the fumes released by fresh paint). We can choose to eliminate as many of these as possible. But there is also a Spiritual aspect as well. Toxins bring you down. When we eliminate harmful substances from our diet and eliminate as many as possible from our lives, we will feel rejuvenated from the inside out.
During the holidays we can easily overload on food and alcohol as well as the commercialization of the holiday. We may feel inundated with stress and turn to self medication through food and alcohol. The sense of peace that we seek will not be found.
So here we are on the first day of the NEW YEAR! Where will you be a year from today? Will you still be wondering why you are finding satisfaction through food and alcohol or are you ready to make a change and cleanse yourself of old habits. Let's take the first three months of this year, 90 days, to create new habits, cleanse ourselves of old habits, and become the person we know we can be. It will be an adventure that can only enhance you!!
From January 1 through February 28 we are challenging ourselves to go without alcohol and cleanse ourselves of habits that make ourselves feel bloated, anxious, and just overwhelmed. For some alcohol issues cannot be manage on your own and this board is here to support you in getting help. This board has posters at many different stages in the journey. Some know that being AF is the way to go, others hope to be AIM, but we are all conscious of the slippery slope that can lead to AIE. We want to feel empowered, not let toxins control us, but let us control toxins.
You will not be kicked out of the challenge because of a slip but understand why the slip, talk about it. Christmas and New Year's may have given you a freedom to overindulge but don't let that continue.
Anytime is a good time to start, there is no magic with a Monday, or starting with the next day since today is lost....but there is some sort of magic with January 1. We are more determined, more open to admitting to our new year resolution because we are all in it together. The trick is to keep that MOMENTUM going and it is a commitment to ninety days!
Let's make our living environment a healthy environment. Face it, no matter how motivated, committed you are, on January 1, having alcohol, junk food, trigger foods, in your kitchen is not going to help. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is going to happen. Don't make it easier to give in. You are only kidding yourself when you say I have it in the house for company, for the kids, the just in case.
Assess your kitchen....ask does this help me or hinder me? DO NOT have a sentimental attachment to alcohol or food.....the stuff will still be out there, it does not magically disappear. Remember, this is your health! This is your LIFE!
To All, Great Success!

TGIF!!!
After I overslept yesterday, I never really got caught up on my routine. Another blue dot day, though.
I bundled up and walked yesterday- it wasn't too bad, although the thermometer did drop into the 30's. It's about the same today- 44 right now. But it's supposed to start warming up today.

Good morning and Happy Friday! I'm not feeling the best this morning for some reason. I think I have a sinus headache. Hope it doesn't make me too cranky here at work! Then again, if I'm cranky, maybe they will send me home?? LOL I've been such a slug this week at home. Going to bed early and snuggling with Callie. Hopefully I will get my behind in gear this weekend! Hi and hugs to everyone. Have a great day! Murphy

Good morning. Had a good day yesterday, got around that detour and got my head back in the right place. OP, AF, blue dot and over 12,000 steps. Today I will do a shorter walk, start planning some meals for next week and maybe make some soup. My chicken chili will be gone today at lunch and now need my next low point "filler". There's a black bean soup on the site that looks good. Dropped a load at the thrift, sold 2 pairs of DS pants at "crossroads" used clothing store and then walked the mall. Today maybe ready to cast on a new baby hat or finish up a cotton dish towel I'm working on. Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend. Jan Amy Glad it's going to warm up. What was your total AP for the week. Have you decided what you're going to set your goal at? Hope the scale is your best friend tomorrow, you have really worked the plan. Murphy Not sure cranky will get you sent home! According to Hpeterson, even if you throw chairs you don't go home! May the exercise bug bite this weekend. Stay warm. Liz Did you have a good day off? The weather they show on the news out there looks crazy!!!! Watching all this, DH and I are making a list...generator, space heaters, more lanterns. I guess it's sort of the same that people around here have for earthquake or fire. It's always something, no matter where you live. Did you finish another hat? Did you get on the bike? GG Another good day for you? Do you have GK's today or has the weather closed their school too? How is DH feeling? Hpeterson Hope you had a good day off, is school closed again today? Then do you have to make these up as snow days or are some built in? Cindy Are you feeling any better? No more incidents I hope. Hugs.

