We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Both parties have some thinking to do.
i like to explore in multiple years-tested reliable sources and articles with bibliographies. In Az we know about borders. Build a bigger wall, they get a taller ladder as one gov, said. The money would be better spent repairing bridges, dams, railroads and such. One day the hackers who have been testing the airlines and shutting them down one at a time will do them all for some reason and we will need the good old railroads like WW2.
a good set of small drones watching the border with strategically placed intercept patrols would be more effective and cheaper. East Germany built the wall and then had to have guards all along it anyway. And they did not have to build it along a river which will erode the base.

WASHINGTON â A Republican lawmaker in Texas who proposed a bill that would criminalize abortion said the policy would force women to be âmore personally responsibleâ for their sexual behavior.
âRight now, itâs real easy,â State Rep. Tony Tinderholt (R) told the Texas Observer. âRight now, they donât make it important to be personally responsible because they know that they have a backup of âoh, I can just go get an abortion.â Now, we both know that consenting adults donât always think smartly sometimes. But consenting adults need to also consider the repercussions of the sexual relationship that theyâre gonna have, which is a child.â
Tinderholtâs bill, the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act, would ban abortion at every stage of pregnancy and amend the stateâs penal code to allow women and providers to be charged with murder for the procedure. The bill has no exceptions for rape or incest, because Tinderhold said he doesnât think âthere should be any exceptions to murder, no matter what.â .............
OMG...WTH...Unbelievable. Well, maybe not, considering the insanity running rampent.....

WASHINGTON â A Republican lawmaker in Texas who proposed a bill that would criminalize abortion said the policy would force women to be âmore personally responsibleâ for their sexual behavior. What about those sperm donors? Typical old male, it's always the woman's job to be "more personally responsible." That is such a disgusting double standard, even if you don't take into account any of the other issues that surround abortion. Personally, I don't think there are any women out there who would be stupid enough to prefer to have an abortion simply as a means of birth control. Even in the best of circumstances there are serious health risks. It must be an agonizing decision, and not one that some government official should be making for any woman.

Linda- You are suggesting reason to the unreasonable and closed minded. (DT)
This wall thing is creeping me out. Walls can keep people in as well as out.
Sending the Feds into Chicago? Is that the first step toward controlling the Sanctuary Cities?

The idea of sending in the Federal government when a state has not requested help really makes cold chills run down my spine, and I'm a "yellow dog" Democrat. I can't imagine how Republicans are reconciling such a thing with their party's platform. Isn't one of their biggest issues limiting the power of the Feds or does that only apply when a Democrat is in the White House?

Anyone watching Mercy Street on PBS? I recorded Sunday's segment and watched last night. I liked it, but it was a bit confusing as this was the first episode of the 2nd season and I had not seen any of the first season. Anyone know where I might find season one?

I told DH he should start putting his card/coffee money into a savings jar now that WE have to pay for a wall ...do people really believe that Mexico is going to pay for this or that the GOP congress is going to apprpropiate $$$ for this. Good Grief, this is coming out of our pockets in taxes ...Tweety & his swamp don't have to worry, they don't pay taxes...so yeah for more taxes...NOT! ..BOO HISS...........
A look into state records by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune revealed that Steve Bannon, Trumpâs senior White House adviser, is in fact registered to vote in two states.
Though Bannon cast his vote in New York, he is also registered to vote in Sarasota County, Florida. His status in both places remains active, according to records obtained by the Herald-Tribune.
As The Guardian points out, it isnât illegal to be registered to vote in two states, only to cast ballots in two states. Itâs unclear if Trump knows that. But if the presidentâs plan is to conduct sweeping investigations into everyone registered to vote in two states, he had better start with one of his closest allies.

Package on its way...You can find the bench right by the soapbox, so, try not to confuse the two when the package arrives. đ
