Judy, If only I could slow down my mind to tell it to think before I eat.
We are having heavy rain through the weekend. So far our drainage has been fairly good but there are some very deep puddles in the garden. I have a color and cut today and need to stop at the grocery store on my way home. I want to make the TJ miso soup with their wontons for lunch. Several on Connect have posted photos and it seems perfect for a rainy day lunch with a side salad or some raw vegetables. Breakfast is my usual egg, toast, fruit and tea. Dinner will be split pea soup with a small roll and salad.
My current project is organizing last year's bills and tax info. My organizing is somewhat disjointed but I figure as long as I tackle a new area each time, it will all get done.

jamescat1 Thanks for the reminder about organizing my tax receipts. I never can finalize our return until late March but I think I'll start with some of the paper things I have. Did you ever get your Social Security check? Seems like you were supposed to get it this month. I hope so!

It sure does sound familiar.Just think about it, Judy. You were way ahead of WWs when you discovered Beck and shared with others on the Boards. It goes to show you that people who are interested in their wellness and physical health are resourceful. We've learned together that Beck's approach is supportive for maintaining, which is not the primary focus of weight loss programs as we have also learned, some of us more than once. Oh yes. I just recalled how your Beck thread was censored by WW. I guess WW thought your sharing Beck's help wasn't in our best interest or theirs. Seems like things have changed and it is for the good.

I agree with Colleen, Judy, about WW's censoring you. You were clearly way ahead of the curve. I'm grateful we have a board now where we can share our progress without worrying about the powers that be. Who are now embracing this approach and making it sound as if they invented it.
Menu for me today:
Breakfast: half cup lowfat cottage cheese, 1 c blueberries 2 slices light toast with 1 tbsp WW light cream cheese and 1 tbsp sf orange marmalade decaf with Fairlife skim milk
lunch 4 ozs baked salmon 2 c raw vegetables
snacks Quest bar banana 100 cal pack almonds
dinner omelet (egg and 2 whites) 1 oz avocado arrugula with 1 tsp vinaigrette 1 serving Polenta in the tube, salsa 1 oz shredded Cabot 50% fat shredded cheese
Now I have to go total the SPs and make sure I'm not over. (Just did this and I'm still 5 under)
Am working at home this morning until I have to take the train into the city for a meeting late this afternoon. I'm glad for the down time since my sleep has been messed up even for me the last couple of days. Have a great day all. And thanks again for all the support yesterday. It really helped.

I thought WW censored Judy and the Beck thread because they knew they were going to be using parts of the program in their new SP program that was coming out. I think we also heard that someone who worked with Beck now works with WW. I chuckled yesterday at my weekly WW meeting when I saw the topic was eating mindfully! It was like Deja Vu all over again! LOL! But, people at my meeting were very engaged with the topic so I think it's good for them to hear.
Menu: B: coffee, almond milk, berries, 1/2 english muffin L: veggie salad with 4 oz. turkey, 1 t. EVOO, fruit S: 1/2 c. non fat greek yogurt, fruit D: veggie salad with 1 t. EVOO, grilled chicken, another vegetable

Good morning everyone
Rain Rain Rain. Flooding is an issue in a few places but not here so far. We have sand bags ready to use if needed.
Today plumber is installing the faucets in master bathroom. Then I can put everything away in there. All that is left is the floor and toilet install. Yay! He is taking out the cabinet in the guest bathroom today also. 😀😀
I refused tile install in guest bathroom yesterday. When we opened one box a few of the tiles have orange in them. Not sure why. Seems like a mistake. No where on any site did any orange show up in pictures. My sample tile has not a spot of orange. They are checking with the tile company to see if they have a different lot in stock. Hope I don't need to shop for tile again. Absolutely love this tile so I hope all works out.
The designer is back from a business trip today. Looking forward to what she says about the problem. Hopefully the tile company will let us just pick out the good ones from each case and buy back the orange ones.

One thing California knows how to do is have rain storms. When I moved back east 40 years ago I had to get use to the idea that it may rain for an hour or so and that would be it. I was use to it raining for days.
Glad WW switched over to a Beck-like approach. I think the members will find success with it.
My sun just went behind the clouds, boo!
Marilynn: Glad you caught the orange in the tile. Hope they can "fix" it.

