My new avatar is a picture Debbie took before we went to watch the fireworks last night.
Gail I keep asking myself that same question along with why is Debbie being so generous in her offer knowing what a freeloader he is but she told me she is just trying to be fair and help until he gets a job but I still feel if he already got all that money from the sale of the farm she should not give him any financial support.
Laundry today and hope to get out for a walk. As bad as it was out yesterday I did get in a half hour walk in the morning by taking each dog separately for 15 minute walks each. After today it's supposed to cool down and I'm hoping to be able to open up the house for a few days before the heat moves back in.

Good Morning!
Today is much cooler than yesterday and will not reach the 90s, at least for that we can be grateful. Like yesterday, rain is expected this afternoon.
After yoga I plan to go to Fit 4 Life class. I must say, it does not seem like Thursday.
Sandy, Jeff is a real piece of work. His sense of entitlement is unbelievable, as is the fact that he wanted Maija to lie for him and convince her friends to drop charges. Debbie is a good person for offering to pay some of his legal fees, which comes as no surprise as you and Fred are good people. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
QOTD: What is your favorite summer memory?

Greetings:
Sandy, nice pic of you both. Debbie is quite generous with Jeff He may come to expect that. Things are fallling into place nicely for her and Maija. Hopefully the cars will present themselves and the job possibility is also hopeful. Life is moving in the right direction for them.
Had a quiet afternoon. We went to the food truck rally, but there were so few seats that we wound up going in to one of the restaurants. There were a couple of interesting trucks, but DH said nothing was so interesting he'd want to stand up and eat it! Guess being younger would have helped. And definitely him taking his noon pill would have helped! He napped through that and didn't take it when he got up.
And the tax preparer finished up our taxes yesterday. Email is so wonderful! She emailed the docs we needed to sign. We signed, scanned and sent them back and then. voila. all done! I really think that next year this will be better. I noticed that the two documents we'd waited so long for were actually available online much earlier than they were mailed. So, all I have to do is remember that next year! I did put a note in the file to help.
Jane, so Bar Louie is a chain. I generaly don't like chains as generally their food isn't as good. Terrible generalization. But I was quite impressed with the burgers at the reduced price. I do hope that they keep up the good work. The restaurant where we went last night is not a chain. However, their food has been dicey in that it was definitely mediocre the last time we were there. Because of the food trucks, practically all of the restaurants were closesd. This wasn't where we would have chosen, but I was surprised at how much better tasting the meal was.
QOTD: What is your favorite summer memory?
AOTD: My favorite memory as a kid was staying up late and watching the "late" movie on TV with my mother. Summers my DF was gone for blocks of time so it was just us girls then. We'd also take the garden hose and spray it on the roof to cool the house down. We didn't have air conditioning or ceiling fans and it got hot upstairs where my sister and I slept. And making dinner out of the garden. Then we'd dump a can of tuna fish on top and call it dinner. That didn't happen when DF was there. He wanted a full dinner. So, it was a break for all of us.
My favorite recent memory has been our drive to the East Coast, stopping to meet you along the way and then eating lobster in Maine and stopping at wineries from home until we were back home again. These memories I wouldn't have but for DH. He's a pretty great DH.
today I want to get a walk in. Yesterday afternoon the young man who bought the storage shed came to pick it up. Yes! cleared off a wall. I was moving things around from the outside of my big pile of stuff and found more things that are Goodwill bound. And a few boxes to break down and put in my moving box donation pile.
Gail, sounds like things are moving along for you as well. That's good.

