This thread was started before the dawn of time by Amazons who needed to compare their stats with other Amazons. Over time it grew into a community of incredible women who try to keep their spirits in the clouds and their feet on the ground, moving toward health. Most of us start at 5'7 and go up from there, from young singles to wise and lively elders of the tribe. We welcome newcomers who are willing to be kind and share a bit of their lives.

Well, Nancy, here's a bright and shiny, unbroken, fully connected Thursday for you, thank heaven, after your wicked Wednesday. Clink!
I am feeling a bit twitchy about all the work-work I have to do over my so-called break. I am happy to report that Christmas prep is moving along satisfactorily, and DH has accomplished a lot of spoiling of the kids via internet shopping. Now I need to finish my spoiling of him.
There is no other way to describe our potluck lunch yesterday than as a gut-buster, inelegant as that may sound. And our assistant/Queen (meant with love, as in Queen Latifah, not Marie Antoinette) made me two loaves of homemade bread just because. One slice with a bit of lean ham for my breakfast sammy --- yum!). Today is my contribution to my older students' lunch during workshop -- Mac 'n Cheese. They are bringing a lot of stuff I don't eat, but we have some good leftovers from yesterday that are not as deadly that I can raid for myself.
Giving a test. Finishing a unit. Then scrambling to grade as much as I can. Off and running! T

*clink* Thank you, sweet T!
I get babe today, and DH will take the Bigs to school. Off to a good start, I'd say.

Aloha, Long and Lovelies!!
I'm still at TGIT, as I am working a half day tomorrow, before taking the afternoon to dig out.....well, the winter clothes. Turtle necks! Heavy sweaters! Oh my! Seriously, we're really looking forward to it; should be a ton of fun.
Now my parent's 50th anniversary is turning in to a big anniversary/family reunion. How awesome. Everyone coming together again will be fabulous. I wonder if there is any way we can convince them to still have it at their house (fun on the lake), but employ a caterer so that they are not working. We'll try to chat about it over our visit.
T, one thing I do not miss about WFH is the food that shows up around the workplace. I"m a horrible nibbler and not very discerning, unfortunately. Have fun with the teen set.
Nancy, glad you have a good start!
PKate, can't wait to hear how those final performances go.
Shari, how did the recital go?
Frieda, thinking of you, and hoping that there are more positive showings coming, or perhaps....an offer?
Alrighty, I have more (yes! more!) spreadsheets coming my way today. Gotta get 'em done. Hugs!!!!

Good morning CATs! Hope you are all having a wonderful morning! I have crazy news…tonight we are going to pick up a new baby girl to add to our dog pack! I can’t believe we’ll be dealing with a new puppy again – we thought the last one was the last puppy we’d raise, that our future dogs would be slightly older dogs or puppies that were already somewhat trained (i.e. housebroken). Can’t wait!!!! I’m taking back what I said about DBro helping out more…he’s on his 4-day shift break and can’t find time to help get DMom’s medication. So far I’ve had to take more than 3 days off from work for her medical stuff just in the past month. I may have to take part of today off to get her these meds or it will never happen. He picks up his kids only about 2 miles away from her and can’t even find time to swing by for a quick visit. And yet, he’s the golden child in her mind (I'm sure it's because of the grandkids). Arrrgh!! Enough about me and my whining! T, we also had our holiday potluck yesterday. I didn’t misbehave too much, but ate a few too many sweets. I stayed out of the breakroom all afternoon so at least I wasn’t grazing all day. Here's to finding the strength to resist temptations today!! Nancy, you sure had a day of it. Wow, I couldn’t believe the picture of your oven door!! Hope Three is behaving himself today. pKate, did you lose that headache? I wonder if these cold fronts brought it on for you – many co-workers including myself have been complaining about sinus headaches this week…hope yours doesn’t turn into a cold like many have had here. MCat, sending you strength to deal with all the work crap! Good news about your family making amends and all the fun anniversary plans. Susan, congrats on your 6-month anniversary with MM! Shout outs to Anne, Melinda, Martha, Frieda and the rest of the CATs who will hopefully find these news boards soon!! Wishing everyone a fabulous day!!

