Short and sweet goddesses is a thread especially for us "Short n' Petite Gals". As "Short n' Petites", we have our own issues. Our goals are lower, and as we all know, a 5-pound loss or gain can make a huge difference on a Short n' Petite. We are here to support and encourage one another, so please feel free to join us!

Hello,
Happy Easter and April Fool's.
Holly, did you get some good weather?
Joan, it sounds great.
Jojo, sorry about the needle. Enjoy the nice weather and family weekend.
Sue how nice of you to take the ex-secretary out. Enjoy the quiet day.
Nothing special here. Didn't get much exercise last weeks nor track much and it's showing on the scale. Need to get so oomph back into things. Poor weather as of late, still, grey and with a fair amount of drizzle.
I've decided to take up skydiving, to lose weight.
April fool's! Going for a walk today.

HAPPY EASTER, everyone.
We don’t celebrate Easter either, Sue—and on top of that I am feeling crummy—seems I have caught a cold—so have been chilling out on the couch and playing with Apple Music which DGD13 helped me learn how to use better—oh my gosh, I have fallen in love with it. DH bought the Apple homepod which has the best sound—-so today I have made three playlists—one with all new music—Apple suggests music to you from what you have already bought or played and then you can sample and create playlists with what you like or tell it you really don’t like something so they don’t show you that type again. I found so many new songs that I really like— have wanted something like this so I could stay up to date on enjoying new music but since I don’t do radio I don’t really hear the new stuff.
I just pulled frozen chicken noodle soup out of the freezer and am having that for dinner since my throat feels awful. Will make a salad for DH and one for me and let him finish up some leftovers from last night for protein.
My garden grew a lot while gone—harvested more lettuce and arugula and will soon cut spinach again. DH has eaten radishes and my new batch are up.
Yesterday I put the reflective silver mulch around my tomatoes—helps in this climate where our days are not long so the sunlight doesn’t provide as long a growing day.
We had such a great time in DC—DGD just loved everything—she has a really good history teacher and she loves history so everything was perfect timing for her. DGS loved it too, but is not the history buff she is. I worry about him—he is now 14 and is really slow to mature—in a way it’s good but sometimes it’s irritating because he has some little kid behaviors that seem as tho they should be gone by now. Then again, he has gone through a lot so am sure some of his emotional experiences have affected him. However, they did fine together—have always been okay together as cousins so it worked well.
I have a dr. Appt for my leg and back tomorrow and a massage—hope I feel well enough not to cancel as it is early in the morning. Then I have teeth cleaning in p.m. so I think I will give them a heads up about this cold—not sure they want to work on someone sick—I wouldn’t for sure!
BF’s invited us to join their family for dinner tonight but when I told her my situation I think she was relieved I was not coming—will be lots of kids who don’t need another cold.
Hope everyone is having a nice holiday.

Hi!
Not much snow last night, thankfully. I'm so ready for spring and warmer weather.
Lisa, thanks for starting us. haha, I'm so gullible I actually started to wonder how it was possible sky diving could help with weight loss before I got to the end of your post.
Joan, glad you had such a good time with the DGKs. Hope you are feeling better today, good luck with your dr appt
Last night I made shrimp with creamy polenta. I did something different with the polenta, I had some frozen puree of cauliflower soup and I added some of that into the polenta. It was so good! I've been playing around with the idea of incorporating purees into dishes for added depth of flavor/mouthfeel without using butter or cream.

