TOOT, TOOOOT! CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville down the track and into your station so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
This morning it was 70Âş and going up to 93Âş and partly cloudy today. Winds will be light and variable.
The girls start school today and I hope they will be happy in their new schools. Hannah is a senior in high school and finally got a schedule that will let her get out early, so she can find a job and work after school.
Rachael still doesn’t know if she will be in 8th grade or have to repeat 7th grade and we hope she will be OK with either. It looks like she won’t be able to start school today, because she doesn’t have a schedule of classes yet. She came home from open house in tears because of the whole situation.
Sarah’s 4th grade class is in a school that is for grade 4 only.
MAXINE CALENDAR: Tue 8/7: There are bound to be tantrums when kids are on a flight. And sometimes the kids act up, too.
PEANUTS CALENDAR: Tue 8/7: Word search puzzle. Answer to yesterday’s question: How many common words of four letters or more can you make from the letters in the following word? (You may use each letter only once.) SCIENCE - Some answers are: scenic, ecesic, nieces, scene, since, niece, cense, ices, nice, cees, seine, sine, sene, seen)

Good morning Doris & ATF,
Hazy, hot & humid again today. Currently 81; the high will be 91.
This afternoon I have an allergist appointment for my monthly shots. Will need to pick up medicines at CVS when I get back home. Nothing else is planned so will see what comes my way.
I feel so bad for Rachael; she doesn't need stress from school. She has had enough this year.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning!
Our temps will range from 80Âş to 90Âş today. Hmmm. It is 80Âş right now. We will be going out for a "welcome home" pizza lunch with our family, honoring our DGS1, who has been in Germany for several months. This way everyone can see him for a little while, and his stories will only have to be told once! He is only in town for a week, and then he has to go to Norman to get moved into his apartment. It is so hard to imagine that he is already 21 years old! In fact, he'll be 22 in December.
We have two kids moving into new apartments this year. He will have a lot of his furniture provided by his roommate, but he has to furnish his own room. DGD1 has to furnish hers totally, and we have offered her several things. We still don't know if she'll actually take them -- she has to arrange a truck and some help! If she has to take just what will fit in her car, well..... She is almost 19, and has been adulting here lately quite well, but lots still to do. Strange new term -- adulting -- but that is what the kids call it.
I'm praying for all the kids related to this board to have a successful year. I remember when DGD1 was in 8th grade. She got to school and found that she had no schedule! So she sat in the counselor's office till it got straightened out and she made it to third hour. She didn't have a phone when that happened, but she got one that evening! DGS2 (her brother) is going into 7th grade this year, and his mom got him a phone last weekend.
Have a happy day!
Diane

Emily,
I hope your allergist appointment goes well as usual. It sounds like you have a nice quiet day today.
I wonder if Rachael will get some kind of information from the school today so she can get her class schedule and go to school with her sisters.

Diane,
The welcome home pizza lunch with your family should be fun and give everyone a chance to visit with DGS1 who is back from Germany.
I haven't heard the term "adulting" here yet, but it does sound strange. We know our kids are growing up when they move into their own apartment and we try to help them with extra furniture we sometimes have.

There are always glitches and tears the first few days of back to school. I remember those days with both my DDs and DGDs. Seems like boys don't get as emotional about it. I am sure it will work out and sometimes they let a student just take one class with the lower grade but still move up with the rest of the schedule. You would not want her to be behind in everything and sounds like it is just math. Maybe a student tudor for awhile will be the answer. Hope it all goes well but be prepared for a lot of tears with school, friends etc and girls. Only thing I really didn't like with teenage girls is slamming doors. And we stopped that quickly with a warning that the doors would be taken off the hinges. Oh Lord glad we didn't have to do that.
It is dreary today and the weatherman says rain. It might help the allergies if we got more than a sprinkling. I have decided to dump 2 of my containers and one has a vine I can plant along the side of the garage. rest of dirt does where I need more good dirt. Also need to put some Miracle Gro on the hanging baskets. Always do that in august and put them out in the rain. If we get any.
no plans today sometime a trip to Rite Aide, it is just down the street and no hurry. Not even dressed yet. Calli up chucked a fur ball and her breakfast this morning. hate when she does that. I changed my routine this morning and she was trying to figure it out and meowing at me. she likes to sit in the window sill when I start on the computer but I went to the basement first thing and confused her. Ha Ha pay attention Calli!!!

Connie
I had a post all ready to send to you and it disappeared somewhere into outer space I guess. I'll try again.
We hope the school person who does scheduling will get Rachael's scheduled worked out today. I know it was frustrating for her to see her two sisters go to school and she couldn't go. She finally just went back to bed and is still asleep at 10:30.
I decided to do my laundry since all is quiet here this morning.

Our older grandkids are starting their adulting. Some with one step up and one back and most one step at a time. Our second DGD was here last night with her whole family for supper. Yum!! They brought corn on the cob! Anyway she and her BF who is becoming one of the family are going to Spain on Wednesday. She planned out the whole itenerary and will stay at air BNB's. I think that is where someone lets you stay in their home. They said that Europe is experiencing record breaking heat and a lot of places don't have AC. I don't think that will bother them. Her BF speaks very good Spanish so they should have no problems.
Doris, I hope by now that Rachael's schedule is worked out and she is happy with the situation. Praying that Hannah and Sarah are happy with their classes.
We had lots of thunder and lightening last night and a little rain. At least we didn't get the destructive hail that they got in Utica!

Helen,
It sounds like you enjoyed supper with your second DGD and her family and heard about the plans she and her BF have for going to Spain. I hope they have a wonderful experience there. I'm glad you didn't get any of the destructive hail like some areas did.
Rachael's schedule still isn't worked out so she has been home.

afternoon riders, finally got the upstairs dusted.don did the low stuff for me.his idea.he is one guy that will survie if I die first.
now ironing that is a different ball game.he had to do his uniforms in the air force. those were not easy.I remember ironing my dear brother's after he got out of the airforce. jim used his kakki's for working.
now I can see my shelves under the tv. hate dusting glass shelves.that is what don wanted.he takes me to alot of places and has bought me lots of things over the years. how could I say no???
so I missed out on a cooked luncheon at sew day. felt it was more important to get stuff done here today.
there are probably other kids who do not have schedule either. It makes me mad that the family could not stay in lincoln. hannah could have finished high school and gone onto union collage.
rachael and sarah could met up with their friends. phyl

Phyl,
It was nice that Don did the dusting of low things for you. I don't like all the bending to do things like that. It's too bad you missed out on the cooked luncheon though.
Actually, we are happy to be back in Mississippi again and hope it will work out OK for us. The schools are another thing though. Hannah didn't like the high school at all and she wants to check out home schooling. We'll see what the other two think of that. There is a home school association that does some things together here.
