Hi Everyone,
There is nothing like those pecans that we buy fresh from the farm down here. They have spoiled me for sure. We buy four 5lb. bags of pecans in the shell. Each 5 lb. bag yields a one gallon size zip-lock freezer bag. We give one bag to to each of our 2 kids, and keep 2 bags for ourselves. I keep them in the freezer and use them throughout the year for cooking, putting in oatmeal, on salads, or even snacking on a handful right from the freezer. I have to be careful with snacking on them, though! So far I have shelled one 5 lb. bag and have 3 more bags to go. The farm runs them through a "cracker" so the shells come off pretty easily for me.
Ann, I agree with Sue that it is so nice to see your smiling face opening up the cafe. I'm glad you did what you needed to do yesterday and took care of yourself. Some days we just need to do that! I am so impressed that you have the followup appointments scheduled already. It's nice that they schedule them in advance so you don't have to be making those appointments yourself after the surgery. It sounds like you have a good team of Drs. Congratulations on your weigh in today!
Kathy, I'm sorry about the accidental backing into the pole yesterday. I hate when that happens, and believe me it HAS happened to me before. I hope you were able to get J's phone to him without too much trouble today. I would definitely be lost without my phone.
Carolyn, I'm so glad your weather is starting to get better! Congratulations on getting your voucher for your January weigh-in! Enjoy DGD's band concert tonight!
Sue, your friend at work is a good friend to you. I'm glad you have so many people praying for you. I hadn't thought of it, but you are right that the medication will have an effect on you, too. I sure hope the 20 days of antibiotics does the job and kicks that infection out of your body.
Oops! Sorry to cut this short, but I've got to run right now. I'll BBL with more personals!
Carol

Hi, Friends! It was so lovely to be out in the sun today, even if it didn't last for the whole day, cloudy by the time πΆ and I went for a walk. I did get Jeremy's phone to him, my, an astounding amount of security at the church and school, all a good thing, but surely sad. And I had a wonderful visit with Brady...I love Dana, but time alone with him is a treat. I put my feet up and finished a book and now must take on some chores, but thought I would pop in; tonight is choir and I'm hoping to get another Sherlock watched. Sue, this is my recipe abcnews.go.com/GMA/recipe?id=8764625 Our delivery service in Salem made a mustard chicken dish that I thought was fantastic, but I never cook dark meat and it took a while to find a recipe that sounded like we (I) would like...will report, but the house smells great! Carolyn...hurrah for a voucher! My scale wobbled around all week, but finally seems to be settling where I like it to sit. After finally *maintaining* I really do want to keep those pounds I lost last year off and I think I've gotten sloppy. Judy, Sue took the words right out of my mouth, "If they can't get on board with your intentions, they can plan their own movie night." Seriously, when I read what was going on, it reminded me that there are worse things than not having a lot of IRL relationships! I can not put up with that kind of drama anymore. I haven't gone as far as Ann with blocking anyone, (I promise, Ann, I'll behave!) but I am definitely careful with who I let into my life. Come to think of it, like Chele, I did retire! Life is short and precious. I won't, consciously, let anyone drag me down. Carol, yes, those pecans are pointy, but they are extra specially good in the south (I hope you know to say, *PEE-can*, LOL.) I grew up with a pecan tree in my yard, and then again, when I was back and raising Brady. I used to be able to make one heck of a pie! I head to Peabody in the AM for injection #2, but will surely wave before I go....

Sue enjoy that 'quiet time'. It's so important to keep things at an even keel. I had to get back online to check an email from the oncologist nurse navigator and decided to pop back in. LOL Kathy!!!!! It was very necessary for me to block....now I can feel free to read my emails in peace. MMMM pecans are wonderful, Carol. My mouth is still drooling over here sleep well, all!

Kathy ~ Thanks for the link to the recipe. It sounds delicious. Let us know if it is. I have bookmarked it for future reference. Is J teaching during the week - and then playing on the weekends (and choir)? Glad you found him to give him his phone. I KNOW you enjoyed your visit with Brady. It is great that you two are close (geographically too). What an extra special blessing. Always good to be careful who we let into our lives. That is exactly why I haven't discussed any details of my ongoing illness with people at school. They aren't that close to me and there was no need. I haven't missed work or been unable to perform my job. I tend to play my cards pretty close to my chest on many things. Yuk on drama!!
Carol ~ Your pecans do sound delicious! And I grew up Down South and always heard PEE-cans, though I tend to say pecans now. <LOL>
Ann ~ Enjoy your relaxing evening. Talk to you tomorrow.

Congrats to Ann and Judy on their losses.
Ann, Carolyn, the picture is one of RiversScape Metropark, a park downtown right next to the Great Miami River.
Judy, way to stick to your guns. I agree with you saying we are going here for dinner and to this movie in this theater and if you come to dinner we are all getting separate checks (or we are splitting the check evenly), end of story.
Waving to all. Gotta run.

LOL, Sue...you made me realize I had used the wrong phonetics! And I'm not I can *say* it right..."puh-cans". There.
I gave the recipe a good stir a bit ago, some of the sweet potatoes on top were still a little hard, but if they will all cook correctly, I think I can give the recipe a big π.
There are daily sung services at the church, which Jeremy plays, but yes, he teaches music theory and organ for the school. So, even though he might have to play at the weekend, he gets the school holidays.
And yes, my time with Brady is very sweet right now...what a special year.
Loved Chele's description of the dinner plans!
Ann, everyone I don't want to hear from dropped me long ago!

Thanks for putting a name to that wonderful picture, Chele. Just love it!
LOL Kathy, unfortunately the 'friends' I have just want to keep on coming back to take more and more cheap shots at me.....oh well, whatevah as I say!
Just returned another book I downloaded to my kindle. I'm reading fluff these days. I don't want anything heavy right now.
Sleep well!

Hi Again,
Sorry I had to go quickly earlier. My girlfriend got here a little earlier than planned!
Judy, I agree with others who have said stick to your plans for dinner with your friend. Sometime people can just be a pain in the you-know-what. I hope it all works out well, because after all it's about supporting your friend.
Art, is tomorrow the day that you leave for Florida? If so, safe travels to you.
Kathy & Sue, I KNOW I'm not saying pecan the way I'm supposed to in the south! So far the southerners have been tolerant of the way I say it--or at least they haven't said anything to my face! I remember a very nice southern lady once told me that no matter what they REALLY think of you, a southern lady is too polite to actually tell you to your face. She said it so sweetly, too, and all I could wonder was what she thought of me--LOL!
Ann, you are such a nice person, I don't know how anyone could send you mean emails. I'm glad you are able to block them. Good job taking care of yourself by not letting them get to you.
Chele, I love your picture! Thanks for explaining what it is.
Kathy, I hope your injection tomorrow goes as well as the first last week.
Have a good night everyone.
Carol
