Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

DRYUARYS CLEANSE
"I look to the New Year with a renewed commitment to Progress" (credit to Hazelden)
The sense of true cleansing does not mean just ridding the body of toxins. We're exposed to harmful substances all the time; they're in our diet (pesticides, microbes, and mercury, to name a few) and the very air we breathe (think disinfectants, deodorizers, and the fumes released by fresh paint). We can choose to eliminate as many of these as possible. But there is also a Spiritual aspect as well. Toxins bring you down. When we eliminate harmful substances from our diet and eliminate as many as possible from our lives, we will feel rejuvenated from the inside out.
During the holidays we can easily overload on food and alcohol as well as the commercialization of the holiday. We may feel inundated with stress and turn to self medication through food and alcohol. The sense of peace that we seek will not be found.
So here we are on the first day of the NEW YEAR! Where will you be a year from today? Will you still be wondering why you are finding satisfaction through food and alcohol or are you ready to make a change and cleanse yourself of old habits. Let's take the first three months of this year, 90 days, to create new habits, cleanse ourselves of old habits, and become the person we know we can be. It will be an adventure that can only enhance you!!
From January 1 through February 28 we are challenging ourselves to go without alcohol and cleanse ourselves of habits that make ourselves feel bloated, anxious, and just overwhelmed. For some alcohol issues cannot be manage on your own and this board is here to support you in getting help. This board has posters at many different stages in the journey. Some know that being AF is the way to go, others hope to be AIM, but we are all conscious of the slippery slope that can lead to AIE. We want to feel empowered, not let toxins control us, but let us control toxins.
You will not be kicked out of the challenge because of a slip but understand why the slip, talk about it. Christmas and New Year's may have given you a freedom to overindulge but don't let that continue.
Anytime is a good time to start, there is no magic with a Monday, or starting with the next day since today is lost....but there is some sort of magic with January 1. We are more determined, more open to admitting to our new year resolution because we are all in it together. The trick is to keep that MOMENTUM going and it is a commitment to ninety days!
Let's make our living environment a healthy environment. Face it, no matter how motivated, committed you are, on January 1, having alcohol, junk food, trigger foods, in your kitchen is not going to help. Give it away, dump it, GET RID OF IT! Temptation is going to happen. Don't make it easier to give in. You are only kidding yourself when you say I have it in the house for company, for the kids, the just in case.
Assess your kitchen....ask does this help me or hinder me? DO NOT have a sentimental attachment to alcohol or food.....the stuff will still be out there, it does not magically disappear. Remember, this is your health! This is your LIFE!
To All, Great Success!

Happy hump day!
Another blue dot for me yesterday. Yummy dinner last night- grilled tilapia, sauteed spinach, roasted squash, some black-eyed peas, and some grilled pineapple. I'm having an issue with my cell phone. When I plug it in to charge it- it's saying that moisture is detected in the charging port. It was doing the same thing a week ago, but stopped. I googled it- it apparently is a known issue with the S7. I tried using a blow dryer on it and re-booting. At least it's charging, albeit slowly. I've ordered a wireless charging pad (another online suggestion). If that doesn't do the trick, I guess I'll go to the AT&T store to see what they have to say. I'm afraid they will just try to sell me a new phone.
I have a dentist appointment after work. He's going to try to fix a broken tooth with a filling.

Good morning everyone!
Amy and Murphy, thank you for the support, and you are right, I should focus on what would make me happy instead of worrying about drinking. Yesterday I signed up for on-line Freestyle, I thought that I would give it a try for one month, and I got my first Blue Dot day, and I finally got up and did two laps around the second floor. I need to get it up to 5, baby steps.
Will try to do personals later...

Hi again - doctor visit went fine. He ordered all my lab work and is setting me up for a bone density scan. He said that insurance will cover it since I'm menopausal! Oh the perks of getting older! LOL
Amy - You are definitely making me crave seafood! LOL I am going to fix some shrimp or salmon this weekend!
GG - woo hoo for your blue dots and being down a pound! Go girl!
Liz - good for you for starting your laps again! You will build up in no time!
hpeterson - I am so sorry you have had such stressful days at work! Bless you for all you do for these kids!
I had a sad note when I came back from the doctor's office. Found out that one of my young patients (age 32) died of the flu this morning. He had not been very compliant with his dialysis treatment which I'm sure had an impact on his resistance levels but this strain of flu is nothing to be messed with! He was admitted to the hospital Monday evening and died this morning. Just breaks my heart. Everyone hug your relatives a little bit longer today! Murphy

I should have said that I think I had a blue dot day, I stayed within my points, but I didn't see anywhere that I earned a blue dot. I did see all blue dots next to each of my entries though.
Where on the site does it talk about blue dots? I don't find the site too user friendly.

Hi Liz, I don't know how the on line only is, but I know you see the blue dots on your Phone app, where you can scan foods and go on connect and post. The line at the bottom of the phone that looks like a graph going up and down shows your days in blue dot and you weight. If your normal points are 23 for the day you can eat from 13 -28 and still get a dot. Hope that helps a bit Takes a while to find everything, I still find recipes and restaurant info I didn't know was there. Keep playing with it. Hugs.
Hpeterson..Glad the day is going better. I get it, like I would "like" to have wine on our anniversary or for a special dinner, not nightly watching the depressing news!!