This is yesterday's post which was still out there, unfinished. Needless to say I had a very busy day. Kids will leave me around 3:00 and I don't work. This evening will be MINE!
Good morning. DGD is still with her aunt as she is participating in a bike parade for the 4th. They line up at 8:30 and start at 9:00. I will go to the park which is the finish to see her there. We will then have a car if she needs a ride back to the start to pick up DD's car. We did this about 8 - 10 years ago with DGS who is now 12. At that time his did was the Grand Marshall of the parade. At the end they had food and drinks donated by McDonalds and other local merchants.
I think I am making dinner for all this evening. DD #2 and DGS will be coming down from Nashville this late afternoon. I will have him and DGD #1 through Friday.
Sandy Things so sound like they are beginning to come together for your family. I know first hand that it is never easy.
Vicki I hope the relief from heat and humidity will come my way. Today is predicted to be the hottest day yet. It feels like an oven outdoors. Already in the mid 80's with high, high humidity.
QOTD: Please share a memory of a special or interesting 4th of July past. When the kids were younger we always went to the local fireworks, no matter where we lived. My oldest just said the other day that the 4th was always her favorite holiday. Now with fireworks being sold in large tents they are being set off for a week before the 4th and a week after. It is only lawful on the 4th but there are so many doing it that local police cannot keep up. Tonight there will be fireworks being set off in every neighborhood/. The local displays were last Sunday because everyone knows on the 4th you can just stay home and see them in every direction.
I have to say that I am being good this week. Weight has gone down a little day by day, or stayed the same. At least no gains. I have refrained from my very bad habit of fast food and the results show in a positive way. I have also cut out diet coke which usually accompanies fast food. I don't keep any at home.

Sandy I love you and Fred's new picture. That's a keeper. And Karen E I got a chuckle out of your new picture too.
AOTD: We lived in a very small town growing up. The library was the only summer attraction. So laying on my bed next to the open window, feeling the breeze, and being taken to another place and time with a good book is one of my fondest memories. I have no idea why I do not enjoy reading anymore.
We had a very good time at the potluck yesterday. I enjoyed my cake for dessert and left it at the clubhouse for the bingo players to enjoy later. It absolutely poured yesterday late afternoon, so we didn't even consider going to the fireworks last night. We could see a bit of it and hear them too. Sadly we will hear fireworks for many nights to come. Poor dogs and war veterans.
We will have lunch at Ruby Tuesday's today for their special. Our local RT accommodates my allergy very well. While chain restaurants are not always top notch, they seem to all have an allergy policy in place.
Karen C did you see my post about your coughing? Are you still bothered by it?

I have been on the go since 7. I started at the pool, came home, left at 8:30 and headed toward Naples. DH had a free breakfast at Mel's diner so went there and then to his Dr. in Bonita springs, then back to N. Naples to Bealls. I had a $10 coupon and gave the cashier a quarter and got 3 cents back. Big spender. That Bealls, Mel's diner, and the Dr. are all fairly close so today was the last day to use my $10 so took care of it all. That Dr. is only there on Mon. and wed. and so that is a problem for us. Bridge is canceled the next 2 Monday but then after that I need an early appointment for him before line dance class.
Gail FL. is full of choices so I am sure you will like looking at several but important to know which side of the state you want on. If you ask people on this side they will say this side because even though it is full of Snowbirds, it is still better than being around Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Also for reason of freeze line temps it is best to be south of Bradenton. I would definitely eliminate The Villages because of their reputation and also the size of the place. Diamond Oaks has a lot to offer and if you want to really downsize that 1 bedroom apartment comes in 3 different sizes I think and that location is just perfect. The sign for Estero is almost in front of Diamond Oaks so it is barely in Bonita Springs. I would eliminate Naples because no one can afford to live in Naples. Naples is beautiful--that is for sure --so nice to be able to visit there but they make a big deal of saying people who work in Naples have to live elsewhere because of the cost.
I have got to get busy but needed a break after my busy 5 hours.

I have a great idea and hope you think so too. Tomorrow is recipe sharing day, which we’ve been mostly negligent of. What I’d like all to share is a recipe that is cool and refreshing for our hot weather. If you don’t cook much just think of a food or drink. See you tomorrow.

