People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
Questions of the day: Monday: Karen E; Tuesday: Ann; Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C: Sunday: Gail.

Gail I can feel your pain as I know how much you loved Lola but like you said it is for the best and you know she will have a good home.
Jane that is awful to have such conflicting statements! That is a good thing about our hospital, they have one doctor in charge of the team and he is the only one who gives you the information so no wondering who is correct as he gets it all worked out before he gives you the details.
Fred is golfing this morning and I have nothing planned. I do need to get to Wal-Mart but have to wait for him to get back as all cars will be gone!
Heard from Fred's sister who's planning a dinner for Fred as a belated birthday celebration and she reserved a private room at a steakhouse. She has invited all in town relatives and also said boyfriends are included! Debbie said Sam is very excited to meet everyone as he believes strongly in family ties and thinks it's good for dating couples to meet each other's family. There will be 19 there and that's just the ones who live in town as on Fred's side there are now 85! She's funny as she's almost treating this like a wedding reception as she said open bar and appetizers start at 6 and then we'll each order our dinners when we get there. This is his youngest sister who owns the condo on Maui so even though this place is very expensive she has said it's her treat. The good thing is even though it's very expensive it's also very casual. She's in town for her 50th high school reunion and does this whenever she comes to town as she and her husband are either at their home in Portland or at their condo on Maui. So August 16 we will finish celebrating Fred's 76th birthday!

Good morning friends.
Gail I am sure Lola will be fine but I feel for your loss. DSIL was one lucky fellow. I hope he continues to recover.
Joanne I love seeing you post even if it’s just a bit.
Karen C yikes almost driving off the road in WY can be dangerous. You and Bill are more adventurous than we are. We are “flat-landers” and mountains scare us. What would you say has been your highest altitude?
Jane how confusing. Those doctors need to communicate with each other. Hopefully Don is feeling better.
Welcome home Ruth. You posted some wonderful photos of your vacation.
No Q Today unless I think of one. Laundry this morning and WC exercise this afternoon.

QOTD: it’s time to visit our weight loss goals again. 1) What is your short term goal? 2) What is your end game goal? 3) What is your Lon term goal?
I will think on this and be back.

Good morning!
We're still overcast this morning but the rain has moved out. The grass is looking greener already. It's amazing what an inch or two of rain can do.
Sandy, what a generous gesture for your DH's birthday. I love family get-togethers.
Jane, I hope you get some real answers soon. It sounds like none of the doctors are on the same page. Prayers to you!
Sharon, that's a great QOTD but one I also need to think about.
Nothing exciting going on here today except for my life group meeting tonight.

Good Morning!
Yesterday I had a headache most of the day. Today I am feeling a little bit more settled and in my routine.
Sharon, I generally do not like driving on mountain roads either, but the Green Mountains in VT were not bad. Mountain roads in both CA and PA are downright scary! Great QOTD but one I will have to give some thought to as I am rethinking my goals.
Chair yoga and yoga soon, so better get some breakfast. BBL

Yesterday I only had time to skim posts, so went back to read them again.
Geri, Wow, you were able to get into a size 12 bathing suit!!! You ROCK! That is the size I wear in a swimsuit and I am a size 6 or 8 in everything else (mainly because of my chest).
Jane, I hope Don is feeling better today and that the Drs. can get on the same page. How frustrating for you both!
Karen, So glad you had a nice birthday dinner. Safe travels to you.
This morning's yoga class was awesome! Everything I did felt right and it was so good to be back!

AOTD: it’s time to visit our weight loss goals again.
1) What is your short term goal? To not gain over this summer trip or at least just 2-3 lbs. 2) What is your end game goal? To weigh 140. 3) What is your Long term goal? To maintain a lower weight, exercise and keep my heart as healthy as possible.
We did laundry and got a few groceries this morning. Now we are at the WC and will begin exercise. I’d rather take a nap but that will wait.

OMG, Jane. It is hard enough to be the caregiver without doctors giving you different messages.
I have been to WI. I am up almost 5 lb, but I know part of that is the cast and shoes. Anyways, it is my new base weight.
Then I got a manicure. Just clear polish as I don't know when I can get back.
This is all exhausting me. I drove both places. I am going to take a nap. Tomorrow I got someone from the senior center to drive me to the supermarket in town. Good thing.
I'll try to BBL.

