Good morning everyone.
This thread is for anyone that has been away from WWs, had a gain, and is recommitting to the program. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. We love to use first names here, so tell us yours when you post.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes it is harder to keep it off and even if we fail, we keep trying, which is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, I count on talking to you guys each day and I am blessed to count you as friends.

Good morning all. I hear it will be over 50 here today although with a good chance of rain. That's ok, I'll take it. Am going to babysit DGS this morning before going to a meeting in the city in the late afternoon. I have a lot of travel logistics today as a result but seeing that baby will be more than adequate compensation.
The scale is showing I'm down a pound since last WI so let's keep fingers crossed that it doesn't do a jump up before Saturday. It was even lower on Monday but I'm getting to see my weight fluctuates a lot during the week so am not letting it unnerve me. The only thing a little discouraging is that in order to lose weight, I have to eat just my 30 daily points, and sometimes I don't eat all of those (but once this week I was over by 6), in order to lose. It is what it is, I suppose, for my age and activity level, or lack of it.
Have a great day, all.

Good morning friends,
Andi - When I was counting with WW, most of the time I was never able to use weeklies and still lose. The time period that I was able to use weeklies and still lose was when I was doing 4 classes a week as well as an hour or so of elliptical twice a week - so 6 hours of fairly serious activity a week. During that phase I was able to use about 1/2 my weeklies and still lose. I know it's frustrating and kind of hard to think about, but golly those extra points added back in when it came time to switch to maintenance felt like a luxurious treat everyday. Using just the basic daily points was something I got used to, and after I stopped psyching myself out regarding it, I realized that I was not starving myself, in fact I was satisfied and it was fine. I just had to really keep focus on the plan and the goal, and choose foods that gave me the most bang for my buck. I know y'all have heard this a million time, but I'm a volume eater - so that meant lots of veggies, lean protein, and limited carbs. The less processed foods I ate, the easier it was - point wise, counting wise, and craving wise.
Susie - I hope you got better sleep last night. Congrats on selling the truck. I hope you and DH enjoyed the evening.
Jana - was your lunch yesterday a frozen meal? What brand? I love quinoa anything :-) I'm thinking about the challenge and will let you know what I decide on. Your goal sounds good, you'd be stretching yourself from your current situation, but still definitely attainable. I may have missed it, do you have a date for surgery yet.
Amanda & Susie - almost 20 years ago I did 8 days in Italy out of 1 small carry-on. The temps were very favorable, so I did 4 pairs of capris - 3 khaki and 2 black I think - and 1 pair of black slacks. Comfortable sneakers, 1 pair of flats, 3 light cardigans, (3/4 sleeve in basic colors - black, white, tan) and probably about 12 tops - colorful tank tops or T's in solid or prints. This gave me so many possible combinations and with a few jewelry additions could dress up an outfit easily if the dinner plans required it.
No real plans for today. I'm just sitting back and seeing where the day takes me. It might just take me to the den with a book and a cup of coffee...Ha! We're supposed to have some rain moving in here in a little while, so it that's the case, I'll probably stick close to home.
Have a great day everyone! BBL

Good morning friends.
Andi congrats on the scale moving and fingers crossed that it holds out for your weigh in
Lora my surgery is Feb. 1st at noon. I go tomorrow to do all the pre-op stuff.
The quinoa was a frozen meal from Kroger and it was the Kroger brand. Bird's Eye has a couple of different ones too. I like the Southwest one that Bird's Eye has and I actually liked the Kroger one yesterday too. They are all 2 servings but I can only ever eat half and I keep the other half until the next day to eat.
I had a good day yesterday until after dinner. Dinner was just a few oz of pork chop and Brussels sprouts and within 30 minutes the pain was back. I took something to help me sleep last night and this morning I am tender again and achy. I am glad I do not have to go through this to much longer.
Work has calmed down a little bit and I have my fingers crossed that I will get those last 4 manuals done today!
Hope everyone has a great day.

Jana - thanks for the info on the frozen meals. I'll check them out the next time I'm shopping. I'm sorry that your dinner has you hurting again. I hope today is better for you.

