I'm going into my 4th week on program and have never, or at least not in the past several years, made it past the 3 week mark without having a major binge fest that went on for days or weeks and which would undo all the progress I'd made. Having this group to come to and using the Beck suggestions (again, I'm using her newest book, not the pink one), especially reviewing my Advantages list every day, looking at my reminder cards several times a week, and eating mindfully, have made a huge difference this time. I probably should read the other foundations and add some of those as well. I do weigh myself every day as she suggests but I'm still not convinced this a good thing for me, especially when I have weeks like last week when I did everything "right" and the scale didn't budge. Kind of a de-motivator.
I just got a Fitbit and am working on being more active, especially getting more steps in my day. I'm enjoying the challenge of that.
Anyway, thanks for listening and for being here and letting me join in.

Hope you are feeling better today, Judy.
Happy to hear you are in a really good place, Andi. Being able to connect here to discuss Beck openly has been helpful to me as well.
Not much on tap today. Going to do some errands this morning after my workout and then stay close to home as freezing rain is due in this evening into tomorrow. Enjoying my holiday off in remberance of MLK.

Feel better Judy!
I'm with you gals - connecting here and Beck has been such a bonus. Something new seems to stick with me with each review in the most meaningful way.
Might take in a movie if up to it later.

While I was losing my 70 lbs, it was painful to discover that my normal losing pattern was to stay steady or go up slightly for two or three weeks, then have a big down week, then steady or up slightly for a few more, then another big down week. I really had trouble staying in there during the steady and up-weeks and holding faith that the down week would eventually come. Now in maintenance, I have to keep reminding myself that steady and up-weeks are perfectly normal and to be expected. I have to remember that this mindful, careful way of eating is the new normal and not something to get demoralized over. If there is ever a return to the old, thoughtless, grab-it-if-it-looks-good way of eating, there will be a return to the old weight. Hang in there, and trust the program.

ladymajky Good advice, Carol Ann. I weigh also every day and it's helped me to just see the graph for information. I can look back over the months and I see the same pattern as you. Very little loss and even some up days can be demoralizing and then, a big drop. Funny how the body holds on and finally releases the fat. Hang in there, keshet51. We've got your back.

Yes, I keep a few different charts and records of my weight. It helps me look at it as statistic and not a self-judgement. I like that I can see long-term trends and fix what's not working.

Good morning everyone
No rain here until Thursday. Then it rains for 4 days. Wow!
Today the counter gets installed in the master bathroom. Hope it goes well. I am getting beaten down with contractors mistakes. The fabricator measure person was a real jerk. The tile guys will be here at 8:30 to put second coat of cement on tub surround. Von's grocery store delivery is at 11:30. 😀😀😀
My weight loss goes the same way. Up and then down. Unfortunately I have been these few pounds over goal for 2 years. Went up when my mom fell and then died 2 months later.

Since I've been on maintenance I weigh every day, for better or worse. It does fluctuate up and down a couple pounds. It keeps me tracking and paying attention to what I'm eating.
Today I have a long to do list of jobs around the house and errands. Tonight I have to call in for federal jury duty. This is a first for me. I've had superior court jury duty in the past but never federal court. It's a 1 trial or 1 month call in summons, so I do not know what the next month has in store for me. I hate this. I also don't know if there are healthy food options near this courthouse or a refrigerator available if I want to carry a salad with me. I'll figure it out if and when I have to report.
Best wishes to everyone who reads this thread!

Andi: Great job.
I weighed weekly when I was losing which was pre-Beck for me. I learned abut daily weighing from the Maintenance board on the WW site. I'm not so sure I agree with the daily weighing while losing even though you do eventually have to make peace with the scale. This is my third time doing WW and when I started this time I knew from the last two experiences of getting to goal that as long as I kept on program I would lose weight but that it would not show up on the scale every week. That lead me to be pretty relaxed about my weekly scale number while losing. But that is because I had positive dependable history with weight loss (maintaining was another story).
Andi: Just understand that you are learning about your body, the program, and how to work the program and as time goes on you should be able to trust the process more.

Judy, I hope you are feeling better keshet51 Google "why the scale lies" and you will find several reasons why the scale doesn't budge. Just keep doing all the right things and it will go down. I have lost my focus so today starts another new beginning. A close friend who lives in So Cal joined WW on line yesterday. I recommended she also read Beck. She just texted the Starbucks breakfast sandwich she had been buying on weekends is 15 points. It was an eye-opener for her .

Even when I order healthy it's still more points than eating at home. Judy- did not know you were sick. Hope today is better for you.

Judy,Feel better soon.
During my first year on WW it seemed like I only lost 2 weeks out of each month.I would either maintain or have a small gain the other 2 weeks but the weeks I lost were bigger losses so I guess it averaged out.It seemed like once I started trying new veggies and ate more salads and less fruit I started losing faster.I am wanting to maintain now and it seems like I have trouble even eating all my daily points.I have always come pretty close but it seems harder now.We did eat out for lunch yesterday and I almost got the 30 points(at least it was closer than usual).
I went to Curves and grocery shopping this morning.I rode my indoor bike for 15 min until my knee started to revolt this afternoon so I guess I will get in my extra 250 steps an hr by house walking. It's still awfully dreary looking outside for a walk.I am pushing the water to flush out the sodium from the salad yesterday.

Thanks so much for everyone's words of wisdom and support. Just so you know, I am a longtime member of WW and got Lifetime in 1984, so as Dr. Phil says, this isn't my first rodeo. I've done all of the programs since then and a couple even before (the old fish 5 times a week plus liver, powdered skim milk, etc.), and mostly have done meetings since I like the face to face support. But I've always had a binge problem which has been untractable until now and reading Beck this time plus the support here has meant all the difference. Each day without a binge is a miracle to me. I know the scale can be uncooperative. I just have never had the experience before of sticking with the program even when the scale was doing its thing, so this is a new world. It was so helpful to hear of others who had occasional or frequent gains and yet stuck with the program and lost the weight. I'm in it this time, for sure. I have no idea how to maintain, but I don't have to worry about that right now. Thanks again, all.
