Good morning everyone.
This thread is for anyone that has been away from WWs, had a gain, and is recommitting to the program. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. We love to use first names here, so tell us yours when you post.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes it is harder to keep it off and even if we fail, we keep trying, which is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, I count on talking to you guys each day and I am blessed to count you as friends.

Good morning friends, Happy Friday everyone! My leg and hip are feeling good this morning, so DD and I are going to tackle the mountain later this morning. Yay! I'm not sure yet whether we're going to stick to the trails, walk the paved loop around the base of the mountain, or tackle the rock face itself. But any of those would be fine with me. She's coming over about 9, we're waiting until work & school traffic drops off on the 2 lane road we have to take. After the hike we'll probably grab some lunch - something healthy of course After a whole week of good eating, and the scale either edging up or holding steady, I finally saw a small drop this morning, so I'm pleased with that. Jana - I think I've decided on my Feb. challenge parameters. Tracking = to track everything I eat, everyday. Mon thru Fri Activity = 3 days with 30 minutes of purposeful activity. Weekend Goal = 90 minutes of purposeful activity. I listed it as "purposeful" activity, because I don't want to count what FitBit tracks as "active minutes" from just walking around the building at work, or carrying groceries into the house.

Hi Everyone, Lora, have a great hike with you daughter at Stone Mountain. Jana, I hope that your surgery will eliminate the pain you are and have been experiencing. I didn't go to work today as I haven't been feeling well since yesterday. I started to feel chilled. When I came home I took my temperature and it was almost 101. I took Ibuprofen and when I woke up in didn't have but still feeling crappy. I now have one again so glad I decided to stay home. I may go out and get some cough syrup in a bit. I I read recently that the ingredient in pineapple juice is naturally helps coughing. ( bromelain). Maybe I should try that but I think pineapple juice may have a lot of sugar in it so I will have to check it out. I know the cough medicine I get usually helps though for sure so will probably stick with that. Have a great day.

Janet - I'm sorry you're feeling bad. I hope you get on top of it soon. Yes, I believe you are correct, in that all fruit juices are fairly high in sugar. Fingers crossed that you find something that will help you get to feeling better quickly.
So I was starting to get my clothes together for hiking, and I thought I should check the weather to see how heavy I need to layer. Ummm, so it's currently 35 degrees with a wind chill of 29. Lol. Brrrrrr! I hadn't counted on it being quite that chilly. Apparently the high today is only supposed to be around 47, so not exactly the 70s we had last week - but definitely more normal for this time of year. I messaged DD to see if she was still up for it this morning and she said yes. We did decide to not try to tackle getting to the top of the mountain today. It's just a giant, bare, unprotected hunk of granite, and the winds at the top are fairly brisk, even in favorable weather. So we'll be sticking to a trail hike or the sidewalk loop. I'm hoping for a trail hike, it's just so much prettier and feels like you're a million miles from civilization, and a little more challenging, and is not as hard on my knees as the sidewalk.

Good morning everyone -
Thanks for the thoughts about the credit cards abroad. I had thought about using a credit card to easily just swipey swipe but I do think withdrawing the cash will keep me on budget and limit the extra fees. I have thought about wifi - I know our hotel has it and Reykjavik (where we are staying) seems to be a pretty modern city. So even if I don't get international calling on my cell phone I can connect with wifi. I do think it's worth looking into having service IF ONLY for the days that we're in the rental car. The areas we're going to are heavily traveled but if our car broke down or something, I wouldn't want to be stranded.
RobinS - I am a sweaty person but it should be pretty cold in March up in Iceland. I planned to bring enough pair of thermals to wear a different set underneath each day. We'll see when my tiny duffel bag actually gets here what is realistically going to fit. Haha.
I'm really trying for a major reset starting with my weigh in tomorrow. I do want to track it all and approach the program like a new member. The past few weeks I've been really focusing on getting in more vegetables (fruit, too). I have been making some "green" smoothies (usually mine turn out this gross brown color - but they taste okay). I've been putting in an orange, about a cup of frozen strawberries, 1-2 carrots, and a big handful of spinach. I know that WW technically wants you to count the points for those things (from back when they had points) if you blend them but I think that's just goofy. I've only added a little bit of water to the mix so no sweeteners or milk or anything. It's not super delicious but it doesn't taste terrible. And I know my body is benefiting from those nutrients. I don't have a problem eating the vegetables - it's just an easy way to keep everything raw and not add anything to it. We'll see if I continue with it!
Janet - I've heard that about pineapple juice too - I've wondered if eating just the pineapple itself would help since the juice has to be in the fruit too. I hope you feel better soon!
Anyway -I hope everyone has a happy Friday!