Good Morning ROs...not a good sleeping night, but that seems to be the pattern for me (and my DS as well so maybe it is an age thing). Got to my early morning gym class that I go to on Tues/Thurs. They get me up and going...lots of stretches. I will go back again later this morning or afternoon while DH lifts weights and just ride the bike and read. Dinner last night was lovely - they are the dearest friends, but with special dinners for the last 3 days, I have gained each day...watching intake seriously today!
Andi - how wonderful to get to spend the day with DGS. I was just thinking off calling my DS and asking if I can pick up Gavin after school today so he can spend a little time with us.
Lora - thanks for the packing advice - that sounds good and besides, I guess if I got desperate DD would have something I could borrow - ha
Jana - sure hope you get those last few manuals done - then you will have nothing to worry about at work while you recover

I'm at DGS's house and he's down for a nap, in fact DS put him down just before I got here so I haven't seen him yet. DS is also around, will try to close himself off in his bedroom while I'm here so he can work - he couldn't go to the office since I have to leave for a meeting at 2. I had my breakfast and a cup off coffee and now am just hanging out online until DGS wakes up. Susie, hope you get some Gavin time today!
Jana, sorry that such a small meal caused you pain and still soreness today. Wow, good there's only another few days of this, although for you they must seem unending.
Lora, thanks for reminding me what you did when you were so successful with WW and how much exercise I will need to do to be able to eat some weeklies. But you're right, in fact most days the points I get are totally adequate and last night, even though I was under by a few, I wasn't hungry so didn't eat them. In some ways the old WW program would work better for me where you had a range every day and could "bank" points for another day or later in the week. I of course could still do that unofficially... Hmmm, may try it. Lora, why aren't you doing WW these days and what are you doing instead? I know I asked you this before but managed to miss your answer, sorry.
OK, better do some work while the baby is sleeping.

Good news! DD is on her way over and we're going to head to the big park for some walking. We may try to do Stone Mountain tomorrow - we would have today, but didn't plan ahead, and DH has the parking pass in his car. I'm not going to spend $15 to park just so DD and I can walk a few miles. We might try for that tomorrow.
Andi - I've set my fitbit app up to be in "Losing mode" so it gives me a calorie target for the day, and I do my tracking there as well. I stopped doing WW because I was paying so much and not really using it. The only reason I ever really tracked there was because I was going there anyway for the message boards. I knew once they killed off the message boards, I would never be able to get myself there for tracking. Also, my company and WW parted ways. We used to get a company discount for us and any family members. It saved us about 30% on whatever level of membership we had. That's gone now, so it felt doubly not worth it to me. Ya know?

Andi, I feel the same way, if I stick within my points, and don't use weeklies, or use very few, which probably balance out with my days that are below points, I lose, otherwise, not so much. I keep saying I am going to start wearing my fitbit again, but haven't yet. I also should get out and go to the gym more. I fluctuate also during the week, but hopefully overall will lose. So far, so good. Although I was up a lot after New Year's, I have tracked every day since, and am down 7.5 lbs since January 3rd. I have yet to get back to meetings, but spend too much time reading WW posts on Facebook probably, so that really reinforces the eating plan.
Lora, so glad that you can get in time with your DD. Nice to have those days off like that.
Susie, I feel that my sleep problems are due to age. I wouldn't have thought as much of it, except when I saw Menopause the Musical, there were jokes about the not sleeping.
Jana, glad you have the surgery scheduled, hope all goes well.
Amanda, I think you can do it as far as packing goes. I think the temperature range at that time of year is similar to when we were in China. I took some thermal undershirts and pants, turtlenecks, and thin sweaters, so layered to keep me warm. We were gone for a longer time and spent some time in Shanghai too which was warmer, so checked luggage, but still couldn't take an endless amount. If you have good winter boots you should wear them on the plane. They will keep you warmer there when you are walking around than sneakers will.

Darn it - I counted wrong and I actually had 5 more manuals to do. I have gotten 2 done today and looked down and I still had 3 more to go <ugh> but things are fairly quiet here today so I am getting through them.
Lora I was wrong about the Birds Eye packs - they are not quinoa - they are called protein blends - the southwest one has a blend of whole grains, black beans, corn, lentils, red bell peppers and a zesty sauce - sometimes I will top with a dollop of light sour cream. They are a little high in calories 320 for 1 cup but that is 14g of protein and I can't eat a whole cup of it. I feel satisfied for awhile after eating one.
Pain again after lunch - I think it is just aggravated now and I just have to wait for it to calm itself back down. If it is still bothering me tonight I will just have a protein shake or something for dinner and leave DH and DS on their own for dinner.
Amanda I am seriously jealous of your Iceland trip. I would have never thought about going there on my own but it sounds so exciting and different.

