Happy Day All!
Well, I think I'm back to normal - whatever that is for me. Yesterday was good and not too tiring, thank goodness. Just grocery and a haircut. Haven't done the latter since we were up here before, so that was a real load off! Quite short again.
Today is work on some computer stuff with/for DH and go to the surgeon appt. This will probably be the last one. Also going to run by Verizon to get DH's new (refurbished) phone hooked up. I can probably do it myself, but don't want to mess it up.
Mar - we'll be here until mid-Oct when DH has to go back for bloodwork to check on his kidneys. He also has a couple of events in central FL in Oct, so will go from there rather than come back up here.
Dayle - how is the princess? Sure hoping she's okay.
Lin - wish I'd known it was national root beer float day - any excuse! Plus, I might have had the kind with diet A&W and a shot of Pinnacle Port Whipped Cream Vodka - SO good.
Connie - stuffed peppers sound really good. Will remember that. We're in kind of a rut, I think. Glad your friend is okay.
Geri - our vet will send someone out to the car as well if you ask them. Nice.
BettyJ - how is DH doing? Hopefully he's doing better with following directions of the doctor.
Emily - sounds like you and DSis had a good weekend. Your DD has sure had a lot lately. Am glad they came to you for the key and didn't expect you to bring it to them.
PeggySue - August in central FL can be a bear, I know. You and Lin have the most reason to get out and about early and then stay in!
I may not start tomorrow if I decide to go to the shelter as I leave early to beat the sun over the mountain - try to leave by 7 AM. Otherwise, the sun is directly in my eyes on that hilly, curvy road. May decide to stay home and smoke some chickens. A friend had surgery yesterday and I'd like to take them one.
Have a good day all!

Good Morning All
Dayle - What did the vet say about Ms Lily?
Geri - Did vet say Brenna is doing really good?
Emily - You and DD did have quite a weekend.
I didn't know about root beer float day. Out of diet A&W (my favorite root beer). I did have 3 oz of the float (ice cream) yesterday. Guess I half celebrated that one.
Everyone have a Tasty Tuesday.

Good morning Penny & ATF,
Hazy, hot & humid again today. Currently 81; the high will be 91.
This afternoon I have an allergist appointment for my monthly shots. Will need to pick up medicines at CVS when I get back home. Nothing else is planned so will see what comes my way.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning All!
Leaving for the Vet in a half hour. Don’t know if I am being an alarmist or not. The princess seems fine- eats like a little pig and pretty much behaves like normal. Except when she doesn’t. I know the Vet is going to think I’m crazy – I don’t care, need to get her checked out for my peace of mind if not hers.
Lin I honestly don’t know how you are bearing up with the heat so extreme. I know my friends in Dallas where summer temps are pretty high don’t feel it – they say their blood thins out and they take it in stride. Don’t think I could ever do that. Please stay indoors and be safe.
Penny, bet you’ll be glad to visit the shelter. I’m sure they’ve missed you and your help while you’ve been away.
Yesterday I made the base for the doll house – all glued and put together. When I come home today, I’m going to try and make some sense out of all the trim pieces in the box maybe tape them together and label them. I went out online yesterday looking for doll house wall paper. I found this neat site called Jennifer’s printables which offers free miniature wall paper and other things that you can download and print for yourself. She has boxes of groceries (Ritz crackers/can labels) that you can print. Wish I had known about her when I was working on my diner thingy. May revisit and add some groceries to the shopping bag Mom was carrying later on. Do I sound crazy? Probably. I found a whole community of nuts like me on line yesterday- people who are obsessed with making miniature things, furniture, people etc. I saw a tutorial on using a circular saw – put one on my wish list from Amazon. My hands got itchy just thinking about it!
Well must eat something and then get the princess ready for the car trip. She usually suffers the trip in silence and then gets all excited once we’re there!
Everyone enjoy their day!

Good morning everyone,
Dont think we are going to Carlsbad today and spending the night. The fire in the canyon is out of control. The smoke is probably really bad. Hubby really wants to go. I can take it or leave it.
Going to be 101 today. But will be 85 in Carlsbad. We will leave around 10 if we go.
Yesterday did get some gardening done in back yard. Looks nice. Want to do more later in the week when it's a little cooler. Want to deadhead the rose bushes. Want to wash off patio furniture.
Dayle- hope vet visit goes well. Love hearing about the doll house.

