I was up at 4 which is pretty early even for me. Maija was picked up by Sam at 5 to go to Galena, IL and then they'll be back tonight to see the fireworks. Debbie asked Fred and me if we'd go with her to watch the fireworks and that'll be the first time in many years we will be doing that. Both Debbie and Fred know a perfect spot to go and avoid all the downtown traffic when they're over.
I am really shocked at how things are starting to fall into place for Debbie. She saw that apartment complex online Sunday, got a keyless entry code Monday to go see them and Maija went with her, Tuesday contacted the manager and asked if they had any units that had vaulted ceilings and a fireplace as she had heard they did which meant they would be on the top floor, the manager took her application online, she was approved within a couple of hours and told yes they would have an apartment with a vaulted ceiling and fireplace available to move in August 11 which was also in one of their pet friendly buildings, it's not furnished which Debbie is fine with, requires a $500 deposit but since she works for the hospital the two weeks in August are rent free and her first rent payment is not due until September 1. Maija was very excited about it being in a pet friendly building talking about getting a puppy but Debbie told us being in an apartment would not be fair to a puppy especially with Debbie working and Maija working and having school plus swim team BUT she would be okay if she wanted to get a kitten as cats don't usually want to be outdoors. Plus yesterday afternoon she found out a director position is opening up at the hospital which is actually the position of the person who she reports to as that woman is going part-time because her husband is retiring and Debbie said she has been having Debbie doing a lot of her job lately so thinks she might have been grooming Debbie for the position so she will definitely be applying for it.
Then she put together a proposal to her attorney of an offer to Jeff that he keep the house and just give her half the value, he can have everything in the house including the dogs, she would pay him alimony of $1000 a month which would cover the cost of his MC bill and the house utilities but that would only be until he either finds a job or collects the money from the sale of the family farm. That sale alone nets him $90,000 and she actually thinks he's already received it and is trying to hide it but her attorney is contacting the bank officer handling the farm to see if he received the money as if he did and is hiding it then Debbie will rescind the $1,000 a month offer. He also will be coming into a 1/3 share of $2.3 million when his mother passes and she's already in her 90's but still if he received the $90,000 that is more than enough to support himself while looking for a job and she's pretty sure the judge would go along with that and if Jeff asks for more he would really look bad as Debbie is being very generous as Jeff has no debt except for the MC bill which is where he has been putting all his attorney fees and Debbie has been paying that bill.
We told her when she shops for furniture we would help pay for it and she said no, which we knew she would, and Fred said well I'm your Dad and I'm saying we really want to help you with this so then she said okay. So I just keep hoping and praying that everything goes smoothly and by October the divorce is final and Maija and her can move forward.

Good morning and Happy Fourth of July to you all.
I've been waking up early these past few days when I could be sleeping in but I have been sleeping pretty good. It's been so quiet with no kids that I've actually read two books on my kindle. They're fast moving books. Today I've got laundry on tap but nothing else, we normally go see the fireworks but with the kids away at Old Orchard Beach with their family I won't be going. I've done good OP and actually drank 2 bottles of water which is more than I have been doing. Two more days of Hot humid days and can't wait for a little relief.
Sandy...so glad that things are looking up for your DD and DGD.

Happy 4th friends. Sandy it does seem like Debbie has it together and will be ok. Good luck to her in applying for the job. God bless you and Fred.
Jane I looked up air scrubber. I can’t imagine your house is so dirty you would need one. You are such a tidy person and have cleaning people. If it is ionic, you should have it removed. The odor may not be good for you. I hope I don’t sound bossy, but I do care about you.
QOTD: Please share a memory of a special or interesting 4th of July past.
AOTD: When our DK were school age, our son was in scouts. We were good friends with three other scout families. Each 4th we took all our kids to Henry Illinois to see fireworks over the river. We sat on blankets on the riverbank. It was a fun time. The DK were all friends as well and still are to this day. I wonder how many of them have memories of it.
Be safe and have a good day.
Sharon

