Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

THE AMAZING AF MAY CHALLENGE May 1-31
What are your goals? What are you doing to obtain results? Are you getting the support you need? Are you doing what you need to be doing?
Our current challenge is to have an Amazing AF May. What makes an Amazing May? The answers are varied….losing weight, being AF, feeling stronger, knowing you are doing your best are but a few answers. During our Amazing AF May challenge take as many steps as you can to be the Amazing You! Plan ahead. Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. Post your goal and the steps needed to reach it. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
How are you going to keep your head in the game? How are you reaching the decision each and every day to choose not to drink?
Refocus on why you are a member of this board. What do you hope to achieve? Are you looking to be AF or AIM? Have you done some soul searching?
Are you doing daily battle in your head about drinking? Is drinking helping you become the amazing person you are? How does drinking help support your goals? If you slip, post to the board and find understanding. If you slip and report being AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
Plan, plan, plan! Take it one day/meal/snack at a time and plan meals/menu for the next day. Do not plan A into your menu. However, if you have A, track it. As with all our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some, making the commitment for May is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. Feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. If you are looking to control the A in your life, this board may be for you.
Track your food, drink your water, move a little more than you currently do.
YOU ARE AMAZING ! BELIEVE IT AND LET"S HAVE AN AMAZING AF MAY!

Finally got to 10,000 steps as I was going to bed last night. We walked around Walmart yesterday and also did loops around the farm. The weather has been gorgeous, other than strong thunderstorms after 11pm last night. Between that and DH snoring, I had trouble falling asleep. Probably will be a nap later today.
Today is my older sister's birthday. I don't think there are any plans to celebrate today. Also meeting some friends of DMIL for lunch. Not really looking forward to it, but they invited us and they were so good to DMIL after DFIL passed away.
We had burgers from Culver's yesterday. It was on my to-do list, since I had never been there. They were pretty good- similar to Steak n Shake.

Murphy- Yay for taking some time to unplug. I'll have to try it someday, lol.
GG- Yay for being down 1.6!
Jan- Yay for the 11K steps and getting more packing done! I did do some plastic canvas stitching in the car.
Liz- Yay for your car being repairable and for the ankle getting better!
Cindy- Sorry about the fire ants, but yay for getting stuff done outside. When we do the farm loop, I always pick up sticks. I imagine there will be a lot more today.

Good morning all! I woke up to the sounds of a torrential downpour this morning only to find that when I got to work only 12 miles from my home, it hadn't rained a drop! I think it is supposed to be kind of hit and miss all day today with showers and storms. Would make a good day to stay at home. I think that is one thing I look forward to retirement about the most - not having to get out if I don't want to! LOL
Amy - yay for getting your steps in!
Liz - I'm so glad they think they can get the car fixed without having to total it! Hope your ankle continues to heal.
Cindy - I didn't realize that fire ants were that big of a problem! That's not something that we deal with in TN that I'm aware of.
Carole - is your DD still getting the botox shots for her headaches? Seems like I've had more trouble this year with migraines and I wondered about talking with my doctor about that. I've heard very mixed reports about that special kind of ear cartilage piercing that helps some people but is not working for others. Just wondered.
Jan - glad that DH make it home ok!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Murphy

Good morning!
Last night ended up to be a munchy night, not bad stuff, just too much. Of course, the three vodka's on the rocks triggered the munchies! I am trying so hard to at least focus on one thing by eating right, but trying to get rid of the A has been really difficult. So without the exercise and still having A, I am not getting under the 200 mark.
Amy~So glad you are enjoying being home!
Barb~Unplugging for a while is good for the soul. I hear you about retirement! My favorite dream is being able to roll over at 5:30 AM, lol!
Waving hello to GG, Jan, Cindy, and Carole!

Good morning. Fly by for me too. Stayed in my points but also got in the A again!!! Duh, corona light, had the points but not the best use. Just feels so much like the routine, sit out on the patio, have a beer, maybe a fire pit. Don't want to keep beating myself up but also know it's not in my best interest. Will have some grace for the next few weeks, know part is stress, helps me "sleep" (not really I know), keep it in my points and track honestly is the best I can seem to do for now. Lots of work in the garage today, Sale tomorrow and then dump or goodwill. Hope to at least make some gas money :0 Boy comes home tonight, that helps with moving some heavy things around. Sewed all my sweater sleeves on and now need help picking up stitches to add the neckline. Will go to the store today to get started and then I can finish this weekend!!! Have a fabulous day all.

Hi girls. This is my long day, but I am starting to enjoy these afternoons to myself! I do what needs done and then I can get on the internet, read a book, or whatever I want! If I had a cot or a lawn chair, I would take a nap!! Lol
We've been talking about being mindful this week, and why we eat when we aren't hungry. Someone today talked about being mindful WHEN we eat, and to slow down and savor and not do other things while we eat. I came back and ate my lunch slowly and really chewed it and enjoyed it. And only ate about half of what I brought! Plus someone mentioned nibbling on something. I do not nibble. I shovel. I nibbled on my strawberries today instead of putting them in my mouth whole. I,was, pretty proud of myself!! Lol
Sorry to all that are having trouble with the A. I think you are right, Jan. We have to break the habit of having A at certain times, like on the porch in the evening. I thought last night how nice it would be to sit out with a glass of wine or a beer. The first time we change that behavior will be the hardest. I also read this today: The easiest bite to say no to is the first one. We could say the same thing with A, definitely!!
Amy: Hope you sleep better tonight! I did an at home sleep study last night, but when I woke up, the batteries had died. I'm going to try again tonight.
Murphy: Thunder and a downfall at 5 woke me up this morning. Just in time to take my thyroid pill so I could have my coffee at 6!
Liz: It's all hard until we get our mindset right. But you did it before, and you can do it again!!
Cindy: If I was by myself, I would move to a place where they do all that outside stuff for me. DH has spoiled me.
I'm working tomorrow, so no Gma day for me. I'm also going to the dr. To see what is up with my back/legs. DS is having brunch for us on Saturday and then I am headed up to my Moms for a couple of days.
Have a good, AF evening!!

Hi GG Thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm thinking a new view, location, house and routine will help me make better choices, but also know I have to want it and do it!!! Have a good day tomorrow, hope you get some answers from the Dr.

Hello friends! I don't get on here as much as I want because I have to use my tablet and I'm not always in the living room where I keep it. Anyway, I finally had a decent eating day. It was gorgeous out today! I did a little gardening and costco run. Alexis is home! We filled the van to the brim, by the time she gets it put away it'll be time to go back!
Amy, have fun with your mom! When do you head to TX?
Jan, I bet you're so happy ds is home! When do you go to WI?
I have to go! Have a great night!
