Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

DRYUARYS CLEANSE
"I look to the New Year with a renewed commitment to Progress" (credit to Hazelden)
The sense of true cleansing does not mean just ridding the body of toxins. We're exposed to harmful substances all the time; they're in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and mercury, to name a few) and the very air we breathe (think disinfectants, deodorizers, and the fumes released by fresh paint). We can choose to eliminate as many of these as possible. But there is also a Spiritual aspect as well. Toxins bring you down. When we eliminate harmful substances from our diet and eliminate as many as possible from our lives, we will feel rejuvenated from the inside out.
During the holidays we can easily overload on food and alcohol as well as the commercialization of the holiday. We may feel inundated with stress and turn to self medication through food and alcohol. The sense of peace that we seek will not be found.
So here we are on the first day of the NEW YEAR! Where will you be a year from today? Will you still be wondering why you are finding satisfaction through food and alcohol or are you ready to make a change and cleanse yourself of old habits. Let's take the first three months of this year, 90 days, to create new habits, cleanse ourselves of old habits, and become the person we know we can be. It will be an adventure that can only enhance you!!
From January 1 through February 28 we are challenging ourselves to go without alcohol and cleanse ourselves of habits that make ourselves feel bloated, anxious, and just overwhelmed. For some alcohol issues cannot be manage on your own and this board is here to support you in getting help. This board has posters at many different stages in the journey. Some know that being AF is the way to go, others hope to be AIM, but we are all conscious of the slippery slope that can lead to AIE. We want to feel empowered, not let toxins control us, but let us control toxins.
You will not be kicked out of the challenge because of a slip but understand why the slip, talk about it. Christmas and New Year's may have given you a freedom to overindulge but don't let that continue.
Anytime is a good time to start, there is no magic with a Monday, or starting with the next day since today is lost....but there is some sort of magic with January 1. We are more determined, more open to admitting to our new year resolution because we are all in it together. The trick is to keep that MOMENTUM going and it is a commitment to ninety days!
Let's make our living environment a healthy environment. Face it, no matter how motivated, committed you are, on January 1, having alcohol, junk food, trigger foods, in your kitchen is not going to help. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is going to happen. Don't make it easier to give in. You are only kidding yourself when you say I have it in the house for company, for the kids, the just in case.
Assess your kitchen....ask does this help me or hinder me? DO NOT have a sentimental attachment to alcohol or food.....the stuff will still be out there, it does not magically disappear. Remember, this is your health! This is your LIFE!
To All, Great Success!

Back to blue dot land- yay! Experimented with riced cauliflower patties- they were okay, although I was surprised that DD liked them.
It's 70 degrees this morning, but rain is likely.

Murphy- Yay for the loss! Your chili sounds good.
GG- LOL over the bean soup.
Liz- I know you can stop drinking again, but you have to want it for you. Maybe rather than focus on not drinking, you should focus on what makes you happy.
Jan- Yay for the loss! I understand feeling the need to escape. You've had so many changes, with more to come. I imagine you are feeling the stress of it 24/7.
Union98- Sorry about the sparkling wine.
Hpeterson- Hope the ice is better.
Carole- Glad Ty is doing better.
Cindy- I am concerned about the headache- what did the doctor say? WTG making progress on the purging. I love that Sookie likes to sleep with me- she likes the feet.

Good morning all! Had such a good visit with my friend last night. She and her daughter will come back through town tomorrow night and my other friend who was planning on coming tonight has decided to delay till tomorrow night so we'll have a mini reunion! We won't have a whole lot of time to visit because they will get there kind of late but we will manage!
Amy - I have some riced cauliflower in the freezer that I need to do something with!
Carole - sure hope that DS isn't facing surgery!
Cindy - LOL about DS's new friend posting that they are in a relationship. Did he say anything about it?
Liz - I really like the advice not to focus on giving up A but rather to focus on what makes us happy. I don't want to give up A either! But I am able to recognize that it wasn't doing me any good.
Hi and hugs to everyone else. I need to run now. Hopefully will be able to get back here later! Murphy

