Has this already been discussed? Oprah is on the cover of People magazine regarding her recent 42 pound weight loss, along with several other people with huge losses who have kept it off. Very inspiring and neat to read.

That was interesting; thanks azcristi (and DebDoesWW). I still haven't seen the new commercials; yesterday a WW friend told me that she had seen one and found it defeating that Oprah said she didn't struggle with food anymore...now, I haven't seen it to have a direct quote, but I can count on a couple of fingers the people that don't have struggles. Strong words, LOL! I think what matters is that you figure out how to deal with the struggle; my past quitting point was always when it quit being easy.

I really don't relate to Oprah AT ALL. She's preached so many diets throughout the years, and each time "was the one". But I admire her for always giving it another try.
Soo... I guess I can relate with her on the numerous regains. It's a daily struggle for me... there's not a single day that I'm not thinking about a future meal!
I'm turning 50 in April, and I'm already planning my birthday dinner! LOL

azcristi - I can totally relate to "not a single day that I'm not thinking about a future meal" - I'm like that too!n Thanks for the heads-up on the magazine ksbruns - I agree with you too about figuring out how to deal with the struggle. I don't think that I will ever be at a point in my life where I wouldn't want to eat anything I want and in any amount I want, if I was able to do that and stay healthy.

Loved the People magazine articles. I always buy the "Half Our Size" issues because I do find the stories inspiring. I usually find the story about someone close to my age or height and use it as motivation...LOL. Can't relate to the 25-year-olds anymore but I wish them well.
With that being said, our "friend" Big O is claiming to be a Size 12 in that article. What a joke. Maybe with six pair of Spanx on! Or, wearing designer clothes specially made for her by Dior or somebody. But she sure as hell doesn't look like a Size 12 to me. Just compare the photos of her (in the magazine) from when she brought the wagon full of fat on her show and was wearing a Size 10.
Sorry to anyone who loves her, but this is not the behavior of a role model. Nor is saying (as others mentioned above) that she's "never felt deprived" or "doesn't struggle." Come on now!

Yeah, I'm not an O fan, nor am I impressed with her 42 pound loss. Her commercials are not flattering, and I agree with others who didn't agree with her "never felt deprived" statements, I think she also made comments that she's never had to make sacrifices. Oh come on, be real. Sure, we can eat anything we want on this program, but we can't walk into Olive Garden and order anything we want, enjoy multiple breadsticks and a glass or two of wine. We can't. There are sacrifices we must make if we want to be successful, and yes, that does include feeling deprived at times. That's reality.

I bought the magazine yesterday. She admits she has more weight to lose so perhaps she will be Little O on her next cover.

It is called vanity sizing. If you can afford to pay enough you can wear clothing several sizes smaller than if you were getting them from Walmart. I do feel deprived once in a while but for the most part WW does work for me.

I do feel deprived once in a while but for the most part WW does work for me. It's been going on for years. I remember many years ago a story about Elizabeth Taylor that ripped her about her weight gain. It said she had "ballooned to a size 12." I was wearing sizing-by-Walmart clothing and I was a size 10 and nowhere near one size away from where the beautiful but bountiful Liz was. Liz probably weighed about sixty pounds more than I did at the time. Crazy.

I used to just get crazy in sizing conversations. I'm not going to say I'm a string bean, I'm built like a fireplug, but I am in the BMI for my height, and durn if I have worn a single digit size since I was in Jr. High; little did I know when I crossed from a 9 to an 11 that it was carved in stone.

I could absolutely see her wearing a size 12. I wear a size 8 and I'm chubby as hell right now. Womens' sizes are arbitrary.
I like Oprah fine and always roll my eyes a bit at the antipathy she inspires, but I'll admit she lost me with the never feeling deprived stuff. I call bullshit on that. I think I know what she probably meant (she doesn't have to deprive herself of particular foods) but if that's what she meant that's what she should have said.

She's a size 12 what?
I wear size 10 pants but would be a 6 in a dress because I'm tiny up top. Will never wear size 6 pants. So do I say I wear size 10 or size 6??
