Good Morning Marm and LTMs,
To answer today’s question, no, I don’t hear church bells. We are outside of town and all is quiet here.
We had a low of 62º and partly cloudy and going up to 79º and partly cloudy and windy with winds NW 20-30 mph.
Yesterday we spent a lot of time sorting and tossing things because we will have to move out within a few days. I’m getting rid of a lot of old clothes that we brought from Mississippi and have never worn since we’ve been here.
We continued our game of Monopoly last night and we’ve been playing for about an hour every evening. I think this is a stress reliever for us. This was our third night playing this game.
Maxine Calendar: Saturday and Sunday 6/2-3: Croutons, bacon, pudding, cheese. My work here is done.
Peanuts Calendar: Saturday and Sunday 6/2-3: THE DAILY EXTRA: When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, “No, I went to films.” – Quentin Taratino.
The following letters were sent from Japan about 3 years after we first arrived there in 1954. This one was a newsletter written by DH Bill 12/30/1957. (continued from yesterday). Doris wants to add a note, so I’ll close for now. Bill. Since moving back to Tokyo in September we have no maid and I’ve been finding how time consuming it is to be a housewife in Japan. Shopping also requires much time – there are no supermarkets and so even daily shopping takes me to three or more different shops. At our local shops the usual wrapping is newspaper made into small bags – meat is wrapped in large bamboo leaves. Two afternoons a week I study Japanese. Once a week I help a University student (the daughter of one of the Church officials) with her English conversation. Her English is excellent, and the hour goes by all too quickly. When time permits I go along with Bill to the Preaching Places and Bible classes he has already mentioned. Doris. We are still learning the game of golf and get out to the local course in Tokyo every chance we get. Once a month is not too often, but we appreciate the occasional nights when I am home. We keep talking about going to some of the famous spots around Tokyo which every tourist without fail goes to see. We may get to see some of these beauty spots in the year before we come home. As you note – the thought of furlough is quite evident. At this point we are quite conscious that in one year and six months we’ll be heading East to home. We think of your often and pray for the work you are each doing in Christ’s name. Sincerely, Bill and Doris. To be continued tomorrow . . .
Silvery Moon Doris

New Med alert has a nicer neck cord. This one has a gadget to shorten it. The other one I had to sew the tape up to shorten it. I am eating my breakfast of a hard boiled egg with out shells... It is made with the egglettes. I like it.
Sorry I can't stay and visit. I need to take snacks to the church for a memorial service. Hope to be back later.

Busy morning at work like Sat. mornings always are. Our TM(territory manager) was there to observe the meeting and meet with us afterwards so I was later getting home. Just had breakfast and taking a quick break now before walking. Rained earlier this morning. Sun is out now but it's only 63º and windy so it feels cold. What a change in the weather from yesterday when it was in the 90's and humid. 70's today and tomorrow before it gets hot and humid again.
Marm, glad to "see" you back. That power outage also affected our computers at work. Shut them all down but luckily they came right back up after powering them up again. We weren't affected here.

Hello, all LTMs,
We have a beautiful, if hot, sunny day! We haven't rally had many of those the last 2 weeks. Yesterday's storm was a surprise, but today looks like it will be better.
I went to Home Depot this morning, got potting soil mix, and lots of herb plants. I bought parsley, sweet basil. purple basil, lemon thyme, oregano, and a few others. I also got 2 kinds of coleus to put in a big pot that is out front. My caladium are all growing great right now. My trimmer for the palm trees couldn't come today, since the recycling plant is closed today and he can't get his trailer emptied. He'll come on Tuesday morning.
We have 4 P.M. Mass today, so I'll do my planting tomorrow. I have been in the pool & it is perfect! Really enjoyed doing my exercises there.
Hoping everyone has a great day!
Rose Marie

