Welcome to our 2018 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 15 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the four week challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Hapiness?
June 22 - June 28: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
June 29 - July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths!
Kick the tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

Yay for the weekend!
When I showed up at the license branch, the line stretched around the building. Since I had an appointment, I was able to go to the front of the line, thank goodness. It's good to have that task taken care of.
I had an unplanned chat with the boss yesterday. I told her that I have been struggling since vacation, am ready to retire, but will work two more years until I am eligible for Medicare. Sounds like she is in a similar situation- working long hours and sleeping away the weekends.
My eating was okay until the afternoon and dinner- too many snacks, topped off by an Outback burger. Did get over 100K steps for the week though.

GG- Good luck with the sleep study. Enjoy DS and family today. The boss was never a fan of working from home, so I let it go.
Cindy- Congrats on the GSW win! How long is BIL staying?

Glad to have stayed the same, all the hiking, certainly not the eating. Really thinking about the meeting topic....setting your summer goals. I usually hate to put a number but would like to work towards losing 10# by the end of August. That's about a pound a week and gives me some room for celebrations etc. Today will be tracking, water and working towards a blue dot. Bought some Cod, have green beans and maybe whatever we find down at the Farmer's Market. Hope you all have a great day planned!! Jan
Murphy SO glad you checked in, as long as you keep coming back, no judgement here. We all love you and are rooting for you. Good luck at your meeting. Hugs.
Amy SOrry your work from home didn't work out, glad you can at least see a "finish" line for work. Hang in there!!
Carole Congrats on your long ride!! How many weeks until the actual Iowa ride?
Cindy Does DBIL leave today? Yay for getting in more flowers. We're glad Golden State won, I didn't even watch the game though. Was tired last night after returning from our trip. Have a great Saturday!!
GG Good luck with the kids and the dog farewell. No emotional eating, glad you got some alone house time!!!
Hi to all.

Hi girls. DD came down with the baby today. She is so sweet!! I've missed her! There was a change of plans for the dog farewell. It will be another day. I'm glad I'm going to the doctor. Trying to clean and even to just play with the baby hurts.
Amy: The light at the end of the tunnel!
Murphy: No slinking!! We are glad you are back! How was the meeting?
Jan: Glad you enjoyed your meeting and yay for staying the same!
Carole: Yes, both ddil and dsil are teachers.
Cindy: No, my sil was excited. She was the one that turned their world upside down. She found out she was adopted and started looking.

Went to my first AA meeting in a long time. Of course they were accepting and so supportive. Picked up my white chip and carried it with me afterward to the grocery store so it would be a reminder NOT to walk down the wine aisle! I'm going to go back tomorrow evening for another meeting. There was a woman there for her first ever AA meeting and the poor thing cried for the whole meeting. Everyone was so good to her. It wasn't a very big meeting - maybe 17 people. It was great! Not exactly "easy" but definitely where I needed to be. I also got a list of other female members so I will have some people to call if I need more support. I also found a AA group on Facebook that is very active so I can get some good support there. Although there is this one lady who asked to privately message me because she has also had weight loss surgery. Problem is that she is still drinking. She asked for my number so we could talk but I said no. I'm too new to this and she obviously needs more intense support. I encouraged her to call the AA hotline and talk with someone who has more sobriety under their belt. I'm going back to the AA meeting tomorrow night. Thank you all AGAIN for loving me and encouraging me! Murphy

Hi All!
First, Murphy! I am so happy that you went to the meeting and that you were strong and encouraged the woman to go the the hotline. Never easy to say no but please put yourself first and know that you have all of our love, support, care, and encouragement!! Hugs!
Amy, It shouldn't have surprised me but did that you were thinking of Texas in two years. I am assuming Austin area but there are beach areas. I am excited for you! Would DD move with you? DH loved his last job because he loved mentoring but when it is the constant push, it cannot be fun!
GG, I am glad SIL was happy with the results....I guess I am just too private of a person or paranoid....or watched too many Law and Orders! We have no proof the half sister from the one night stand is truly related and I really don't know how it works. I am so glad you are going to the doctor and getting the aches and pains discussed!
Jan, Sounds like you are fitting in with your new "town"...farmers markets are a big tell! I am joining you in losing ten by August.
Carole, I was exhausted by your day! Your sugar rush made me laugh, sorry, but better than A!
DBIL just stayed for the night. He is doing the next five hundred miles, visit some of his friends, then another five hundred to his sister and BIL. He did talk but was quiet during the game. His BIL paid him 5K for a months work. He wanted to take DS and I out to dinner but we wanted to watch the game....just made up sandwiches and snacks. He will be with his BIL and sister for 4 to 6 weeks, then plans to stop back by on his way home. I did challenge him on "memories" but left it with that is your version not my DH and my version. He left early this morning.
I think I have posted this more than once...."I've reached that age where my brain went from 'You probably shouldn't' say that' ...to....What the hell, let's see what happens." Kinda my approach to BIL.
Fell yesterday morning at about 7 AM in the garage....went to get stuff near the garage door and there is a lip at the edge of floor and door, foot, went off edge, twisted, I fell. Umm, bruise on face, bruise on ankle, hands ache and right hand is swollen...not like LEBRON's hand....but it is weird looking.....knee with fractured knee cap looks ugly, other knee not so bad. Right hand has a weird sunken part between "swollen" veins with a nodule....otherwise just achy.....gotta stop this. Keep having to make corrections due to a bandage on thumb....unrelated.
Eating too sugar, gotta get thru it.....
Hugs to all, Cindy
