Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Meeting this morning but not getting on the scales. But I figure at least I'm going to the meeting. Really need to start focusing on me again as nothing I can do for Debbie and Maija except give love and support.
Funny Bridgette story. Her and Bailey were in the backyard with Fred and he came running in saying you need to come out right now as Bridgette has hurt her paw and can't walk! So I go out and sure enough if she tried standing her left paw was held in the air and if she tried to walk she would fall. I was really scared for her and went right to her to pick her up. She looked up at me and then at her paw and her nail had gotten stuck in the part of the collar where her tags are! So got the nail out and she ran for the gate!
Sharon that was a beautiful picture of you and your daughter! How were you able to post it?

Cute story about Bridgette, Sandy. I'm glad she is O.K>
Yay, Jane, No SURGERY!!!!!! You sound like you are making real progress with your mobility issues.
Sharon: I love that picture of you and your daughter. She is beautiful....and she looks so much like
Great doctor's appointment. My blood work was great and I was down 5 pounds from last year. He gave me good ideas about my leg issues. I now own a foam roller to used to losen the tightness in the muscle that is giving me problems. Oldest DD is going to give me a Facetime demonstration on how to use it. She helped me sort through the choices over the phone while I was shopping. My blood pressure was a little high but neither of us is worried. Slow Walker (who is also his patient) will help me check it each week to track it and then I'll go back to the dr. to have it checked again in 6 months. He said I have beautiful skin and asked about my moisturizing regimine....I told him "digging in the dirt!" I also said I am Lebanese and it's all the olive oil I've had in my life! So all is well and my back and leg are so much better. I'm going to walk with Slow Walker today.
DH and I went out for Asian food last night, Bamboo Restaurant in Gail's town. I LOVE their barbequed spare ribs. They are lean and not covered with sugar and sauces. We had some sushi, too. It was a nice meal.
Good day to all,
Ann

Good Morning!
Just a quick hello! My computer is giving me issues again.
Ann, I have a foam roller but it is too stiff and I am not adept at using it but do use it if I am having tightness and it helps. What type did your DD suggest? I also have a mega large and soft swim noodle float that is much like the size and firmness of the foam rollers they have at the gym that I bought at Sam's that works a bit better.
My favorite yoga instructor is on vacation for 3 weeks but I still plan to go to yoga and the farmer's market, so I had better get moving. BBL

Ann, 5 lbs this year! Yay for you. All sounds good health wise for you.
We were up late with the DK listening about their evening. Now we’ve all gotten up late and scurrying to go to the park.
Have a good day all.

Good morning!
Sandy, what a cute story! Our pets sure give up lots of love and laughs don't they?
Sharon, that's a wonderful picture of you and your daughter. Congrats to her on the weight loss too!
Ann, you sure had a good doctor's appointment. I hope the foam roller helps your leg.
Ruth, enjoy your busy day.
Not much is going on here today. I have a busy week ahead of me so I'll stay home and do some chores around the house. My DD/family leave on vacation tomorrow and we're going over to their house every day to take care of their cat. It would have been nice if we could have brought him here but I didn't feel like breaking up cat fights between our cat and theirs. Both are very territorial and used to being the only cat in the house. It's simpler to just go their every day and make sure he has food and water and check his litter box. They live about 15 minutes from here.
We have some beautiful sunshine this morning and much cooler temps will be moving in tomorrow and will be here through the first part of the week. I'm hoping to be able to shut the AC off and open the windows at least for a day or two.

Good morning. Sandy thanks for the start. collars and tags can get caught on a lot of things like fences, etc. We always recommend that you leave the collar attached to the leash and on the dog. Glad you were able to remove her nail without injuring it.
Ann glad you had a good doctor report.
Vicki we are expecting weather in the 80's with lower humidity this week. I guess we are sharing the same system. I look forward to it.
Sharon enjoy the park with your family.
Ruth enjoy the market.
I have a DF coming this morning to bring her dog for me to babysit while they go to Disney World. It will take a little adjustment with mama Yorkie, but it should work out. Another friend came over yesterday to visit the pups and brought them a toy. They just started playing with stuffed animals and are so cute to watch. I can hardly believe they will be leaving soon. I will miss them, but it will be nice to get my dining room back.
Sewing projects are coming in like gang busters. I am turning dresses that have gotten too short into rompers for a friend of a friend. Lots of bags to make for the rescue and I have a lot of alterations for the owner. She is tiny and everything has to be hemmed or waist taken in. We are also turning some old party dresses into fun shirts. I really have to dedicate at least an hour a day to sewing. Also got fabric to make more doggie bed slip covers for the rescue. I guess I should get to work!