Marm, it's good to see you back. I hate computer issues. My phone and internet are thru the cable company and I'm having trouble with the phone so have to have them come out because they said on the phone that it's the modem which was replaced not long ago. I also have a problem with my power cord for my laptop or it could be the laptip itself... power cord doesn't always work to charge so had to call tv place which the insurance with them covers my computers too, do the usual being transferred from robot voice to 3 humans who all asked me the same questions and put in a claim for a new cord. Got cut off because of the phone issue so I called back today and supposedly the claim was put thru so we'll see what happens. When I called back today I was on hold for at least 15 minutes...didn't start tracking the time right away. At least I had to talk to only one person.I also had a question about my bill which supposedly is taken care of but not sure of that either.
Mary, I know you have short legs too so you may have hte same problem with chairs. I have very short legs and short thighs. So when I sit in a stuffed chair or on a couch my behind doesn't fit all the way to the back as the couches and chairs are always too wide from back to from and if I "scooch" back to where I don't have to lean back I have to sit like a little kid with legs sticking out and dangling off the floor.
It's nice weather here today..not too warm but all week is to be hot. Luckily it's a dry heat.

I ate at church for lunch and then went to get my car washed so it is all clean. Hope I don't get dust and water spots on it again. I came home then, turned on the cooler and laid down for a nap. Now have been up packing and I think I am about done.
Tomorrow I will go to church, come home for short time and the back for a meeting and evening church. I did not get out for a walk today, so guess I will ride my stationary bike. That should account for something.

I’m home from the birthday party. It was a fun time for all of us. Rain was strongly predicted, but we had none there. They bought 2 canopies just for it, so were well prepared. The kids all had a great time on the inflatable things, even some of the brave adults, but not me!
Ruth, yes I have the problem that you described above. The stuffed chairs that dd had at her shop were low to the floor so that my feet did reach the floor. They were cheapies from Ikea, but very comfortable. However most chairs and couches are not!

I've had a full day.
Did some watering & weeding again this morning. We were to get a substantial amount of rain tonight so only watered minimally. Now it looks like most of the rain will miss us so tomorrow I will have to give everything a good drink.
Did some cleaning too. I have neglected the inside work with all my gardening. Then we had to make a run to town after lunch. Something has been eating my lilies - the leaves & stem. So we bought more chicken wire & put it around them. Tomorrow morning will tell whether it works. Hope so cause they all have buds now. DH though maybe deer were the culprits but there's no tracks.
DD came this afternoon & stayed through supper. Her DH was in Canada fishing this past week & called that he was coming home tonight. She decided not to stay overnight with us. She'll be coming quite often in June. Before she left we went for a walk but after all my walking today it was a little more then I should have done. I'll do my exercises before bed & be fine.
Nothing planned for tomorrow - except watering & probably some more weeding. Marm warned me about how much work gardening is but it gives me something to do besides sitting around.....& getting fat, wink.
Sleep tight...

Doris, Yes I would think playing games would be relaxing to and laughs w/it. which right need that for sure. That's what I should do w/many of my clothes. And instead of altering many of them.
Bipp,Way to w/new med alert. And adjustable at that. Enjoy those eggs.
Gareth*, You know the first things always is ask w/the enternet to? so when I call I let them know I did all above already. To think I used to try to figure things pot for hrs. before called.did get smarter, I do it right away now. Would have been a mess at work if it didn't come back on for you.
Rose Marie*, I would enjoy a pool but not the taking care of it. I'm sure that trailer is filled to the top from trimming the Palm Trees.
Ruth, When we buy furniture I ask for the short stature, altho never comcidered myself shot till I shrunk. But big furniture scoot back on kills my to do that and sitting worsens it yet. What a time youv'e had w/tech things to. My modem wasn't that old either. Now w/problem getting this one started wondering how long it will last?
Mary, Always fun w/the little ones and big ones that's so brave. Ha,ha.
Marlene*, wish you was close I have like hardware wire just took down and could have. DH is going to toss. Yes think your gardening is good for you. But w/all my gardens and cleaning is getting to me now.
Well this wasn't a good day. Just not feeling good. Weak a tired to. took a loong nap. And wouldn't ya know thee perfect day for working in the gardens w/cool a breeze to. We did go get some Groc., and ect. I got my walk in to. Sleep well Friends..
Marm~~~~~~