Good morning and Happy 4th of July!
I wasn't planning on leaving the house until it was time to go to DD's for supper later but now I think I might do a bit of shopping this afternoon. I just realized that the big 75% off sale ends at Bath and Body Works either today or tomorrow and I need to stock up on hand soaps and refills for my Wallflower. Of course they might not be open due to it being a holiday so I'll check before I leave the house.
Sandy, what a blessing that everything is finally falling into place for your daughter.
Joanne, we're getting a nice cool down starting on Friday. Saturday looks to be gorgeous with temps in the low 80s and very low humidity. We'll both be getting some much needed relief from this oppressive heat.
Sharon, that's a really good QOTD.
AOTD: I grew up in a very small town but they always had a big 4th of July celebration. It drew people from all over the area. We were fortunate because we lived very close to the school where the fireworks and the carnival was held. In fact, all we had to do was walk out of our back gate and we'd be on school property. We had front row seats for the fireworks! My dad always had a big cookout and invited family, friends and coworkers. It was always the highlight of my summer and one of my most cherished memories.

Greetings: Just saying hi.. On our way to breakfast in minutes. Then to the parade. That question about the parade? I didn't know we had a kids bike parade here. Not expecting anything, but hope to get there. Should be a mob scene.
Went to a new restaurant last night. Bar Louie. I don't know if it's a chain, but on Tuesdays, which we didn't know, they have $5 hamburgers. Since the hamburgers are $11 and $12 ish, that was quite a find.
Haven't read posts. Hope all who have posted are okay and others as well. Karen E. thinking of you and how your day will go. Make it just for you.

Bar Louie is a chain and went out of business here several years ago. We used to go for the $5 hamburger and it just got worse and worse to where we didn't care for it! But we have their t shirts which they gave us because we were there every week . So maybe yours will keep up the quality
Been to the pool and haven't had breakfast yet and it is after 11. I tried a new tea last night and I think I made 4 trips to the bathroom during the night so my sleep was really interrupted. I just took a new subscription to the Naples paper and it was to start today and no paper. I called about it and got no where with them. They told me to call again tomorrow. This is one reason we quit the paper before! I am not in a good mood already today!
So must ignore the little problems and get on with today!

Good Morning!
Just a quick hello to wish you all a Happy 4th of July!
I have been to the Wellness Center for yoga class. It was a great class! It is nice to take a class instead of always teaching it.
Mike is cleaning the lanai. His DD and DGD are coming from Orlando Saturday or Sunday. We will go to his DSon's later today.

i brought half my breakfast home and will finish it tomorrow. My friend brought a thermos of her gazpacho soup. So we'll have it sometime today. Maybe this evening. I put it in the fridge.
QOTD: Please share a memory of a special or interesting 4th of July past.
AOTD: My first flash was of not so great memories. But, there was an old bygone year when the boys were young and we had XH's nephew staying with us because he and his DF couldn't get along at all. They needed a break and he came to us for a place to stay for awhile. We went to the lake, they all water-skiied and he played with the boys. Burgers on the grill at home later and then boys up late to watch fireworks from our backyard. He was a nice young man and the boys liked having him there.

What a daughter you have, Sandy! So glad it is all working out. What is the MC bill Jeff is paying?
Joanne, kudos for being OP. The more water you drink, the better off you will be, especially in this weather.
AOTD: After I divorced my first husband, there was a family 4th at the high school in town. It was so much fun...square dancing, three-legged races, etc. For a newly single person, it was a good way to be with other families. When I was teaching in Boston, I used to go to a spot with friends where we had a great view of the Boston fireworks on the Esplanade. They do a terrific job. I love fireworks. Now I watch them on TV. Not at all the same thing, but fun to see what different cities do.
Thanks for the question, Sharon. Good to read others' responses.
Last night I met for dinner with a friend from work who has moved to FL and two other colleagues up here. I love my friend who is in FL. She lives in the Orlando area. It will be a trip to see her, but we are excited we will be in the same state again.
I have to get dressed. It is after 12, but I did not get up until almost 11!!! The first night I slept over 8 hours in ages. I have an ice cream social in an hour and a half. It is HOT, so a great day for ice cream.
Have a great one all.