Sharon, I thought I was keeping up with posts, but apparently missed at least one.
As for the coughing, it's stopped. When I have cheese, the next day I find myself clearning my throat and coughing a bit. So, I know I've had milk products and it's still affecting me. I never have milk products 2 days in a row. I say milk products, but the only thing I knowingly eat is cheese. Pretty much just brie. DH makes scrambled eggs with gratted cheeses, but has stopped putting it in. He's more attentive than I am and chastises me when I have a bite. Today at Costco I passed up a sample of some kind of cheese.
What was unexpected is a change in talking. For quite awhile I had an issue with my throat seeming to close up when I talked. I thought my throat was dry so I'd stop and drink some water, but now I'm noticing that without the milk product that I don't have that same constricted feeling in my throat which turned my voice into a squeak!.
And swallowing is much easier. the allergy doc said that was probably the most important thing to notice. If I continued having trouble swallowing then I needed to go back and see her. But, swallowing is so much better. Makes me wonder when those negative gradual changes occurred. I just absorbed them as natural and wasn't aware at all.
Gave blood Tuesday for the kidnes function test. The results are still where they were so everthing is fine. I know I should drink more water. I need to make more of an effort to do that.
Went to Dicks and got 2 pair of shoes for walking and for the gym. I try to keep two and alternate them, but I've been down to one pair for quie a while and it's about worn out.
Thundering here. Hope for rain, especially on the fires!

Good evening!
I was out the door early this morning and was gone most of the day.
We got some rain this afternoon that dropped the temps significantly but the humidity is still very high so it's not really all that comfortable outside. We should have a less humid day tomorrow and then actually have a really nice weekend.....until the heat and humidity return.
Geri, I'm sending you some much needed relief from the oppressive weather!! It will only last a day or two but enjoy it while you got it!
Sharon, I like that idea for cool and refreshing recipes. I'll have to put my thinking cap on tonight.
Sandy, love the new profile pic!
AOTD: I have lots of good summer memories but one of my most favorites is going to the lake with my family (before my parents divorced). Mom always packed a delicious picnic lunch and we'd go for the day. The lake we went to had a really nice sandy beach but there were also hiking trails and a paddle boat that took people on tours of the lake.

It has been a busy day! After yoga and Fit 4 Life class I went to Target and got a new cushion for my chaise lounge (on clearance, yet- YAY!) then I came home and enjoyed the pool most of the afternoon. It didn't start raining until 6 p.m. so that is when we fixed dinner. It was a great day. AOTD: My favorite summer memory was the year we rented a cottage at Devil's Lake. The first day I cut my toe on a piece of metal in the lake, so was not able to swim, but I met some kids my age and managed to have a wonderful time in spite of my injury. I was 14. It was the last summer of my mother's life. Another favorite summer memory was when my kids were little and we went camping with family and friends. Nights around the campfire were such fun! We went every weekend and usually had 6 to 10 campsites. Saturday nights at the campground they had a band and dancing. It was a blast and a great thing to do as a young family. Sharon, Thanks for the tip on gas cards at Publix this weekend. Mike had already gone to the store and got one. We will be back one or two times before the weekend is over to stock up on groceries and gas cards. I think I have a couple of great summer recipes for tomorrow Geri, Enjoy your "me time" this evening.

I like that photo, Sandy. When I divorced my first husband I bent over backwards to make our agreement fair so we could raise our kids with as little anger as possible. My ex got away with murder. But he was/is a terrible dad and is now coming after me for more money. But we all have to do what we are comfortable with. I must admit I felt good then knowing I had not been unfair in my requests.
Good question Ruth! Fun to reminisce.
AOTD: My favorite summer memories are spending the whole summer in our bungalow in Long Beach, LI, NY. Beach 2 blocks in one direction, bay 1 block in the other. Same friends every summer, relatives all over the place (my mom grew up there). I could not walk more than one block in any direction without running into cousins, grandparents, etc. First real kiss, first real boyfriend, learned to swim, fishing, boardwalk, bowling and movies on rainy days, etc. We would ride our bikes to the beach in the late mornings. Our mom would bring us lunch. Then we'd stay there til dinner. Sand like powder. We were so lucky to have those years there.
Thanks for all the advice today and previously, Jane. So far I love the way Diamond Oaks Village looks. I do want to look at the place in Melbourne that a few of my neighbors go to.
It was a good day for me today. Yoga, meeting an old colleague for lunch, work, social committee meeting. In between I looked for refrigerators. The one we have broke right after the warranty ended.
Work early tomorrow so I need to go to bed. One last walk for Lola.
See you all tomorrow.
Gail