Sue, the polenta really sounds good with shrimp—just today I almost bought some polenta—the roll—I have a mushroom polenta appetizer that I love—next time I have book club I am going to make a sheet of them.
I just ate lunch—just made cr of brocolli soup again (I used red fat milk) so had a cup of that and a deviled egg—love this soup recipe—tonight I will have soup and salad—rodeo salad which is black beans, corn (grilled and cut off cob), jicama, red pepper, scallions, jalapeno with a cumin/chili powder lime dressing—-it is so good—trying to do more vegetarian—will grill a pork tenderloin for DH—wish he would give up the meat so I could quit making it. I did my sweet pot/black bean/avocado, arugula toast for breakfast again—I am so smitten with that combo!
my garden is growing fast now—cut more arugula and some baby kale and spinach this morning as well as dill and thyme to dry.
Wow, dr appt was really intense—he is ramping up the exercises I do at home. So besides the bridges and walking backward I do 60 rollups from a lying down position—six different leg positions—straight feet, feet spread against the wall, both feet diagonally both sides, bent knees, and last the hardest, butterfly knees flat out on the floor with feet together—to get up on the last one I use a stretch band wound around the door knob until I can do it without lifting the need—all this twice a day. Then I have to do chair squats—move to standing position from chair without using hands or bending forward—with legs in different positions the hardest of which is one legged—again on the last one I use a band to assist and stay stable. But eventually I must do that while lifting the other leg. Last night after completing the second group for the day I thought I would die—knees and whole body sore—but took some advil and used some arnica on the knees and woke up fine—did them first thing this morning before my coffee and could tell I was better already—knees doing okay today—just a tad bit sore.So with the rollups and 50 chair squats and 30 bridges twice a day I should become strong in the gluten rather fast! He is targeting gluten and lower core. Wouldn’t hear of yoga or pilates yet—darn. I did go to the gym just to say hi to my pilates class today and to give the teacher a CD playlist she had asked for. Was so nice to see everyone. When you gym is your social life it’s hard to be out!
I am outside with lunch—the weather is so beautiful and my iris are opening, pentstamen is in bloom as are the snaps and the scabiosa (butterfly flowers) and alysom. (don’t know how to spell that!) The Rayburn ash is just leafing out so brilliant green on the blue sky background! Lots of bird songs as DH is feeding the finch and a few chickadees stopped by on their migration. They come by every year.
Ugh—I caved and ate a whole chocolate bar yesterday—scale did not like my binge.
Going sugar free today though. I eat such healthful meals and then blow my day with a whim—self sabotage is my specialty!
WWBF and her sister in law stopped by yesterday—had not met the SIL—I am growing collard greens for WW BF cause she does not have a garden as her DH is not able to do that kind of work anymore. So we did the first cutting—they were beautiful—I’ve not grown them ever before and am not a fan—she is cooking them tonight—anxious to hear how they compare with store bought. Tomatoes are growing so fast I must cage them today—got one done but need to do all—once the yard is in the shade.
Hope everyone is having a good d

Remember Lori—-she is due to have a second baby—this one a boy—in May, I believe. I never see pictures of Autumn, her DH’s daughter much anymore—wonder what is happening there? Lori seems to love being a mom—I think she is still teaching.

Hi all,
Hope all is well.
Busy week with a lot of meetings. With some upcoming personnel changes there are some exciting things on the horizon.
I am knitting some lap blankets for a local church knitting group. I found some good yarn for them on KnitPicks, and the projects go really fast.

Nice to hear from you, Holly—hope there is some movement at work that works in your favor. Hey have you read The Address? It’s good—all about the Dakota—the upper crust apartment building on west side of Central Park built in the late 1800’s—it is fiction but a really good story—mixed with nonfiction about the builtding and a few other things about NY as well.
I am not getting over this cold—today it’s triggered my asthma a lot—took two breathing treatments and am so tired—probably cause my oxygen levels are affected—skipped my weights class but did my home exercise routine—
Will be a quiet weekend for us since I don’t want to make any friends sick.

Hi! Everyone must be busy. Tues I did my usual volunteering.
Yesterday I met with the realtor for the developer of a new condo going up in the city. It is a preview of the building. It was interesting, because it is on a site that my company had worked on years ago for another developer, and even a couple of years ago, SO worked on it with the current develper. We didn't get the project, another firm did. The layout is not that great, we would want to make changes to it. I'm just keeping an eye out for new properties here, there is no way SO would want us to buy anything here right now, he's still looking at warm weather places.
Last night we went to a art exhibit opening at a local hospital. Strange to see all this abstract and pricey art in the corridors, examination rooms of a hospital.
Today is sunny and in the 60s but tomorrow is supposed to snow! Crazy weather.
Holly, glad that there are exciting things coming up with work. Will you be doing different things?
Joan, sorry you're not feeling well. Thanks for letting us know about Lori. Maybe Autumn is just getting older and there's more to talk about with the younger kids.

Kind of weird to think of art bringing ever more people, hence more germs, etc., into the hospital scene....
DGD17 met with her life coach about schools. She has made a decision finally—she is going to pass on the CA scholarship to Dominican as the dance part is not intense enough for her liking. She will accept the invite from Alvin Ailey to join the certificate three year dance program—and sign up for a couple basic college level classes at a Community College somewhere in NYC—she really wants to be trained by them—and if she chooses she can apply again next year to get into the BFA program at Fordham or other schools if she chooses. I think giving herself this opportunity might be a good choice—he is a year younger than most of her class with a Sept birthday—perhaps after a full year of dancing full time she will know whether or not this is her field.

Breathing a bit better today but last night was really bad—could not even go to bed without a nebulizer treatment—even so, woke up with a wheezy cough several times. DH slept in the guest bedroom which was wise. Hope he does not get this.
Happy Birthday, Holly—hoping you have a great weekend! Are you spending it with your family to celebrate?
Did my exercises without a breathing treatment this morning—so that is a bit better than yesterday. Boy, my knees really feel the squats—they are hard—totally works me into a sweat so I guess that is good—just hope my arthritic knees survive and get better as a result of all the intense movement on them.