Greetings:
Oh, drat. I started my post then left to check something and when I came back, it was gone!
Well, QOTD while I think of what I said.
QOTD: What are you going to do, or have you already done today for exercise?
AOTD: I went for a walk. It's going to be warm here today, but I have decided that I'm not getting enough walking in. So, I'm going to walk 30 minutes on non-workout days. I don't know about how limited walking works for you, but my legs seem to feel heavier. I noticed it yesterday. We'd walked around a lot and I noticed that they felt heavy. So, I need to walk more. Simple, basic walking.

Sharon, what a lovely picture of you with your daughter. So great that she's taking control of her weight while young. It's such a challenge as we get older!
Your cucumber recipe ... that's my DGM's recipe except she always put in sweet onions. Thin sliced. DH really likes it about as much as he likes deviled eggs. I haven't made it for months. I grew up making it out of the garden. And, for a different taste now and then, put in a tablespoon of pickling spices.
I hope to have a recipe for you for next Friday. I have the ingredients, but haven't made it yet. Our guests raved about a chilled avocado and cucumber soup they had at one of their dinners. It just really sounded good so I bought the ingredients for one yesterday. DH doesn't like chilled soups so I don't know what he'll think. There are several recipes out there, but since I'm dairy averse I'm going to do a non-dairy one.
We bought a watermelon which we'll have for desserts for the upcoming week. Then a couple of cantaloupe. the one I cut was not at all ready. The other will sit on the counter for awhile.
This morning I went out and weeded our back yard. Some big weeds and then in 10 minutes I was done. We are talking about plants. Roses particularly. Not sure about it.
Toight we'll babysit. There is an end of school year event for parents. I think the PTO wants to fill the coffers and hit the ground running next year. They do a lot of fundraising but seem to have fun doing it.
I bought the DGS's an end of school year gift. They both wanted a transformer. I took them over yesterday and away they went. Little fingers are so agile.
Well, paperwork looms. I'm not going to zumba since I went for my walk. I'd like to work it up to 45 minutes each day.
This morning it was warm in the house when I got up so I oopened the windows and back door. Then I realized the heat had kicked on! time to adjust the temp settings!
Have a good day all.

AOTD: I went to yoga class. It was a good class. It is very hot right now. 90 with real feel temps of 98. I plan to walk after the sun goes down and it cools off a bit.
Heading to my closet now to do some purging. This is a task that is long overdue.

Ruth: I got a smooth foam roller. There were several that had big bumpy patterns and heavy inserts. DD told me NOT to get one of those. I believe the brand is Filio. I have not face timed with her about how to use it. I tried it the way myDr. showed me how to use it. He said it would hurt if I did it right and it did! I have also been purging more today. Started another new box for big brother big sister.
I have sorted through more magazines, emptied oldest DD's room of things that shouldn't be there and did some weeding. DH worked in the basement and tossed things from there, started organizing tools AND he FINALLY vacuumed the basement. He comes up through there all the time and drags the dirt with him. I have been nagging him for several weeks. He confessed that he had to empty the shop vac TWICE!!!!! What is it with men and cleanliness?!!!
We are having grilled salmon and roasted asparagus for dinner....yum!
Enjoy your solo time, Ruth! I need to squeeze in a Dr. Foster, although I will be in Maine solo after Wednesday..
Good evening to all,
Ann

AOTD: I walked some at the park, but not enough. I’m done with exercise today as I’m pooped. The park was partially flooded from all the rain so we were disappoint the canopy walk was closed. The boat ride was nice though. With more rain, the park will close which is not unusual in the summer.
DD had Don grill pineapple spears marinated in honey and cinnamon which was yummy.
I’ve read your posts and enjoyed them but I’m too tired to respond.

Put a big dent in my closet purging. I got some new clothes for my birthday so it was time to rethink my wardrobe. I have 2 large bags for Goodwill. I have been retired for 4 years and had a few nice pants suits that it was time to let go of. I also got rid of some wintry things that just do not fit comfortably. Some, too long in the sleeves or too tight across the bust. I have a big walk in closet and am only 2/3 done but done for today. I also have shoes that need to be gotten rid of. I may go through some magazines while watching TV tonight.
Ann, I finished Season 1 of Doctor Foster. It is really good!

All great news, Ann. I haven't been to Baboo in a while. Good place.
AOTD: My exercise today was walking I set my step goal at 7000 and almost always make or exceed it. Not as much activity as I would like, but better than nothing. And I have found that walking does make a difference.
Work tomorrow so time for bed.
See you all tomorrow.
