Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

THE AMAZING AF MAY CHALLENGE May 1-31
What are your goals? What are you doing to obtain results? Are you getting the support you need? Are you doing what you need to be doing?
Our current challenge is to have an Amazing AF May. What makes an Amazing May? The answers are varied….losing weight, being AF, feeling stronger, knowing you are doing your best are but a few answers. During our Amazing AF May challenge take as many steps as you can to be the Amazing You! Plan ahead. Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. Post your goal and the steps needed to reach it. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
How are you going to keep your head in the game? How are you reaching the decision each and every day to choose not to drink?
Refocus on why you are a member of this board. What do you hope to achieve? Are you looking to be AF or AIM? Have you done some soul searching?
Are you doing daily battle in your head about drinking? Is drinking helping you become the amazing person you are? How does drinking help support your goals? If you slip, post to the board and find understanding. If you slip and report being AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
Plan, plan, plan! Take it one day/meal/snack at a time and plan meals/menu for the next day. Do not plan A into your menu. However, if you have A, track it. As with all our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some, making the commitment for May is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. Feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. If you are looking to control the A in your life, this board may be for you.
Track your food, drink your water, move a little more than you currently do.
YOU ARE AMAZING ! BELIEVE IT AND LET"S HAVE AN AMAZING AF MAY!

Yay for the start of vacation! I'm mostly packed.
It rained quite a bit yesterday.
My Fitbit is dying- it won't hold a charge. I think I will stop at Target on the way out of town to pick up another one- they are $30 off.

Good Morning...Driving all day doesn't help with your steps, AP or getting your dailies, but I didn't go over and ate well. Have a dentist appt at 8 this morning so having a quick coffee, check in, shower and go. Then I'll go on to the grocery to get a few things for the next few days. I have my "chore" list here for the day and will also be trying to get in some AP. HOpe you all have a good Monday. Will check in later. Jan
Amy Haha maybe I could actually get ahead of you on steps for a day!!! Have a safe trip.
GG I forgot about sharing MOndays with the other GG. We are staying here until the 25th. They are kindly letting us stay, no rent back so we can be her through DS college graduation on the 19th. I'm always glad the "next" day when I stay out of trouble, but the day that the bad thoughts are in my head....they sure are persistent!!! One day at a time.

Hello friends! It was a gorgeous day! Great day for baseball --finally! Of course they play their fastest games when it's not freezing out! I rode 35 miles yesterday, 15 today. I walked up the stairs to work and my legs were NOT happy! I'm supposed to ride tommorow, 15 again. Wednesday I'm picking up alexis for the summer! I can't believe it's been a year.
Amy, safe travels. I loved the qotd yesterday.
Gg, my ride is July 21-28. We start riding on the 22nd. I hope your back feels better.
Jan, that's nice they are letting you stay the extra days. When does dh come back?

Hi All!
My DBBIL decided to visit on his way to visit his half sister, aka, my "half" sister in law (??) in NC. On of DH's friends told me that DH is smiling down because though he didn't want anything to do with his brother, at least DS and I are trying to continue a family connection. DH's family is messy at best and at worse. I am sure as we all progress in life, many issues are white washed/reinvented/just plain mis remembered (to be kind). It isn't that I have a great memory but there are issues that are just burnt into my memory from discussions with DH and with some photos to prove stuff. DS was at home so I didn't mind having DBBIL here for a few days (though it messed with my computer time!) but would not have him here at the house without another person He wouldn't do anything, steal anything, there is just a creep factor. His half sister supposedly has a "proposition" for him that should pay per article written and published, all political. Time will tell....but as he drives back to his home in TX, I can see that he may decide to stop by on his way home. I know this probably doesn't make a great deal of sense but....
Amy, safe travels! Wish I was still in Austin so we could meet up! Enjoy time with Mom and family and then with sons!
Jan, will you be close enough to your sister to be able to "use" her doctors to switch out care? I always found trying to find new doctors one of the hardest parts of moving, plus that weired 10K expense that always seemed to appear. Sounds like you have wonderful buyers. When we took possession of our home in Washington the sellers left a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of flowers for us. I usually just left notes and suggestions of repair people that we had used successfully. Is DS excited about your move?
GG, I hope you are feeling better today. Is DH enjoying his retirement?
Carole, congrats on winning the lottery to be part of the bike ride and I hope you are able to work out a meeting with JJ! Photos but of course!! Is anything provided, tents? food? etc? Did anyone you know win the lottery? Sounds like a wonderful time! Maybe you could provide a travel post each day....because then I can sit back and watch and marvel and say GO CAROLE!!!! I am assuming knees are healed and kids are in summer mode.
Liz, how is the foot and more importantly how are you feeling from the auto accident? Hugs! Has DD and DBF made any more decisions about the wedding? Okay because of my age (doddering), maybe use a bit of guilt.....a wonderful wedding at Cape Cod and then off to a destination honeymoon.....again, my age is causing this.
Murphy, I need to go back and read posts because I don't know where you are! I hope everything is okay. Hugs! How is your cousin doing?
A friend of mine's car was extremely hailed damaged and it has been in the shop. It was a fairly new car so needs new parts....she had to turn in the rental car today though her car isn't ready. Went to pick her up...45 miles one way....the car roof is not in but the insurance won't pay for anymore rental charges. She wants to turn in the car, once repaired, to the dealership and cancel the loan....I tried to explain to her that it doesn't work that way but she is going to try. This is my friend that works retail and she has not been getting any bonuses and living off draw. Buying the car was very much an impulse decision and she still has not sold her old car. We went to lunch and I brought her back home. It is her sister's home and she apologized about not inviting me in because the place is a mess. I have never been in the house. I don't care what it looks like but will not push her.
The rains were torrential....yard is a mess....no lilies blossoming....we are in the nineties tomorrow so I guess yard work is on my schedule. Keeping my eyes on Mother's Day flowers....they are usually great for my flower boxes.
Hugs to all, thinking early bedtime. Cindy