Good Morning, Favorite CaTs. Single digits here and sunny at the moment but it is a crazy day. Blizzard like conditions of blowing snow from overnight - made DH tell me to stay home from WeWa work this am (20+ miles) and I intended to go. Finally WeWa boss got involved and told me to stay home. I am third weigher for very busy meeting. As it turned out I wasn't needed anyway - so few there with weather. Now what to do w my local meeting later. I hate to chicken out on driving in the ---- because I want my winter driving skills and courage. But DH never says don't, he always says be careful. He and DS had quite a white out ride to work together.
Need to do shopping but may try tomorrow - cold but sunny forecast. And Mick is having more stomach issues so me being home today is good for that. Worried.
Andrea, how great about a new little girl dog. Kind? Name? Excited for you. How with others feel about her arrival? I hear you about your DM. My DSis is not as on-the-scene as I want her to be w what I see as my DM's needs - re. forgetfulness. It's more and there isn't enough support for her that would help. But DSis has her hands full w DBiL moods, health, to some extent. Oy. On my nerves and worry list.
T, have you skipped to Fri in your heart and mind? I need one more day! The bread sounds delicious! I'd like to run the oven today for warmth - brownies, bars, etc but it could be a mistake.
Susan, congrats on your 6 mo-versary! Very nice for both of you! Good job on hitting the treadmill in this tough season.
Nancy, what a deal with the oven door! Cleaning is just not safe and should be avoided. There's a lesson there. At least your dough is safe and still good to go. And that little 3, prob not the first to pull his tube out but what a guy! Happy Thursday!
MCat, nice you are looking forward to a happy family gathering. Enjoy all that cold gear you're layering on. Trade ya!
Recital went well. Think I said that somewhere. Wonderful duet with one of my accomplished DStus. Lots of nerves - or unpreparedness? - by teen girls. They own that a little, like it's cool. Some of them. Others are terrific. Lots of good reviews. Really happy to put it to bed for the season - I have one lesson tonight and then none til January. I feel really torn about the DStus I love to teach and get great response from (in learning, practicing, enthusiasm) and leaving them to move south in 2017. None know or have a clue so I think it will be a big surprise and I expect, disappointment. To Frieda and PKate, we hope to move south but it's all job dependent on DH and what can happen for him. Otherwise, I want to leave piano to get some time for self back - have dinnertime, cook dinner, do more at home, still want WeWa (but who knows the difficulty of getting employed elsewhere for that), etc. And I don't want to start into the year of piano here (sept) if going to leave partway (recital, judging event they prepare for). Will go public about it in early 2017, and DH will start a search soon. Then the chips will fall. I want to be brave enough to do it. I do well at looking after others - WeWa members, piano DStus, but less well at taking/having the time to look after things I'd like to prioritize. Hard to choose and let something go.
Dryer buzzing. Mick looking to go out in 9 degrees with wind. Hoo, Boy. Waving to y'all.

Babe is napping. He's been a delight in spite of his tummy being a little tender. We played "Grammy Train" while I made some laps in the house (it's open floor plan so I could see him at all times) and would make a train noise, or a car horn when I'd pass by him. He followed me for a bit, but was mostly content with his pile of toys. The Bigs were really good while they were here so I hope that translates into a great school day for both.
Missy, those big anniversaries can be such fun, especially when family pulls together and comes to celebrate. I also don't miss the nibble table at work.
Andrea, how frustrating for you to have to lose work time. It's hard raising parents.
Shari, Z made two trips out this morning and is now snuggled warm in his crate, content to watch out the door. So happy to hear the recitals are over and done well!
One good thing about the shattered oven door is the oven/stove is spotless, inside and out. New door will arrive tomorrow, barring any delay due to bad weather. I also got the floor swept several times, then scrubbed it. I thought I'd never get all that glass picked up!
So, it's a more relaxed day for me, as I bask in the magic of Thursday, with lots of giggles, new words, and cuddles.

