This is a conservative thread to allow those with conservative views to express themselves. We welcome Republicans, Tea Party folks, and those who believe in the Constitution as written, not as interpreted by liberal judges. If you have liberal views we invite you to participate in a civil and respectful conversation. We would respectfully request that if you cannot post in a respectful and civil manner to refrain from doing so until you can. Good discussions are great - insulting arguments are not. We welcome discussions about our weight loss journey.

Hi Peg, Many thanks for getting us on the board for April. I was thinking about it but just kept putting it off. I do follow the news but when I get to saturation point I tune out. What have you been up to?
I will be back. In the mean time keep the faith.

Still hanging in here. Been busy during my week off but didn't get much spring cleaning done, but I did clean out some of the old paper in my filing cabinet and I finally got my taxes done. I will be getting refunds from both the federal and state. Blessing of tithing!
So what do you all think about President Trump sending the national guard to the border to protect us against the caravan heading our way? Personally, I would treat them as an invading army and use all means necessary to stop them. Think ISIS!
Nobody seems to be calling the Florida massacre a conspiracy. What else could it be? A democrat sheriff orders 4 deputies to remain outside the school cowering while a massacre of 17 students is going on under their noses. Where is the outrage about this? It was a setup to jump start the gun control debate again to distract from Trump's other successes. It is totally ridiculous.

Hi Gary, I heard on the news yesterday about all the murders in London. They have more killings in London than NY, Earlier this week they had 9 people murdered in one day. In the UK I think guns are banned so they use knives to kill people. If they ban guns here people who want to kill will find another way.
Did you see the clips of Jimmy Fallon TV last evening. He was out on the street stopping people and asking very sexual questions. He was really vulgar If he had asked me questions like he was doing on his show I would have really let him have it, He was not funny. Johnny Carson or Jay Leno would never have been so crude. I wont be watching his show any time soon.
With regard to President Trump sending troops to the border I think he has to do it we can't let caravans of illegals pour into the country. I just hate what they are doing here in California.

I see you are finally getting some blowback against the sanctuary cities/state there in California. It seems there are some conservatives in the state who are getting fed up. I heard today one of the 9th circuit court has died which gives Trump an opportunity to put more balance in that extremely liberal court. What is irritating is that the senate is sitting on numerous Trump nominations to the federal courts. I hope the American people are paying attention and are fed up enough to get rid of more of the deep state. I think the raid on Trump's lawyer's office/home was a total outrage and Trump really should fire Mueller. His investigation is going way beyond his original mandate which has turned up nothing!

Here in California we pay more taxes than residents of other states. Our roads are in deplorable condition. There are potholes everywhere and trying to miss them is impossible. I had a huge rock hit under my car just recently and it isn't helping my tires either . Living in a state run by democrats is not fun and offering sanctuary to illegal aliens doesn't help. I am all for helping the poor and I do support a local food closet and I also make baby blankets which I make and donate to young mothers who come to the food closet for food. It will be interesting to see what happens in California. What happens here could happen in other states.

I think Trump is outsmarting the whole lot of them put together. He throws something out on a tweet to distract the media and democrats while he accomplishes something else significant. Interesting to see what will happen in Syria - hope he bombs them off the map and if the Russians try to interfere he'll take them out too.

Interesting to learn that Paul Ryan will not seek re election also Trey Goudy (?) will not seek re election. I hate to see Trey Goudy leave because he is a no nonsense guy. But people are always saying that elected officials should serve a short term and then go back to private life. Many of our elected officials serve too long and make a life time career of it. A lot of them are very old and should have retired years ago. One of the California senators is well into her 80s and is planning to run again which will take her into her 90s if re elected.
I don't follow Trump on twitter but I usually hear all about what he has said through the media. What we are going through now reminds me of the 60s when we had a threat of war with Russia. My DH was stationed in Germany at that time and even dependents were briefed on what would happen if a war started. I am not hoping for war.

It's a good thing I'm not President. I would have done a lot more in Syria than Trump did. I would have taken out ALL the air bases and chemical facilities and maybe even taken out Assad. I probably would have nuked North Korea by now too! As it is, in retrospect, what Trump did was totally within his authority to do and also allows him to eventually get our troops out of there. Glad I am not president!

Barbara Bush was a wonderful lady, loved and admired and by most Americans. She was a no nonsense lady and my thoughts and prayers are with her family. May she rest in peace.

Just a lurker but want to say how much I respected and admired Barbara Bush. She was a strength to be reckoned with. A wife and mother of two presidents. I suspect she was a big part of their success. RIP.

Something we can all agree on: Barbara Bush was a great lady. I do not identify as conservative but I hope folks of different political leanings can at least listen to one another and respect each others' viewpoints.

lani, you are welcome to join us and as adults we should be able to have a discussion and not call each other nasty names.
Barbara Bush was a remarkable woman. We will all miss her . I wish we had more women like her.
