Welcome to our 2016 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! November 1 - December 31
CHRISTMAS DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!
Did you know? 24 days until Thanksgiving, 25 days until Black Friday, 28 days until Cyber Monday, 54 days until Christmas Eve AND 55 days until Christmas Day! HO HO HO!! So make your Christmas dreams come true and get on the AF wagon! You have over 8 weeks to make changes in your life that will bring you into 2017 feeling great!
Ever drink, and still feel lousy? Ever drink, and say, not enough buzz? Ever drink and say one more has got to make it better or at least make me not care? Ever drink and ask yourself, what am I doing? Why do I want to poison myself? How does this possibly help me? The problems will still be there the next day. Then do you find yourself repeating the pattern knowing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and yet expecting a different result. Ah, but you know better….HAH!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be and if it was easy, there would be no need for this board and this wonderfully supportive group. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine if you need a plan for a detour, not necessarily to take it but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Have the holidays always been a reason to drink? Do you think you can enjoy the holidays without alcohol? Or do you get through the holidays by drinking? During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. There may be holiday dinner you wish to plan an AIM, repeat AIM, detour. However please remember if AIM becomes a relapse....we still want you back! Don't berate yourself. Come back to the board, 'fess up and get back on track. We are here to be supportive of each other in reaching our goals.
So if your Christmas Dreams are to be AF and feel physically, mentally and spiritually healthier, please join us for the challenge and make your dreams come true. New friends are welcome to join at any stage of the challenge.

I had an OP day yesterday, but didn't track. I'm having trouble fitting everything in my day and was really tired when I got home, so I took a long nap before dinner. Talked to mom & could immediately tell she was sick. Her voice is really scratchy, but she says she doesn't feel too badly. She was able to do two therapy sessions and get her hair done, so I guess she is doing ok. The nursing care is pretty good there, so I'm sure they will keep an eye on her. I worry about any respiratory infection at her age. Oh, and she made some kind of craft out of tongue depressors, lol.

GG- Woohoo for being down 0.6# and being AF one day at a time.
Murphy- Sorry about your fibro. A massage sounds like a good idea for you and me both!
Liz- I'm so glad the dinner with your BFFs lifted your spirits. I agree that it was DS's guilt over the trains and his being overwhelmed is what made him lash out. No excuse and he better make it up to you when he gets back! WTG not pushing yourself to decorate. Keep it as simple as possible and enjoy the season. This too shall pass.
Jan- Glad your feet feel better and it was a good day at work. WTG staying out of the goodies in the break room (mostly)! Taking your knitting for your break is a good idea. Enjoy your baking!
Carole- WTG doing squats with a #10 ball. Since I've been having trouble fitting in workout videos, I've been doing squats and walking lunges during my morning walks. DD hasn't had a vertigo attack in a while. DH shared a video on FB showing a doctor demonstrating a technique for video. Haven't watched it yet...
Cindy- Yay for no line at the post office! I worry about forgetting stuff all the time, so I imagine you feel uneasy about missing something regarding the finances.

Good morning all! Sounds like everyone is getting busier with the holidays approaching. I heard from my cousin Jim last night and it looks like he will be coming up on Christmas Eve and just staying one night. That will be fine with me because I'm not planning on taking any time off from work. And since he won't be there on Friday night, I can still go to my meeting! I had wondered how I was going to handle that. I'll probably try to fix something nice for a Christmas Eve dinner but he'll have to get his own wine! LOL
Amy - I am afraid that if I did a squat, they would have to call in the rescue squad to come get me up! LOL Oh how I need to exercise!
GG - WTG hitting your 10K steps!
Liz - I think if I had been around, I'd have boxed DS's ears for him! No excuse for taking out his feelings on you in such a dramatic way! Don't worry about the decorations. Just put out what you love most and you will enjoy it more! I felt a little bad that I didn't have my big tree up when I invited my cousin but I still have the little tree and it's pretty and will be much much easier to take down after the holiday!
Carole - so sorry about DD and I hope the 3rd visit to the doctor is the one that does the trick!
Jan - comfy shoes will make all the difference! Also check out some Birkenstock clogs with the padded soles. I imagine it will just take some time to get used to being on your feet that much. I remember the short time I did retail and I swear when I got home at night, my feet hurt all the way up to my shoulders!
Cindy - woo hoo for getting all your packages mailed. I've got two returns that I need to take care of and I hope to get them done by Saturday morning.
I stopped by Aldi after work yesterday and got some good veggies. I'm set for healthy eating until Christmas! I am determined to head into the new year feeling strong. My fibro is still acting up and the cold weather today isn't helping but I will plan on a nice long soak in a hot tub tonight! Everyone have a great day! Murphy

Just a quick Hi! Can't believe I've been staying in bed and sleeping until after 7, almost 7:30 today. Definitely worn out when I get home. Today I'm 11:30 - 8 and then off tomorrow. Rainy here today. One thing that is so nice, when I pull in the drive when I get home DH has the tree all lit up in the window and the icicle lights on outside. Looks so pretty, make me happy. The store isn't decorated or anything to feel like Christmas, which is fine, but I like seeing all the lights when I'm driving home. The time will go fast and then I'll be on to the next adventure. Tomorrow I'm off and meeting my friend for lunch and I will bring her small gift and one for her DD. I will also be on the hunt for shoes Want to make my toffee before we meet as she hinted she'd love some for xmas. I will check in this evening, have a great day all.

Had a good day at work, the drive home was scary yuck, raining so hard I could barely see. Why do people still want to drive the speed limit when you don't know where you're going, even places where water cover the highway. But home safe and sound. Today the promotions manager asked if I would be her "assistant", organize book fairs, help find live music, be the go to when charity fund raisers were there. Wow, sounds good, keeps me off the register I will shadow her Saturday and Sunday, she threw me when she said " next year we'll need fill all of December" Ha, I planned to work until summer! But may work a deal and come back seasonal if they want me :0/ Also had a great conversation with a man who was researching children's books. we talked a bit and then he had me read his "mock up" book. He has an illustrator and is almost ready to publish, wanted to know what I thought. I loved his story, hope he gets published and I can say I helped him when. We went over some parts where the rhyming wasn't quite right, can't believe he thought my input was helpful. Everyday is a new adventure. I'm right at having used up all my weeklies, meeting my friend tomorrow for lunch but not being at work should help me get through to WI on Saturday. Hope you all had a great day, see you tomorrow!!