Hi everyone! Sounds like the seasonal festivities are well under way. Our potluck wasn't very tempting because the theme (food from a holiday movie or book) caused people to bring stupid s&%t like pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. So I could basically only eat what I took and there's one other GF person in the office who made a dish. It was pretty yucky even for those who COULD eat it, I think. Andrea, new baby girl? How exciting! I'm sure you'll be posting pics as soon as you have her in your possession. Nancy, I couldn't believe the oven door. Glad you took remedial action in a glass and didn't let it upset you unnecessarily. MCat, have a wonderful trip. I'd love to be going to cold-er weather and maybe get to see some snow! Those errant flakes that Shari has been sending keep getting lost or melted, I'm afraid. T, have fun spoiling DH. I hope he's easier than mine!!!! I'm guessing you are out of school come Friday. It sucks that you have so much to do over the break. Susan, 6 months have flown by. It's so wonderful to see you happy and busily occupied. Shari, I wish I could take Mick for those cold walks. I'm glad you decided not to do the 20 mile drive in the blizzard! I've just worked my last 3 hours for the year. Conference is in April but we produce a paper copy of the program and it must be mailed before the end of the month so we've been super busy capturing all the final details, proof reading and getting it ready to go to print. Job done! DH and I are about to hit the book store for books for the Grands. It's a holiday requirement whether they like it or not;-)

Checking in on the fly, after spending a couple hours at the auto dealership, getting Velma her tune-up. She gets more time and attention than we do with our GP. But she passed with flying hybrid colors. Off to the University in a few minutes for final performances from my Women in Theatre students; each group has to host a 'salon' where they can be the playwrights and directors we've studied, or they can play characters from the plays, in discussion with one another about whatever issue or topic they choose. It's a more performative way for them to explore and demonstrate what they've learned this semester.
T., I hear you on the to-do list for the break; I have to get a lot of work done once all the actual work ends, too. Like Shari, I hope to keep working on finding better balance, and some more restorative time for me.
Andrea, I think the headache was probably a lot to do with dry, forced air, fatigue, strain, etc. It doesn't surprise me that I got a fierce migraine on the day after the last day of classes. Sorry about DBro; I hear you on that. What kind of puppy?
Anne, I need a bookstore trip for my nieces and nephew, too. Hopefully over the weekend, although we're also expecting some signif snow.
MCAT, v. exciting about the family reunion plans coming together. You will all be so glad you did that.
Nancy, I am imagine your sparkly kitchen and your laps around BG3. Okay, gotta fly. More anon.

Title threw me off. Had dr appt. yesterday. She sees improvement with adhd. Have started taking Vit D to help along with the happy light. Also back to taking sleeping aid as not getting good solid sleep. Hmm, wonder of wonders, I slept real good last night. DH had eye checkup and then we both ordered new glasses. BOFO for the frames. I miss the fun & friendships from work potlucks but not the drama that insued. I'm the cook so I am the guilty party making all the goodies. DH doesn't need them but loves my homemade goodies. Yeah, I spoil him. After dr appts, headed to grocery store. Flakes were starting to fall. By the time we got out of store, with almost 2 wks worth of groceries, and got home, traffic was moving slow or not at all. Glad DH was driving. Hope grading done, stove door repaired, headaches go away, and travels are safe. Glad to hear about broken relationships mended, new puppy in the house amid holiday madness and book buying. Having someone be a companion to a parent is costly. When DMom is at home, ComfortKeepers comes in. They don't do medical care, which includes cutting nails. There are other organizations that do pretty much the same. DMom's meds are delivered to her house, at no additional charge, ready to be put in the medicine reminder machine. A DFriend comes in, fills machine and lets DSis know that DMom didn't take her meds so many times. Time to fix lunch for a hungry spouse that has been shoveling snow and other outside chores. HUGS to all.

Pretty silly, huh, T? I was in the mood to do something that would bring a smile. Anne, don't give me too much credit. I cried for an hour after it happened, so you could say I swept and wept. DH was a comfort, and as soon as I was able to order the replacement parts, I felt better. And yes, the wine helped as well. Martha, I take Vit D, as well. It does help. Kate, the performances sound awesome. I hope they were the quality you expected to see. I love when knowledge gets translated in that way.

My computer is packed up, so I'll be hit or miss the next week or so. I'm around and will post when I can.
Our cars are being shipped tomorrow, so packing was done to stuff them. You can't imagine how terrible it was to pack, not knowing how much to take and what seasons etc.
I love hearing your stories, ladies.
Andrea, that's exciting. Name of puppy? What made you change your mind? I hope she is good.
Shari, I knew about move, but didn't realize it was so soom. You'll be fine, in fact better once you start telling people. It will feel good. I'm sure there won't be any problem getting a job with WW.
Nancy , I agree on the weighing every day or every other day. It seems to help.
Anne, who is the speaker? I guess being GA saves you on the calories of pizza. I like your avatar.
Susan, how sweet! Mm post s the cutest photos.
OK time for bed.