I lived in Southern California during the previous drought in the 1990s. No rain at all for the longest time. It was a Biblical drought of seven years. Then when it finally started coming down, it didn't stop. People had forgotten how to drive in rain and there were wrecks all over the freeways. When I lived in Northern California, I just marveled at the rainy season. All the rain for the entire year comes between November and March. Then no rain whatsoever April through October. Friends from back east didn't believe it. It was nice never to have to make rain alternative plans during the no-rain season. But Nov-Mar it could rain all day long for days.
I didn't get a chance to comment on yesterday's topic about liquids. We were talking about drinking water at my WW meeting yesterday. Several friends who had been stuck for a while had started drinking more, and got off their plateaus. So when I got home from my meeting, I sat down with my weekly menu and added up my liquid intake. I was getting a lot less than I realized. Typically I have one cup of coffee for breakfast, one cup of milk and one cup of soup for lunch, and one cup of milk or water for supper. So now I'm scheduling in two additional glasses of water in the afternoon and one in the evening. Like Judy, I know I'll end up making lots of trips to the bathroom. I quit soft drinks a few years ago, but I drink club soda occasionally. Sometimes on a hot summer afternoon I'll have a beer, but it leaves the body about as fast as it enters.
In order to get off my plateau, my leader also suggested adding a few more points, especially protein. It is counter-intuitive to me to add points to lose weight. But this is where I quit in previous journeys. My rule to myself this time around was to follow the guidance of my leader. So I'm adding more protein points each day.

Carol: I saw the "eat more" advice work for some people when we were on the website. With you tracking everything you'll be able to keep a handle on the situation. One woman didn't want to take the advice to eat more but when we started Points Plus and fruit became free she started to eat some fruit. She came back and posted that she started losing again.
Audrey: I too have to work on slowing down my thinking before I dive in and eat something. My feeling is I don't want to do the work of mentally figuring things out.

Hi Friends, Lady Carol, my GYN doctor basically said the same thing about her own weight loss stall. She said she knows when she does not eat enough it no longer works (in case you needed a 2nd opinion)
This might be too much info but here goes. I told my doctor how many times I get up at night to go to the bathroom. After a short anatomy lesson on the bodies structure she showed me why. She said now it is time to retrain your bladder. Go and sit every 2-3 hours during the day. Just relax and sit and it will happen. This will eliminate all the night time trips because of the fullness in the bladder. I have been paying attention and many times during the day I will just ignore it or put it off. I am really working on this because I hate to get up during the night especially when it is cold! Good I am retired. B yogurt parfait (l/2 apple; 5 ozs low fat plain yogurt; 1 t honey; 1T walnuts; 2 T raw oatmeal (delicious!!) L Out with friend - l/2 hamburger - lettuce - tomato - very few french fries D 3 oz homemade turkey sausage; green beans salad Evening if necessary fruit and skim milk Marie

The bullies on the main page used to blast me for saying that you could be eating too little. But I heard it from one of our work nutritionists with a Masters degree in Nutrition. And as a mathematician it makes sense. Eating & metabolism are a feedback control loop. And if you're eating just a little under a certain point, the body can lower the metabolism a little too much. Worse, under eating for long periods can damage your metabolism permanently. This is part of why I tend to move so slowly with changes in my eating. I'm never 100% certain whether eating more or less is the answer. And there are other maintainers who will agree with me that under eating a little can cause your weight to creep up. One reason to add protein is that it is a lot safer. Your body tries not to break down protein for energy. It tries to save the amino acids for muscle. And if you have enough protein, your body is less likely to break down your existing muscle for fuel. This is another reason to try and keep an eye on your body fat percentage. It would be lovely if we all had access to the expensive machines that can analyze this. But it can be done with a fair amount of accuracy using calipers (the pinch test). Often a nurse or personal trainer (or other gym employee) can do this; sometimes free or for a small fee.
I'm suspecting that some of my struggling recently might be due to the cafeteria in my building using more salt and/or oil. For a few days I've been either eating off the salad bar items that look unadulterated or going to another cafeteria. We have 2 cafeteria systems, one run by contractors and another run by company employees. The cafeterias run by company employees serve larger portions, but IMHO simpler food. By simpler, I mean less stuff added to veggies and more whole pieces of meat. Both use healthy oil. Anyway, green zone today and I did my LT WI. The cafeteria in my building is more convenient, but I might just have to accept either the salad or going to the other cafeteria, which is fortunately near the gym.

Oh - and losing muscle also decreases your metabolism.
