GOOD MORNING and here we are in July. Sun is shining and another lovely summer day. Good day for the pool, the beach, the AC. Imagine 4th of July plans are being made and it is always strange when the 4th is in middle of the week. Our town activities are this coming weekend. Going to be a busy weekend. Did see a lot of campers and boats rolling in to our campgrounds and summer cottages. With so much rain lot of them were just waiting for some weather to show up.
Thanks to Cat for keeping track of the name for July and also for all our Ice Cream names. Good job as always. Cat you made June very fun and we all do appreciate your time and energy. July will probably be summer for all of us now. sure hope so. We are not sure of any plans for the 4th of July and I won’t ask, just wait to see what the family comes up with. May not be anything as that happens as well.
Did you ever just have a sundae party or maybe a banana split party? I remember a couple, my Mom and Dad loved ice cream and every so often we would have one or the other. Plus if my Mom and Dad had a major argument, my Dad would storm out, but us kids were always anticipating him coming back. Cause he usually returned with ice cream, Hershey’s chocolate syrup and Mexican peanuts, the little round ones with the skins on and salted. His apology but it was because he didn’t like to argue with my Mom. She kind of ruled the roost most times. We didn’t have ice cream a lot and It was a special treat. My brother and I both remember those apologies. More on the parties tomorrow.

Connie, thanks for the start. It is definitely summer here.At least I saw no heat advisory on the weather site this morning so I guess we are a little better than the last few days.
Yes, when I was a kid we would have ice cream parties at my paternal grandparents. Grandpa's birthday was in August so for it his kids got together. That was a treat because by the time I was 6 one of Dad's sisters had already moved down on the coast. In those days it was a BIG deal to make a trip from there to North Central TX. So they would come for a week or so and I would get to see my cuz my age. The family was large. 10 kids. So they would divide up and Janie would spend a lot of time at my house as well as those the ages of my siblings.
Anyway, the old crank ice cream freezer was in use for the evening of the great birthday celebration. More later.
Church today, lunch with friends, and still not sure if Trace will be here this afternoon, tomorrow, or not at all.
Coffee, coffee. Have a great first of July. Old Crank Freezer Lucy

Good morning!
Thanks, Connie! I remember family ice cream par ties and church ice cream socials. Both involved the old crank freezers. Girls got to sit on the padding on top and boys turned he crank. When it got too hard to turn, the men would take over and turn it some more. We were all ready to enjoy fresh peach ice cream and vanilla with chocolate sauce.
Today we woke up to a thunderstorm, but nothing major. We got a little rain and that always helps. We'll leave in a few minutes for church (we go to the first service) and then we'll go on to breakfast. Our DGD sometimes comes with us to breakfast, and that is always good. We'll come home and just laze the rest of the day. Typical Sunday around here.
Hoping each of you has the day you'd like.
Diane

Good Morning Connie and Ice Creams,
This morning we had a low of 71º and going up to 92º and mostly cloudy with winds light and variable. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible.
Connie, thanks for starting the Ice Cream thread for July.
This morning we’ll go to church and then maybe go out to lunch somewhere or we may decide to just come back home.
Thanks to all of you on the June Tunes thread for the wonderful brunch you gave for me and my family. We all enjoyed it.
Yesterday our landlady and a man worked on redoing our walk up to the house. It is wooden and was rotting. They removed all the old wood and put in a new walk that looks much safer to walk on.
We still need to do changes of address and set up a bank account here, so we aren’t doing everything long distance. Maybe we can get that done Monday.
Ken wasn’t feeling well yesterday so we didn’t go out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We’ll check after church and see if he is up to doing anything today. They may want to wait until Jason is back from the wedding he attended this weekend and that would be OK with us.

Thanks for the start, Connie.
I am moving slow. Back later. It was a grand time yesterday.
I had parties done by Grandmother. They stopped at age ten, I think. Grandmother did a lot for me.
So glad to see Doris again.

Good morning!
First, I just want to tell Cat how much I enjoyed the QOTD that she provided each weekday morning in June. Thanks, Cat, for being so faithful and so much fun!
Connie, thank you for volunteering for July! I always look forward to reading your posts -- seeing what decorations you are putting up at your house, how you are moving furniture, and if you are floating in that swimming pool!
Doris, is Jason a grandson? So glad the landlords are getting the place spiffy for you and your family.
Diane, the rain you sent is going over us now. It has dissipated to the point that it's mostly cloud cover. I don't think we are going to get any moisture, but it will "only" be in the low 90s today, so that's good.
I, too, remember having homemade ice cream from a freezer just like the one in the picture above. The men were in charge of cranking it -- my father, grandfather and uncles all sitting around smoking and taking turns cranking. All but one uncle have passed on. The ice cream was much like what we call custard now. Grandma and Grandpa had lots of eggs and cream. Yum!
Our church is having a special patriotic service today rather than the regular Sunday School and worship. I'm looking forward to seeing what the musicians and ministers have planned for us.
BBL to see what's happening in your neck of the woods! --Molly

Molly,
Jason is DDIL's son by her first marriage, but like a grandson to me. He is always willing to help someone in difficulties.

Went to church and then was able to get Bailey a grooming appointment as she really needed it but they were all booked until the middle of July and last night they called to say they had a 9 a.m. cancellation so I took it! Bailey was so funny when we dropped her off as there was a Great Pyrenees/Australian mix ahead of her and she hid behind Fred. This other dog was so friendly and when it saw Bailey she's so little it didn't know if he needed to herd her or if she was a critter he needed to get rid of! Then as Bailey was backing up the door opened and in came a very active golden doodle pup and so she was caught in the middle and starting to panic but then here came her groomer and she said hey little momma looks like I need to rescue you! Bailey practically raced to her as though saying yes you are my friend get me out of here!
We had planned on getting a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit at Hardee's and I saw it was 19 points so started to rethink it and since we were going to stop at the grocery store for a few things I thought I could buy a box of Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches as that bacon/egg/cheese biscuit would be less points. Well this store didn't carry any Jimmy Dean at all! So came home and fixed eggs instead. So went from what could have been 19 points to zero points!

I did invite CAT to post her QOTD during July if she feels up to it and wants to. Even now and then is good, CAT.
My DGD and her hubby are going to stop today for the bread that I got for them from Schwans. Multi grain loaves for her and cheesy Bread for him. also have some freezer jam for them. They are going to his sister's pool and she lives in my area. Got pictures from my DGS from the Casino in Pittsburgh by the rivers. They have had a gift certificate from his Sister for couple years now to stay in hotel there and have dinner someplace. So glad they finally got to use it. With his swing shifts at work and she was changing jobs, moving into a cute rental house this is the first they have had to use the gift. Looked like they were having fun.
Ice cream socials are still going on here especially during strawberry season and also we have the county dairy one that is old fashioned ice cream. Our family has a ice cream maker and it is not the old fashioned one but electric but it is still fun to do now and then. Believe it or not it makes ice cream faster in winter!! This hot weather takes a lot longer and lot more salt in the freezer, ( not in the ice cream) Our favorite is actually the vanilla and then later the peach ice cream when our local peaches are ready..YUM
My 4th of July decorations are up. A small metal can with rope handles holds artificial red white and blue carnations and is centered in a ring that has white sprays that light up with batteries not solar. It is on front porch white table. I have a family dressed in old fashioned garb playing instruments on the kitchen table on a red white and blue place mat. My large American flag flying on the pole on back porch. One citronella candle out on back porch in a red white and blue glass container. I am patriot for another year!!
