Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Haircut this morning and Fred takes the car in at 1 to get it rechecked as to why it's not cooling again! Maija has one exam this morning and then Debbie is taking her to what I hope is her last counseling session with her father as I don't see it doing her any good as all it does is make her angry. After that either Maija or Fred will take Debbie back to work as the car getting checked is the one with a parking permit on it for Debbie to park at the hospital where she works.
Jeff's case is continued to June 28 so we don't know what that means. Maybe he pleaded not guilty and will have a jury trial? But until it happens and results posted we won't know anything for sure.
My weight is up big time but I think with all the heat and humidity I might be retaining water even though I am drinking a lot of it!

Good Morning!
Last night I went to yoga class. I was surprised at how light the traffic was and got there in half the time. I think it must be because school is out. We did Dragon series which is very active and a little challenging for me, so I skipped Body Flow.
Gail, I, too, am working on clearing my body of the foods I don't normally eat. So far, so good. It should be easy with Mike gone this week.
QOTD: Have you heard of intermittent fasting? - Intermittent fasting involves eating 500 calories 1 to 2 days a week, or going 12 to 18 hours a day without food (maybe eating from 10 am to 6 pm). Would you consider doing this to lose a little weight?
Time to get ready for yoga. BBL

Good morning.
I’m up early and everyone else is still sleeping. After the DK arrived, we stayed up talking to the wee hours.
I just wanted to answer the Q: Yes I’ve tried IF a few years ago. I was going along great tracking, measuring and losing a little at a time. Then IF threw me off that regimen and I struggled to get some food routine back in my life. In theory it is an excellent and healthy way to get your body back to normal blood sugars etc. it did not work for me. If you are interested, check out Michael Mosley IF.
Have a good day all.

good morning
Don sees the oncologist this morning and then we must go to Walmart and I have P T at 3 so I probably won't get anything else done. If the oncologist visit is timely I will go to the dinner theater to pick up tickets for when Jeff is here. If I order them on line it cost $9 extra so about a 10 min. drive from the oncologist at this time of year and time of day if we aren't there for more than 90 min. Don can stay in the car while I make that stop. After today's P T I only plan to go one more time and save the rest of the visits for P T in case they are needed during the rest of the year. I can do that at home now. I am going to buy a bigger noodle today which should help with my water anxiety. I hope I can get to the pool after all of this but it will probably be raining by then.

Good morning!
We got some rain yesterday but we're still 3 inches below normal. Today we're back in the heat and humidity.
My DGD is coming over tonight for a sleepover. My DD/family are leaving for a family vacation in Gulf Shores on Sunday and she wanted to spend the night before they left. It will give my DD some quiet time to get everyone packed since they have to be at the airport around 5am on Sunday.
Today is my busy day so I'm leaving in a few minutes and won't be home until later on this afternoon with the exception of a quick stop here to get groceries put away before I need to be at church.
AOTD: No, I've never tried intermittent fasting although I have tried the Wendie Plan a few years ago.

Vicki: How did the Wendie Plan work for you? We had a discussion about it a few years back with a long time member of this board.
Good Morning!
I will have another low key day today. I guess I'll sort some more old fiber magazines. I'm itching to get outside. It is beautiful and I want to dig in the dirt.
ATQOTD: I know fasting isn't for me. If I skip a meal I can feel my blood sugar crashing and I get light headed. I think the Wendie Plan is more my speed! But truly, I want a plan I can live with easily from day to day without counting and agonizing over every morsel. I am staying on WW online for the scanner because, right now, it is a good guide for me. I do think watching carbs works for me. I hate to spend the money for a scanner, but for the moment, it is useful.
Sharon: Enjoy those kids!
Jane: I hope you will keep up your water exercise. I hope Don's appointment goes smoothly.
While I was trying to keep myself from moving too much, I started watching an interesting(?) program on Netflix, Dr. Foster. It is about a female doctor who suspects her husband is being unfaithful. It is an unusual program. I'm enjoying it very much, sort of a soft thriller. It is very difficult to explain, but I think worth a try. I'm hooked!

Good morning. Critters are all fed and I am settling in with yogurt, berries and decaf. Today is crochet group and I am taking the puppies in for all to see. I have to cut their nails, and there are a few in this group and will help me with this task. Emma and I are leaving crochet early to go to lunch at First Watch with two other friends. We try to get together at least four times a year. We missed spring this year so this may be spring/summer. I do see Emma frequently and I have a meal with one other DF occasionally, but the four of us is rather difficult to schedule.
I never tried any type of diet other than WW and low carbs.
We are under Code Red for weather today. Bad storms are coming in later this afternoon and overnight will be the worst. Lots of wind and hail are predicted. Certainly not my favorite type of weather.
Sharon enjoy your family.
Sandy he probably did plead not guilty. Some day this will all be resolved and your girls will be able to move forward with their lives.
Jane I wish the best for Don's appointment and your "hanging". I often use two small noodles when in the pool with the grands.
Hope everyone is safe and dry today.