Hi girls! I'm home today because all the schools are closed with the arctic wind chills. I love my grandkids, but I am thrilled to be home!! We have a wood furnace which is really warm heat, and it's STILL cool in here! Of course, if I put on warmer clothes that would probably help! Lol. Yesterday at our meeting, I still went outside twice to cool down!! 😬 I'm not sure if I told you DH got me a fan that has a power pack that I can use with my cell phone too. It's gotten a lot of use!
I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I'm finding it hard to get into any kind of routine. Between DH here all the time, and me being tired after working, it just doesn't happen. Things are going well for me though. Once I decided I was going to be OP and AF, I have been! I had to have a talk with DH about A. I think I got him to at least think about it. With his pain, A has gotten worse. His MRI showed a bone bruise. He won't need surgery, which is a good thing, but will take time to heal. He probably will be going in for therapy.
There's lots of excitement in meetings. We are getting a few new in each meeting. This is my year! I BELIEVE!! Now to remember to pause and think!!
Rylee is sick with the diarrhea. If she still has it this morning, she will be going to the Dr. Her daddy is off school, or I would be up there with her. I can't wait to see her Monday!!
Amy: I'm going to steal your TOTD. You will see it on FB. I can't believe that it snowed in Florida! Crazy weather! I'm anxious to see what the does for you after Freestyle.
Murphy: Hope you can stay in all weekend. Sorry you don't feel "right". And yes, anyone can join the Christian WW group. If you look on my profile, you will find the link.
Jan: You seem to be doing well! DH said this morning he hoped we didn't look electricity because our generator is in the barn! Look for the kind that automatically switches over and sits by the house, sort of like an air conditioning unit!!
Liz: Hope all is well with you!! Stay strong through the snow days!! I read where we should stop calling certain food comfort foods because it reinforces bad behavior or some such thing. Maybe you should find another word for snow days!!
Carole: How is everything with you? Is it warming up for you yet?
Cindy: Glad you went to the dr! What is YOUR weather like?
HPeterson: What a day out had with your student! WTG on staying AF/SF/BF! As you can see, I don't even post the stats! Do whatever works best for you!!
I slept in until 8:30 this morning!! I guess I should get up and do something on my ME Day!!

Good morning! i'm going to try to keep tabs on this board. 2017 was hard - husband diagnosed with stage IV cancer and son-n-law's MS progressed with side effects from his meds to being 100% bedridden, incontinent and having to be fed or use a food tube - and he's 38! Way too much alcohol this year! Between that and eating badly (chips anyone?) gained over 10#. BUT 2018 is a new year, hubby's cancer is under control with the nasty meds (I try not to think about the horrible side-effects!) keeping the cancer at bay. Son-n-law still totally dependent on caretakers (I'm caretaker part time) but the "shock" has worn off. Now it's just trying to keep his and our daughters spirits up with this new life they have to live. Hubby is in a 80's cover band (I run the sound) so we're at the bar at least twice a month, if not more (lots of musician friends), so my New Years resolution is to always be the DD which will limit me to no more than two drinks when we're out. Also trying to stay away from sparkling wine (if there's an open bottle I usually finish it) except for special occasions.
So far, this week, I've not had a drink since New Years Eve (don't ask!!) and will try my best not to drink Sunday - Thursday. Does make it much easier to stay on points though! Thanks for listening!

Murphy: I added you to the group. Just waiting approval from the administrators!
Union98: Welcome! I have been AF since the first of the year as well, although a part of this board forever! You HAVE had a hard year! I like your idea of being DD when you go out!
