TOOT, TOOT! CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville into your station, so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
This morning it was 69º and going up to 92º and mostly sunny with a few afternoon clouds and winds will be light and variable.
I’m not sure if we will be doing anything special today, maybe just get ready for tomorrow when Rachael will be confirmed and the whole family will be received as members of the Lutheran church here.
MJ and the girls went to Jackson yesterday to pick up copies of the girls’ birth certificates for their schools. They got that done very quickly and the lady doing it for them thanked them for being so friendly. She said people rarely take the time to do more than get their business taken care of and she appreciated that they chatted with her a bit. When they got done they went to the Children’s Museum but decided it was geared for smaller children, so they went to another museum where they had a display of Ripley’s Believe it or not and enjoyed that.
I stayed home and did some laundry and cleaned up our small kitchen a bit. We are hesitating to put things in drawers because ants seem to keep coming back. The exterminator gave us her number to call instead of asking the landlord to do it because there is always a delay of a few days before she get here. I noticed ants on the shelf yesterday and right away got out one of the ant traps the exterminator left for us and that seems to have helped.

Good morning Doris & ATF,
Sunny this morning. Currently 74; the high will be 84.
My family is still here. I think they will go home sometime today. The boys are having fun but I don't think as much as they would have if their dad wasn't here. For example: they love to wake Uncle Ed & me in the mornings. He told them not to ....let us sleep.
My plans are laundry and 5:00pm mass.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Emily,
Its too bad the boys' dad won't let them wake you and Ed in the morning, especially since it is something they love to do. I hope he gets over his depression over the death of his sister (I think) soon and will be OK staying by himself so the boys can enjoy being with you.
The laundry is one of those never ending chores it seems, but one that has to be done.
I hope you can have some fun with the boys before they go home again.

Good morning!
Today the temp range will be 77º to 87º, so a lovely day, temp wise. We are hearing little bits of thunder off in the distance, but no rain so far, darn it. We expect Anne and her mom (DD) to come over some time today to find Anne's box I packed for her some years ago. I put together some things for her first apartment, just as I did for DGS1 for his. Any of the items she doesn't want will carry over to DGD2's box for her first apartment, and then her box will have its beginning. I have 5 years before DGD2 graduates from high school, but I enjoy doing this as a way of decluttering my things without angst. As I work through cabinets, drawers, etc I put things that they might want in a box for them to have. For example, in my cabinets at the moment I have four crock pots of various types. I think there is one in Anne's box, too. So I seldom miss the things I pack away!
Doris, I'm glad MJ was able to get the documents she needed easily. Does that mean the girls are all set? Will all three need uniforms? I'm glad they could enjoy the museum. Our kids always enjoy Ripley's in Branson. DD has a problem with bugs in her apartment, though the maintenance has it sprayed once a month. T hey keep kitchen utensils in plastic storage boxes from walmart. She found some that fit in their drawers, and she just feels better knowing they are protected. I'm glad you can just call the exterminator.
Emily, it is too bad that the boys' dad wouldn't let them wake you, but maybe he thought he was keeping them from disturbing you, not understanding that it is a game you all enjoy. Though from what you have said in the past, he doesn't sound very flexible.
Have a wonderful day, friends. Diane

Diane,
It sounds like you have a very good plan for helping your DGC when they move into their first apartment. I'm sure they are happy to get all the things you have put aside for them.
The kitchen in this house doesn't have much storage space. Two of the drawers are very shallow and don't open and close easily. I think they are about 3-4" deep and and there are 3 that are about 12" deep, one of which won't open. The upper cabinets are very high (must have been built by tall people) and hard to reach beyond the second shelf, and even that is high. Oh well, we hope it won't be forever.

I laughed when I read about your "tall" spaces. When I first moved in here I was surprised at how high every thing was. the young boy that lived down the street used to pop in now and then and ask me where the "big guy" was. the one towel bar is so high in bathroom I have to use the step ladder to hang towels on it. so I just got a set of towels too pretty to use and use them on that bar. LOL My DDs said do you notice all the fixture are the wrong way. so we figures out he was left handed too.
Sounds like it is good idea to just call exterminator your selves. It sometimes take a few times to get rid of those pesky ants. My Mom used an exterminator for whole year. until they finally disappeared for ever. They don't need a big opening to get in and her mobile home was air tight. They would just show up. who knows where they got in but when we tore the carpet up in the Florida room, there were piles of dead ones under the edge of the carpet so the exterminator was working. Just took time. Glad you are down to just a few. Do call because they will just become lots in no time. I still shiver with the thoughts of my Mom's problem with them.
Some of my plans for today have gone by the wayside. Just not in mood and no energy today. did get to library to take my books back, but was just a quick trick. And my neighbor brought me a couple tomatoes that her friend brought her, Guess they brought lot more than she can use. Hooray.
Off to make bed. and sort through some clothes. Thinking laundry day maybe a batch or two.
I am wearing a skort that I have not been able to button at the top. Hooray. that makes a person feel good. not ambitious but good.

Connie,
Congratulations on being able to wear a skort that you haven't been able to wear for a long time because you couldn't button it, makes you feel good doesn't it.
At least you have an answer to why everything was so high in your house. I don't know the reason for the ones here, but it is frustrating to have shelves that are too high to use for anything.
Sometimes its nice to just be able to put aside things you don't feel like doing and wait until another day.