What is your short term goal? Maintain my goal weight on a monthly basis. What is your end game goal? I always say "to weigh at least one time with my shoes on". 138# What is your long term goal? Once you reach Lifetime with WW you are always a Lifetime but we have to maintain goalweight to receive the free benefits. To be a Lifetime member the rest of my life barring health issues without paying weekly or monthly fees is my long term goal. Won't be easy.
I feel much better today, I should say rested. Been to town and took Jennah to band practice. Three grocery stores, suet for birds, laundry supplies and food. Spent wayyyyy to much for just 2 people. Towels are washed but need to put in dryer. Sewed a tad but will do more later. Tomorrow is refrigerator day and some outside time. Was very foggy this morning, hoping for a dryer morning tomorrow.
Jane, confusing instructions from Dr's. I understand your concerns. Don't think we have ever had that with our Dr's. But usually not dealing with more than one issue at a time. Hang in there. Glad he can enjoy playing cards.
Ruth beautiful pictures. Karen C, I really don't enjoy the mountains so will see how it is on a bus. Happy you got a good rain Vicki, enjoy your relaxing day. Sandy, sounds like a fun time with family for Fred's 76th birthday. Tell him Happy Birthday. Sharon, you did well last summer correct, while camping, thinking you can pull 2 in a row. Good luck. Joanne, electronics can be irritating, hope they get it fixed for you.
Have a great afternoon, going downstairs to sew. Hubby is headed to town for coffee time. He was gambling with buddies this morning.

Don't know what all that stuff is under my sign in time.
Gail, we were posting about the same time, haven't really figured out how you are driving, but be careful. Is it your left kneecap that is broken? As I have said before, you are a super woman.

I didn't mean to but I fell asleep while reading the post and a nuisance call woke me up. Couldn't have slept long since the computer was still on and it goes dark in just a few minutes.
The cardiologist nurse called while we were gone and Don is to lower the dose of that med. He was on 15 mg., and it was raised to 20 and now lowered to 10.
I am exhausted--obviously and have got to get up and get things done. I have not put all the groceries away and then need to go over Don's meds with him and fix some kind of dinner. He still has a piece of chicken from eating at Carabbas on Sun. I got to the pool for 25 min. while Don was sleeping this morning but have not done the exercises and had to use my cane to walk him into the DR. We look so pitiful with both of us using them! Walmart wore us both out and I left him in the car while I ran in 2 other places. Tomorrow I have to go pick up med for me and to Publix. We both need haircuts. Tomorrow he goes to the primary so I will see if I can manage the rest after that Dr. visit.
Where I teach line dancing has called and I told them I would be there on Sat.
I need to call Jeff tonight to check on him.
Storming here now. It will probably knock out the big TV.
Sharon I have talked to Don about that TV and said perhaps we should get a Smart TV. I know you gave up cable and wonder how the streaming works. Consumer Report has pages about it in this issue and it is all over my head and certainly Don can't understand it so just letting it go for now. If they do all this in home therapy I will have to pay for it for Don so that means no money for another TV. We have two others to watch.
Well on a "happy " note ,my 7 new pair of shoes came so I have plenty of shoes in about every color!

Karen E We spent $112 in Walmart and only $1.82 was for meat from the deli. And none of that was med since his 2 were free! none of it was for wine or pop either! I haven't had a glass of wine in probably 4 months or longer. I think about $6 was for Kelcy so what did we buy! ---everything on the grocery side of the store except a few things in the pet and drug aisles.
I have got to go put it all away

Of course you are exhausted, Jane. And worrying about Don adds to that. Try and get lots of sleep tonight.
Tomorrow I am going food shopping with the senior ride. It will be good not to have to drive myself. It is my left kneecap, Karen E, but it is so hard.
Here's something on a card a friend of mine got after having been in an accident. Love it.
My barn having burned to the ground, I can now see the moon.
Going to put up a new GROOVY MOVIES.