Good Morning ROs...had a little better night...went to my morning class
Lora - have a great walk and yeah for the loss (any amount is good)!
Janet - I bet if you ate pineapple it would do just as much good and there are no points for the fruit...just the juice...right?
Jana - I think for my challenge, I am going to try to exercise in some way 6 days a week. I SHOULD make it to track every single day, but I think I would fail within the first week. Some days I miss exercising because of the PT schedule, etc..but I think I can make sure to try to definitely get in 6 days a week.
Amanda - whoops I just saw that you suggested the same thing to Janet ..great minds think alike...right?
OFF to PT and errands...

Lora, hope that hike works out well, and you stay warm enough. It was 40 degrees here this morning when I walked my dog. My sciatica comes from my back problem, so totally different. The reason I do the dog walking is to get extra exercise in. Although I have to stop sometimes, I get some good walking in, and am out for 20 minutes in the morning, and closer to 1/2 hour in the afternoon, about 1.4 miles a day total for that. I really do want to do more, but I know, and have proven the past few weeks, that it is the tracking of food that really does it.
Janet, hope you feel better soon. 101 is a decently high fever for an adult. You can probably get something over the counter that would have whatever that pineapple has.
Amanda, I am not sure what cell carrier you have, but some of them will let you add international calling for 1 month only. I think the purpose of making people add for fruit in smoothies is because people get carried away, then complain they don't lose. They say they put a banana, strawberries, blueberries, apples, you name it, all in the same smoothie, and don't want to count it? What you used is very sensible.
I am going out for dinner tonight, and have been doing really well, so want to check the menu for the restaurant so I can plan in advance. I would like to fit in a glass of wine too.

If I can find a small pineapple already cut up maybe I will try as I am not coughing excessively. I woke up without a fever and I was debating about work but then my fever went up so decided against it. They will just have to get one of the temps to help my extended care partnèr. It's not worth going in and getting sicker. I learned that when I got shingles before and I don't want a repeat of that. I had gone into work when I was pretty sick. When I go to Europe I am not sure if I can use my current phone there since I have to call them up and ask about that. I can get wifi but I am not sure about whether I can charge it although I think I can get those international plugs adapters I think. I will also have to look into where to board Jasmine if she is still here. I hate to leave her and it will depend on how well she is doing as it gets closer to the trip. I am just afraid that she won't eat when I am away that long. I want to call my vet and see if they board but I don't think they do. Once when I had my other cat I was going to have someone come to my house to take care of her but then she died unexpectedly before the trip so I didnt. I am kind of leery about doing it now because there is information they can access and that scares me so don't think that is an option I am considering.

DD and I had a very enjoyable hike. We got in an 72 minutes, and 3.75 miles. It was really windy and quite cold. 37 degrees with a wind chill of 31. Brrrrr! The only thing that really got cold was my face, if the wind hadn't been blowing I think I would have not even had that. We would have gone further by my sciatic started making itself known, so we called it quits. We stopped for breakfast before a quick stop at the grocery store and then home. I need to go track breakfast. Then I think I'm going to take a hot shower and at some point, it might be a nap day BBL

Made a few stops, picked up the medicine. I am still running a fever. I may have to switch to Tylenol when it's time to take more. If I still have a fever tommorow I may call my doctor. Usually ibuprofen helps. I had a bit of lunch and I think I May going to lie down for a bit.

Robin - you have done great with counting the points. I really need to get back to seriously counting (that will also help me to stop the night eating).
Janet - sure hope you feel better soon
Lora - yeah for the walk... I am going to try to head upstairs for some reading, and hopefully join you in that nap.

Well, I stretched out and thought I'd drop off to sleep in no time, but every time I got close, the pup decided to start squirming or barking at a squirrel on the deck of something, so I never did get my nap. I'm almost to 10k steps, less than 800 more to get there, so I think I might be able to hit that mark today. I just took a naproxem and hope it kicks in. My sciatic is pretty uncomfortable right now. But I'm not going to let it slow me down, just trying to work through the pain.
Janet - I hope your medicine is helping and that you're feeling better.
Susie - hope you got your nap in.
Robin - I didn't realize you had lost that much since recommitting to tracking. That's fantastic. Congrats!
