Hi!
Oh, what a day! I had thought to go to the nursing home this morning, but it looked so cloudy outside that I decided to call first. The receptionist told me that someone from this side of the state had just come in and said it was pretty slick. I had them let Mom and Dad know we wouldn't be there today.
After we decided not to make the trip to the nursing home, DH and I made a list and decided to go to Sam's and Wal-Mart before we got ice. We made it fine, but when we arrived home I realized that I'd forgotten something important, so I returned. Right away, I found that it was slick (freezing mist) -- especially on the traffic circles. I made it to Wal-Mart, but the return trip (5 miles) was a nightmare. The very fastest I could go on straight roads was 25 mph. Getting up hills and starting/stopping at stop signs was very dangerous.
The reason for planning an early visit was that The Nutcracker presentation was tonight. Just received word that it has been cancelled. I wonder what arrangements they will make for a redo . . . I know they had to rent the historic theatre where it was to be performed. What a mess! Those poor kids -- and grandparents that are coming from long distances. Our kids' other grandparents had made it half-way before turning back. They live 3 hours away. Just so everyone is safe.
DH got the ingredients for more cinnamon pecans and peanut brittle. I had thought to make more fudge, but didn't get any more sweetened condensed milk; so I'll have to go back when the ice melts. I did get a jar of jelly beans of different flavors. I'll pack a plastic bag of them to send to Germany.
Okay, I need a little help with the dipping chocolate for my buckeyes. Can I use Gulf Wax paraffin? I bought it in the grocery candy section, but it sure doesn't say anything about using it in candy. What would you do? All comments will be appreciated.
Molly

Bettyj, better to stay home and be safe. Your new Yorkie will be a wonderful present. Animals make people feel better, I think.
Isn't that majestic? Mount Hood.
I still don't know how to do this. I have to copy the photo on my PC, go to FB, go to my photos, add the photo, then copy the link. I think.

Dianne, Yorkies are so cute. I had a friend who had a miniture. When she decided to put her self in a nursing home she had to find him a home. I am glad you canceled that appointment with the weather conditions not good.
Molly, I would not have gotten out at all much less turn around and go back. I have no answer for you on the paraffin. Have you googled it. That is alwys my solution.
Hooray, Connie, added a picture. Congratulations. You get an 'A+' also! Yes the way you did it is the only way. You can't upload to the page from your computer like you can for your avatar.
Went to town. I think I am good for now. While I was in the store I decided to put one of my paintings in the Chinese gift exchange the 31st that daughter is having for our family. The only one who will be missing is the granddaughter, hubby and 2yr old moving to CA. The youngest who will be there is 12. It is a winter snow painting. I have it on my wall now. The adults for sure would like it.

Molly, why put wax in anyone's body? Just saying.
I can tell you from living overseas make sure items in your packages do not shake. Cookies will arrive as cookie crumbs.
Silver on my hair!!! That is the gorge that goes out to the ocean!

Connie uses Gulf Wax. That's good enough for me. I'll use it. Lucy, you're giving me a complex with the A+ grades! I'm such a scholastically competitive person! LOL! I think I'll "drop" this class.

It is Bettyj with new Yorkie (soon).
Betty, you will have to learn this picture routine so we can see the new arrival! Just saying.
One of the problems is that everyone's PC is a bit different (browser, etc).
OK, one more picture. view from my window

Oh, Connie, I think it was Cat loading another picture and you posted right under her. I don't know. I gave the Yorkie to Dianne and it is Peggy Sue getting it. Oh, Well!
Molly. don't give up on learning to load a picture. Did you look at that web site with instructions for the keyboard when you don't have a mouse?
Cat, you have really gotten the hang of loading pictures. I like the one of you.
I got my wii fit and started to walk with the goal to hit 1000 steps. Well, the batteries died in the board. I looked for batteries and all I found were dead. So trashed them. I bought 2 rechargeables in town, but that was all they had there and I did not want regular. So..... I am charging 2 I found in the drawer. Hope they are still good.
Was checking fb message to see if DBIL has gotten moved. Nothing so I guess not today. Nothing on Trace either.
I think it is time to read.

Not Peggysue. It is Bettyj. But, then, maybe everyone is getting a Yorkie?
Betty, place the Yorkie in your DH's lap first thing. It will be love!
We are funny.
I forgot to say (imagine that?) that the Xmas ornaments are lovely, Lucy. Does Barely have a Xmas sweater?

BettyJ, congrats on becoming a pet owner. My DD has two miniature Yorkies, the oldest (15 yo) is not doing well but you can't tell by the way she acts. They do make good indoor dogs.
Cat, enjoying your pics. all are beautiful to look at. You'll be able to post with your eyes closed soon. ;o) Keep them coming.
Molly, glad the Nutcracker was postponed, don't want to risk anyone's life. Sorry, but can't help with the wax.
All of my shopping is complete!! but can't find one charge slip. Also bought some things for myself too, but they won't be wrapped I'll use them now. Going to go back to Hobby Lobby and see if I left it there GRRRR!
Did see some moisture (noticed I did say moisture) on my windshield but not enough turn on the wipers or mess up the windshield.
Tomorrow snow in the am, partly cloudy about 9, and clearing by afternoon. How crazy is that?
Well resting a bit before I head out again.

With all the folks staying home, I think the Internet is over-taxed.
DD and her family have had a difficult time this evening. The roads are all icy from the frozen mist. DD made it home okay with the girls, but DSIL tried to pull off to refuel and slid into a stop sign. The windshield was crashed, so the car is underivable. His parents were on their way to attend The Nutcracker and were MIA on I-70 for awhile. He finally had to just leave his car. His parents finally got here and I think they are spending the night at DD & DSIL's home. The last I heard there had been 300 accidents and the tow truck drivers were no longer taking calls. Central Missouri is a mess!
I've been pretty lazy this afternoon. Thought I'd be skating my way to The Nutcracker until about 3 p.m. Then worried about DD and DSIL. That ended about 6 p.m. By that time, I was ready for a nap! LOL!
Good night! See y'all tomorrow! (I love Yorkies! Be very protective of him though -- the one I cared about was stolen.)

Good late evening,...it's 9o'clock, I was here several times this morning and thought I'd posted....hmmm??? We had a quiet day....lots of sunshine, but needed warm jackets. It's gotten colder....going down to 27* in the morning. But then it will warm up and be in the low 50s. DH coming along nicely....gets tired easily, but that's natural right after surgery. I'm all done with Christmas for the most part...need a few special cards. I was lucky to get my avatar here[picture of part of our front yard at night]. don't think I'll attempt pics in the middle of my posts. I do enjoy seeing yours. Nice wreath, Cat. ") Almost bed time...hope to get here in the morning for a change. Sweet dreams all. Jingle Bells Pat

On my way to bed.. but first...
Molly, I'm so glad no one was hurt, but boy it sure sounds like the roads were a mess.. best to just stay put if one can.
CAT!! yay you.. you are now a teacher status and can help Lucy with those of us who are a bit slower than you at learning new things.. lol. I haven't tried today to put pictures in but I think I can learn it if I just pay attention.
Kathie, Can you empty your cache? And then sign back in again? I think that might help... there should be a place at the top of your message box where you can change the size of the font etc.
Hubby went to Trader Joes with my list and came home with all the wrong things.. lol . . A shopper he isn't... but he tries so he gets E for effort. At least I can use the things he bought so it's not a total waste.
Rain is gone and the sun shone all day but it was cold.. for us at least. We didn't get out of the forty's all day.. That is cold for here.
Sleep well my holly jolly friends.... Wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go...................>
Jenny