Blue Dot: Y Activity Points Earned:10 5 Fruit/Veggies(Y/N): y 64 oz Water (Y/N): y CHALLENGE START WEIGHT: 194 January 1 weigh in: 194 January 8 weigh in: 192 January 15 weigh in: January 22 weigh in: January 29 weigh in: Good morning from California. had a good day yesterday and planning ahead for another! Meeting my friend at the mall for walk and lunch. Going to a salad place so all accounted for, you build your own so I know the only points will be dressing. Something with left over turkey for dinner. It rained all day yesterday but I made myself do a leslie sansone video, got a 20 min aerobic workout with her 1 mile walk. Almost finished my hat, today for sure, I'm on the decreases and fingers crossed I have enough yarn left. Had a message from the realtor that she had gone into the house to put a light on a timer for us. She said everything looked great after the cleaning service had come. Also raised the heat a bit to make sure no surprise frozen pipes etc. Getting excited, watching the weather. Found two more "whys"....want to reach goal before we move to celebrate here with my meeting friends and maybe not have to pack up as many clothes. Want to really enjoy DS graduation and 'Like" myself in all the photos! I know these are the superficial ones but it helps with some focus. I know I also want to get off my BP meds so that is one health related. I agree, we need to do what makes us happy, whether doing it for ourselves or doing for others. Have a great day all. Jan AMy Wow, 70 sounds good! Yay for being back to Blue dot! So far I've only really liked the Cali.riced as in a stir fry. Murphy have so much fun with your friends. You are doing so well with your AF days!!! Keep it up! GG Did school reopen today? I did try the 2 ingredient bagels. I just tried 1/2 cup of each first to see if I liked them. Different texture and a bit tangy taste from the yogurt but they do really bake up. I would cook them hotter next time to be a little more done. More like a scone dough. I think I would maybe try them as "hot pretzels" so they are thinner and then dip them in mustard. Union It's a new week, you did well with your original plan and you start over. Were you happy with the results of last nights game? DH wanted Georgia, good game though! Hpeterson WOndering if back to a regular day of school or still closed? Congrats on the scale going down...a lot!! Liz How was last night? Your mojo will arrive when it's ready and the wagon will be by to pick you up!! I also will be accountable with you and Cindy, maybe we have a "code" when it's a craving day and put it on the Facebook when we need talking off the ledge. Hugs to you. Cindy Hope you got some better sleep. I also know that when I drink days in a row it makes my achy joints, arthritis feel worse as the inflammation can never heal itself. Our new house will have a lot of stairs and I need to be able to get up and down safely so drinking does not help that!! My ds GF also had to post on FB last year or so, I think it's a girl thing Good for you still purging. You think our houses would be empty by now!! Carole Good luck with the Dr. report. Is DD back at school? Better get breakfast going and get out of here. Later.

Hi all, Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss. Unfortunately I was up 5 pounds this morning! I think it's from salt. I had cajun pasta last night that had a lot of salt (plus the pasts carbs) and popcorn with a ton of butter flavored salt on it. Pushed the water and took a water pill today. Hopefully some of it will be down tomorrow
We had a two hour delay today. This is just crazy!!! We had a 10 day holiday break, were back for two days, had two snow days, a weekend, then early dismissal and then late start!!
Needless to say today was really rough! I got hit with shoes, fist, pushed to the ground. I'm just tired. Trying to find the balance between relaxing and keeping myself busy so I don't binge or have a drink.
I have a false sense that it's OK to have a drink because I have daily points and a LOT of weekly points. I am able to stop at one drink, but I don't want to think "I need it". I also admit I do feel better when I have a long time AF.
I"m going to do some cleaning, take a shower and then try a cup of hot tea. I bought some new teas to try and help give myself a "treat" that's AF
Thanks for letting me ramble!
