Happy Saturday! What is everyone doing this weekend?
We were supposed to go on a wine tasting outing but had to cancel. I felt like a UTI coming on so I was taking cranberry capsules and drinking gallons of water. I feel OK today but wanted another day to make sure. I couldn't spend a hour on a bus. So we started the day walking the street flee markets and I bought a new pair of cute sandals. New shoes always makes a day good. We might go out to a movie and dinner since we didn't get to yesterday.

Good morning.
The Charleston trip was good, but the conference itself left something to be desired. They all have that non-profit mindset where they prefer to determine root causes rather than solve problems. Ugh.
Did a fun little pub crawl on Wednesday night where I got to try a specialty drink called the Bee's Knees at a bar called Prohibition. My Uber driver practically insisted that I go there and have that. Gin, peach schnapps, lemon juice and honey. Very tasty and one of those drink you could get in real trouble with if you'd made a pitcher of it.
Hopefully, the transient UTI has moved along, Debbie.
Congratulations on the 10 pounds, Lori! And, because of the mixup, everybody gets 10 virtual pounds as credit!
We're off to the farmers market in a bit. Mid to upper 90's all weekend, so I expect to be homebodies most of the time. Particularly since there's soccer going on and Brazil plays tomorrow.

Hi, Louis - the Bee's Knee's looked so good. That was great luck getting that Uber driver. Your trip looked like such fun. Is the Farmers market in India? Go Brazil! Thank you. Cranberry capsules and gallons of water has done the trick. Debbie

Hi,
Thanks for starting us, Debbie. New shoes (or sandals!) make you feel good! Great news that you were able to get the UTI to go away. Did you get your pretty bike back? Hooray for A/C that works properly.
Welcome back, Lou. RCA (root cause analysis) is a big thing in my line of work. To its credit, it can assist with preventing future problems. But it may have more of a valid place in our industry vs yours. Enjoy the indoors this weekend, the heat indices here are to be pretty rough.
Vicki, what's the verdict on the pool repair? Is it all good now? I started my WW journey with at work meetings but once they went away I started attending meetings at our local WW center.
Lori, congrats on the scale # going down, you are working it for sure. The littles are good. Hopefully we can FaceTime this weekend with them.
Waving hi backatcha, Brenda.
MIA since Thursday due to my dr appt in the am and major happenings later that day. My thumb issue has been diagnosed as tendinitis, confirmed by x-rays. I am wearing a spica splint and taking an anti-inflammatory med. I'm in hopes that this resolves soon. Additionally, we had a RIF on Thursday. Unfortunately I lost a really good analyst from my team and we also lost a very knowledgeable director who worked in our building. I have worked with both of them for many years, ever since they started with the company. This has hit hard. The decisions were made from above so little is known about what factors were considered. Some areas were hit, some were hard hit and some spared. I am still processing the news, as are so many.
Today I slept in and did WATP + band w/o. Otherwise I have been moving slowly. I have plenty to do and little motivation to get it accomplished ATM.
Take care, Ginia

Happy Sunday, Virginia - I hope your thumb heals quickly. What is RIF? I hope you get to FaceTime with the little ones today. Sorry you lost good people.
Today is a lazy day . We did go for a walk after breakfast but need more steps still. We walked through one of the two remaining original city gates and it was opened to go to the top. It has always been closed so far. Amazing views and got to walk stairs. The sheets are hanging and some cleaning done. Waving hi to everyone and hope you have a wonderful day. Debbie

Hello, Happy Sunday and happy Father's Day to all the fathers in our lives. Debbie, RIF = reduction in force. Positions were eliminated. I wonder if there was some special reason that the gate was open today? Nice that you had the experience of going through it and seeing the views. I did WATP first thing. My intention was to walk outdoors this morning and I guess I wimped out. I just did not feel like going out solo in the heat. BWF has to work this weekend. I want and need to get outdoors more. Once the HM training group with the Y gets started it will be better. Right now they are doing a preliminary training regimen and I think they did 2 miles yesterday. For me to drive nearly 20 miles one way to go out for 2 miles isn't really worth it. Now, if I were a newbie or just starting back after a significant hiatus, it would be a different story. It's a wonderful program for people to build endurance and confidence. I need to get myself going and work on doing something to boost my spirits. I'm definitely still a bit down in the dumps since the RIF event on Thursday. Waving hi to Brenda, Lou, Vicki and Lori, hope you are all well. Take care, Ginia

Hi, Virginia - I am with you in not wanting to go out in not weather. Thanks, is it because of all the new people that came in? I hope you found a shining light to spark your day. I think it might just be that today wasn't a holiday for a change. In Europe most of the museums are opened with free entry which is really nice. Debbie

Sorry that you guys had to go through a RIF process, Virginia. Any idea how big it was overall? I'm, unfortunately, kind of an expert on them. The company I worked for started with over 300 employees when I got there and we bottomed out at a little under half that number before rebuilding it.
Get out there and clear your head a bit if you can.
I'll be holed up in the house today. It's going up to the upper 90's with a heat index of 105. And Brazil is playing in less than an hour, so short of a house fire, I don't see Cecilia leaving the couch.

Hi,
Debbie, wait, what? No holiday today? Wow. The RIF was unrelated to the new people moving into the building. They work for our company but most of them are in two different divisions. Only our division was affected as best I know, some departments more than others.
Lou, the RIF numbers haven't been released. I know that some areas were not touched, others were affected and yet others very hard hit. During two conference calls on Friday, many people repeatedly asked for numbers and those were 100% not provided. Rumors will abound, I'm sure. Good advice for me to get out, I may do so later. It's way too hot and muggy now. I think I will go out in a bit to Starbucks and to hang with DS awhile. Probably good to do that rather than stay at home all day.
Take care, Ginia