Gail Jeff has a master card account that is in his name but Debbie used it as well until she left the house. She still pays it since he has no income but he has charged all his attorney fees to it so she is now paying all of that as well. But she figured out what it was until he started charging the attorney fees so has said what it should be and that is what she will cover but will not pay anymore of his attorney fees and I think the judge would go along with it but I don't think Jeff will. His sense of entitlement just blows my mind!

Happy Birthday America and 4th of July.
Karen thanks for thinking of me, my day has been very enjoyable. My avitar for today is a win. Nothing huge, only playing one quarter so yielded $30.00 but a win. I play very sparingly. That was before lunch. Got better after lunch. Gave hubby back his $50.00 and still had close to $175.00. Also Charlene treated me to lunch. Definitely not complaining. Hubby's day was good also, he was home before we got back. He said he won a little also.
Sandy good news on the new housing for daughter and granddaughter. The world doesn't wait on anyone, so glad they are slowly moving forward. Two wonderful ladies.
Joanne and Vicki enjoy the cool down while it lasts. We are back in the 90's with a 105 heat index today. Looking forward to the next cool down.
Sharon, sorry you have that allergy, but I commend you with your presistence in checking every ingredient. I assure you that I am not that ddicated. Proud of you.
Jane, what can I say, you are so kind hearted and dedicated to Mr. Don and your own issues and you always deal with things head on. Keep dancing and playing cards.
Ruth, enjoy your visiting family, and your evening.
Gail, I would say you needed the 8 hours sleep and lounge time this morning. Ice cream is good on a hot day or any other. But for me know it can't be an often thing. Enjoy.
AOTD: We have had so many fun and interesting 4th of July times. First of all it is DFiL's birthday. He has been gone since 1989. Charlene, (that I spent today with) and her family had a Fireworks stand since our kids were born. We spent many 4th's setting off boxes of fireworks with them with Kentucky Fried Chicken and potato salad. As our kids got older Steven's folks and our kids, their friends would have fireworks at our house and the kids would help with the smaller things like sparklers, snakes, etc. We have gathered in our boats on Lake Rathbun to watch displays. As Iowa did not legally sell fireworks we would always go to Missouri to purchase them. Haven't done anything the past few years.
Have a great week.

I am amazed at Jeff's behavior, Sandy. How can he??
The ice cream social was great fun. I am going to miss these people.
Someone at the clubhouse recommended HERITAGE ISLE in Melbourne on the East Coast. It looks lovely too and they have apartments and houses for rent. DSIL loved the way Diamond Oaks Village looked, Jane. I will let you know when we will be in your area to look. Maybe we can get together?

Good morning. DGD is still with her aunt as she is participating in a bike parade for the 4th. They line up at 8:30 and start at 9:00. I will go to the park which is the finish to see her there. We will then have a car if she needs a ride back to the start to pick up DD's car. We did this about 8 - 10 years ago with DGS who is now 12. At that time his did was the Grand Marshall of the parade. At the end they had food and drinks donated by McDonalds and other local merchants.
I think I am making dinner for all this evening. DD #2 and DGS will be coming down from Nashville this late afternoon. I will have him and DGD #1 through Friday.
Sandy Things so sound like they are beginning to come together for your family. I know first hand that it is never easy.
Vicki I hope the relief from heat and humidity will come my way. Today is predicted to be the hottest day yet. It feels like an oven outdoors. Already in the mid 80's with high, high humidity.
QOTD: Please share a memory of a special or interesting 4th of July past. When the kids were younger we always went to the local fireworks, no matter where we lived. My oldest just said the other day that the 4th was always her favorite holiday. Now with fireworks being sold in large tents they are being set off for a week before the 4th and a week after. It is only lawful on the 4th but there are so many doing it that local police cannot keep up. Tonight there will be fireworks being set off in every neighborhood/. The local displays were last Sunday because everyone knows on the 4th you can just stay home and see them in every direction.
I have to say that I am being good this week. Weight has gone down a little day by day, or stayed the same. At least no gains. I have refrained from my very bad habit of fast food and the results show in a positive way. I have also cut out diet coke which usually accompanies fast food. I don't keep any at home.