Dayle, better for your piece of mind to take pup to the vet's.
From what I hear from friends in Reno, air is bad their from the CA fires. Best you stay home.
Just have a few errands to run, nothing vital. Hope everyone is fine and will have a good day.

Dayle, maybe Lily is picking up on your stressing about her? Hope the Vet visit goes well.
I am lazy this morning got up earlier than usual and do have a load of wash in but that is a no brainer. but makes me feel like I am productive. having my 2nd cup of coffee now.
We are to get rain today but so far none of the clouds seem to have any moisture in them at all. I think it would help the allergies for people if we would get some. Just don't want it for days.
I love my hair when it is really short, Penny, my girlfriend had a really short spiky hair cut but I would look good in that but do like it short with the longer bangs. Hope you are liking your haircut. I am going with my neighbor when she gets her hair cut Thursday, she goes back to her home town to get it done about a half hour away and we go to lunch after. This time we are going to her family run wing place that is a restaurant and bar but pretty quiet at lunch time she she will get a chance to talk to her nieces that run it. They have all kinds of things on the weekend, antique car and truck shows. Mud races in the lot next to them. Outside BBQs and smoked meats couple times in the summer. A popular place way out in the country. Good burgers and wings and Fridays are fish day. I am thinking wings, have not had them long time.

Hope all the fur babies are doing well today. Dayle, glad you decided to take Miss Lily to the vet. Always helps when they check them over.
Mar, I would be very concerned about going near the smoke and fires.
Got the 3rd load of laundry in. One load of sheets one of towels and one dark clothes. Dishwasher running too and bathrooms cleaned. Probably about all for the day.
Time for Ozzies walk. bettyj

Back from the vets! Princess checked out OK, but put her on antibiotics for 5 days as precaution for stomach issues. Said she could have picked up something rancid in the back yard that is causing distress. Everything else checked out OK. Peeing on the bed could have been a fluke. Maybe I scared/surprised her when I got up to use the bathroom - she was sleeping soundly. Suggested I go back to Science diet dog food instead of new Blue Buffalo that we were trying (been on that for two months). He said Blue Buffalo is a much richer diet than the other. Not something Ms. Lily needs. If she's not over enthusiastic about her food, that's OK.

Peggy, Brenna is doing just fine. She has Costco Kirkland food and the vet was fine with that. I trust Costco products.
Dayle, glad pup is fine. I tried the Blue once and the dogs picked out the little dark things and put them on the floor. Wouldn't eat them.

Hi, after 114 yesterday, anything looks better. I really do get cold easily after 37 years here, but the last three each year it is hotter and lasts longer. Used to semi-humid 106 this time of year. I am ok with under 110. After that it feels like it gets twice as bad every two degrees. Supposed to be 110 today and then weather shift with possible rain and norm.
Even the desert plants are having trouble this year as we have not had moisture make it to the ground much, just dust.and winter was dry.
listened to an audio book yesterday, a Louise Penny mystery, and stayed up with exoecting end...FINALLY at 1 AM! DH can just shut it off even right before the solution! Audio is so slow. I read books fast.
so we have zombie day with heat again. No ambition.

Made an Atlantic beach pie...essential a lemon or lime custard pie in a cracker crust with whipped cream topping. Too lazy to do saltine cracker crust and DH hates graham crackers so it has an Oreo crust! I think you could just bake the filling without crust. can of condensed sweet milk, four egg yolks, pinch of salt, 1/2 c lemon juice , into the crust, bake 350 for 15 minutes or until set. Chill four hours.

Today I've been to PT and a caregiver group meeting. This afternoon I'm not doing anything. hb's caregiver/companion was here and took him to take care of watering and to pick up a battery for the lawn tractor. Tomorrow he's taking hb to do more watering and to the dentist. I'm getting smarter about letting them do things! With help and someone who is thinking logically, hb can do some of the errands while I take care of other things.
The lawn that needs watering is at hb's house that has five apartments. A sprinkler system would have been a good investment twenty years ago but not now. This is the place where the property manager was causing so many problems and I had insisted on meeting any new tenants before leases were signed. I have terminated the property manager with 30 days notice. Changeover day is in two days. So far, all is going well.
My foot is getting better, but it's not there yet. I'm diligent in doing my exercises!