I hope you get that cooling fixed in the car, Sandy. The warm weather is finally coming.
AOTD (good question, Ruth): Mort used to do IF. It worked for him. It does NOT work for me. My body reacts and I feel dizzy. There are some days when I am not so hungry and I just eat less. Not eating the foods that become triggers is what really works. It is harder when I have given in as my body wants more. That is what I am struggling with now. Yesterday was a good one.
Awoke this morning with a bad cold. Ugh! It started on my left side and I still have very few symptoms on the right side of my head. Weird. I am about to gargle warm salt water. I skipped yoga this morning to rest more.
I am going to Niagara Falls with DDIL, her mom, and the West Coast DKs at the beginning of August. I was looking up activities. The last time I went there and did anything other than look was when I was in high school and I don't remember much. Did any of you ever do Maid of the Mist or Cave of the Winds? Both sound good. Any other activities you would recommend?
Book Club today. The author of our book, Laura Harrington, is NOT coming and everyone is disappointed. I liked the book, A CATALOG OF BIRDS, especially the way the two main characters tuned into the sounds of birds and nature. I also liked the references to Geneva NY, where I started college. One character's PTSD from service in Vietnam was too upsetting for some. Should be a good discussion.
Off to shower. The steam should help with my breathing.
Have a good one all.
Gail

What sparked today's QOTD was an article I read in the April 9, 2018 issue of FIRST magazine on page 24 from Naomi Whittel's book Glow15. I thought I might try it a few days to see if I can detox from the over-feeding I have been doing. Today for lunch I had 1/2 avocado stuffed with black beans and fresh salsa. It was very good but I can see I am probably going to need a snack soon. The Wendie plan did work for me when I was plateauing but have not done that in a few years.
Jane, Mike threw my 2 foam noodles away. They were starting to fall apart anyway, so yesterday I went to Target and picked up 3 of the big foam noodles. When I got them home I noticed one was 6 inches shorter than the other, so I took it back today.
Vicki, I hope your busy day goes well. Enjoy that overnight with DGD.
Gail, I loved Nigara Falls. We did do the Maid of the Mist. I would recommend it. It gives you a different perspective of the falls. Plan on getting wet. Be sure to see the falls from the Canadian side (my favorite side), too.

Gail, Our book club is today, too. We read AMERICANAH by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It is good but so LONG! I am not finished and will probably not finish by the time of book club. Have you read it?

I did not read AMERICANAH, Ruth, but a number of people I know recommended it. I just put it on my list.
Our book club meeting was really good. I highly recommend A CATALOG OF BIRDS. Everyone thought it was beautifully written and that it felt very real. Yes, some members had trouble reading about the tragedy of the main character who came back from Vietnam so wounded physically and emotionally that he could no longer live the kind of life he wanted. But we were able to talk about that.
I am feeling ROTTEN. Trying to keep hydrated and get lots of rest. Also gargling with warm salt water to soothe my throat. I probably should not have gone to book club and hope no one comes down with this cold. I was waiting for someone to come out of the clubhouse afterward and thought my car was in park. Not so fast, Gail! Without knowing it I inched forward and hit the car in front of me hard enough to dent it. I told my friend I would pay for any damages and a rental car, but still. I think I am just not functioning so well. Early to bed tonight!
Were some of us supposed to meet up next week? I had it on my calendar for Saturday, June 2. Ann, you were on the list. Marlo too. Is this a pipe dream?
Closing down on a decision about a vacation in August with the kids. One possibility is to have LL Bean set us up for camping in Freeport and combine that with a stay at a hotel somewhere on the way back or nearby. Ann, Karen, Joanne, etc: any suggestions for a town to stay at that would have lots to do? The kids are 13 and 15. I love Acadia, but am not sure about driving so far. I get tired these days. Thanks for any suggestions.
Time for some hot tea.

Ruth and Gail: My book group read Americanah and I thought it was a powerful book.
Gail: June 2 is not on my calendar, are you thinking about a possible meeting in September with Geri? Marlo has been MIA, probably busy with little Hazel and her other charges. June 2 is out for me! Let me think about the Freeport, Acadia trip. Take care of yourself and feel better! Hunker down, I think it is the best medicine.
Watching the fascinating news of the day!

Speaking of getting together, Ann, Gail, Joanne, and anyone close to the area... I will be in VT July 23 through Aug 5. Would really love to meet up with any of you interested that can. I don't know what my availability will be as we will be staying with our friend that is renting a house from May to Oct but hope we can make this work.