I searched High and Low for the posting that I did 2 days ago. Cannot find it. Sometimes I am just baffled. It showed up at that time on the thread and now is DISAPPEARED! The wonders of the airway! next. I went to the GI doc on Thurs. and have esophageal manometry scheduled for next Wed. at the hospital. I have to have an NG tube put down to do the test. Not looking forward to this at all. He also ordered me Protonix to take in the A.M. and then to continue the 40mg of Pepcid in the evening. At times I think the pain is better, then It comes back. The test will tell if I have a tendency to have esophageal spasms.
Much warmer here TODAY - this weather is so up and down - it is crazy. I am truly ready for Spring to be Sprung!
Sue - if you move somewhere else in the NE, would it be a freestanding house? or do you think you would want another condo?
Joan - Sounds as if your GD will have alot of big decisions to make after her first year of dance. She sounds like she has the talent, I guess it is just deciding if she wants to commit her life to it.
Lisa - thanks for starting the April thread
Holly - Happy belated birthday! I'm back to socks with the knitting. Wish a pair would go quicker though - I get bored with it quickly - probably should start more that one project at a time so I don't.
Going out to walk - starting off slow. Joan sorry about the knee pain. I have a knee brace that I wear when I walk - it helps.
Sue - what was the series that you said those who follow The Walking Dead should try? I have the feeling that The Walking Dead won't have many more seasons. They have said that Fear the Walking Dead will eventually merge with it. I like to watch The Talking Dead (talk show after the show) also. Do you watch that?
We didn't have our big meal at lunch today so will do it tonight. Probably Chicken and rice and a veggie. I love rice but it has sooo many calories!

So learned a lot about what I am allowed to do and can no longer do without expecting bad results today. Go on getting back to gym so I will add classes gradually until up to speed again. He thought I was doing the squats once a day—oops—so now I am to do them only every other day and then only once—next week I have to start doing step ups—stepping up to a box one leg at a time unassisted. will be hard but he says the squats are preparing my legs for it. Have to hold a right side plank for ten sec—ten times—he said I will need to get where I can hold a side plank for 40 seconds—OMG, I cannot even imagine that. All of this to get the QL’s to strengthen—the right one was trashed by my yard work day of fame! So I will have some modifying to do in my harder yoga class—no more forward bends unless my knees are bent—no twists unless at least one foot is firmly planted on the floor even if lying down. He explained all of this so I can grasp the concept better. My knees are so happy they are free from squats till Wed morning!!
went to the dentist as over the weekend a sore showed up in my mouth—thought it was an abscess but it is not—it is a protrusion of bony material on the inside back gum—said I probably scraped it chewing something and irritated the thin skin over it—guess it happens to quite a few people—never heard of it myself! While there =he just did my one filling (scheduled for Wed) as well cause they had a no show client. So I am gradually coming off of novacaine.
Have a facial with my neice in half hour. DH went out to lunch (and is just getting home) with his DS—first time in nearly a year—the one he used to own the cabin with. Need to get off here and see how that was.
JoAnne, I hope they eventually figure out your pain and get a stop put to it.

Hi! Still cold here, but supposed to get to 70's by the weekend.
Had a nice dinner out Sat night with ex partner and his girlfriend. He has been dealing with prostate cancer and the last time we saw him before we left on vacation he was bald, now his hair is back and he looks good and healthy.
We went to a French restaurant that SO has been to a few times (business) but I haven't. It was good I had fois gras torchon and fish quenelle. There was a girl in some of my classes in cooking school who was working there the last time I talked to her, but when I asked the waiter about her, she's no longer there. I know that she really enjoyed working there, so I hope she is ok.
Afterwards we came back to our house for dessert. I bought some tartes from a pastry store down the street on my way back from the gym in the afternoon.
Joan, I think the Alvin Ailey experience will be a great one, especially if she is around the professionals. Glad you are having some progress with the exercises and a good path to follow.
Jojo, you have had so many tests. I hope you'll get some answers soon. If we stay on the east coast I prefer Philly, and condo or townhouse. I have heard the creators of Walking Dead talk about the show going on for a very long time. I also watch the Talking Dead. The show I mentioned before is Into the Badlands, it's so good. You can watch the whole first season first before the second season starts in a week.
Happy Birthday Holly!
I'v e been so into sports, Sixers are sooo exciting. Phillies, not epecting too much out of them but they could surprise!