Hi everyone!
Jana the Iceland trip was really a whim. One day last summer I started looking at Travel Zoo and found a deal. I asked my friend what she thought and we booked the next day. They do direct flights from Baltimore. I found a small "personal item" bag that fits the measurements yesterday morning.
My packing plan is probably to rotate just between 2 pair of pants (we're only there 4 nights) so maybe I'll pack a 3rd pair. I'm also thinking of alternating a couple of sweaters but bringing long johns to wear under... so it's not dirty, right? Probably just bringing my hiking shoes which will be on my feet. :-) I'm still looking into other things - like is it worth opening a credit card with no foreign transaction fee?
I'm sure I'll have tons of pictures - so I will post them when I get back in late march - haha.
I'm planning to put Saturday morning as my new starting weight (I hope I can figure that out). I haven't been to WI in almost a month which is super unusual for me. They were closed for snow one week, then I had a work commitment at 8:45 am and couldn't get there, and then last weekend I was out of town. So it will be a moment of truth.

Amanda, on a new credit card I would bet they might get you for some kind of fee anyway if they don't charge a transaction fee, or they will give you a different exchange rate. You can also withdraw money with your ATM card. You get the best exchange rate that way. Sounds like you have a good plan, maybe 2 thermals, and alternate. I don't really sweat, so could work for me. Also, if you buy the silk thermals, you can rinse them out at night and they dry quickly. I saw that Travel Zoo thing because DH has always talked about going back with me. We will do it one day I am sure.
Jana, any chance that you could have become gluten intolerant? Or maybe the "zesty" is bothering you?

Good afternoon, Well DD and I had a really good walk. We walked for an 80 minutes, and got 4.5 miles in. On the way back to the house, we stopped by the grocery store and picked up a couple of pre-made salads from the deli, and brought them back home and had lunch together before she headed back to her house. We may try to go to the mountain tomorrow - just depending on how my sciatic feels. It's a little twitchy right now, so I'll be doing stretches off and on for the rest of the day to try to relieve it. Also I took some naproxem to see if that might help. Amanda - I'm not sure how Iceland would be, but when we went to Italy, there was and bank at the airport where we could exchange US for Lira or Euros. At that time, the fee was less than what my CC would have charged. Also, I used my Debit Card several times and the fee was not outrageous. It's good that you are looking into all of your options now. Have you thought about your phone? Most carriers will add international calling for just certain days - you don't have to pay for it for a whole billing cycle. Also, many places international will have free wifi (coffee houses, restaurants, etc) so that's always helpful to find those places as well.

DH and I went to the gym so I got a double workout today. DS said it will actually help him if I pick up Gavin today so that is great. It is sooo windy here...on our way home from the gym we noticed that our neighbor across the street has tree against his house!
Amanda - this past summer DH and I applied for an American Express through Delta Airlines because we could get bonus miles. We will not keep it for more than a year because there was no fee for the first year, but the miles are good forever so if we are ever able to travel again maybe we can use them. Anyway, there is no international fees so I will take that card with me when I go to Spain.
Lora - glad you got a walk in in DD - made it doubly special.
Robin - I have never heard of silk thermal underwear. Do you have tops and bottoms? Where did you get them?

Jana, forgot to say I am with you for that tracking challenge. I have been tracking religiously since January 3rd. The only thing that works, in my opinion.
Lora, sounds like you had a nice day with DD, and such a good walk. Do you do exercises for the sciatica where you lay on your back? I was given those and found it really worked. Keeping my fingers crossed on my back issues for now.
Susie, I know they sell those thermal silks on Amazon, and at the ski shops, but there is also a discount clothing store that is only in NY, Century 21, and they carry them. They have 2 in Manhattan, the Queens, Brooklyn, and the Long Island one that is about 10 minutes from me.
