A little cooler weather for today. Not 100 like yesterday. Lower 90's. Chance of rain. Come on rain.
I plan to go to the gym and grocery store. First I have to get my head to quit feeling its craziness.
Have a great Wednesday All. Enjoy August. Wishing for a Cool Spell Lucy

Good Morning Dog Days and Peggysue,
This morning it was 72Âş and going up to 92Âş with mixed clouds and sun and scattered thunderstorms today. Winds will be WSW at 5-10 mph.
Hannah and Sarah will go to school today, but Rachael still doesn’t know what grade she will be in and can’t go until it is decided. MJ is going to talk with someone in the office again today to see if she can find out anything more. She really wants to be in school. The teachers MJ has talked with are not very pleasant people and not helpful.
Hannah and Sarah both say they would like to be home schooled but I don’t know if that will happen. MJ has applied for more than 20 jobs and they all say she doesn’t have enough experience or they want someone younger or some other excuse for not hiring her.
I woke up during the night with an upset stomach and felt miserable all night. I finally stopped throwing up but still don’t have much energy.
MAXINE CALENDAR: Wed 8/8: Only time I really enjoy games on my phone is when someone’s waiting for my parking space.
PEANUTS CALENDAR: Wed 8/8: A Sudoku Puzzle with a difficulty rating of 5 stars.

Hi!
A cooler day -- 70Âş to 85Âş. We had a big storm yesterday evening, with high winds causing some damage and hard rain falling in a wall of water. It didn't last lang, but we lost internet for a while, and lots of people lost power for several hours. My computer had a shut down, but started up again this morning, thank goodness.
Three of our DGKs joined us for breakfast this morning. It was a lot of fun to see those sleepyheads up and eating breakfast. DGS1 and DGD2 came back to the house and he tried to reset my phone so I could send photos to the computer. I'll try it out in a little while. He leaves Saturday to start the move-in process for his apartment. DGD1 has an early dentist appointment, so she was up in time for that.
Our tenth grader has decided to apply to the tech school. His younger brother got in, so he is going to try. Nick is very good at math and science, and thinks that kind of program would work for him. Nate is good at anything mechanical, so that is his focus. Nick's girlfriend is going to be in her third year of tech nursing and will be wearing scrubs. She is so excited to do that. It is kind of endearing. If she really goes into nursing, she'll get very tired of them, I would think. Though I don't know -- they are very comfy. Nate is combining that program with JROTC and hopes to go into the service. I think that catches up with all our DGKS. Oh, yes, the little one will be in fourth grade, and she is scared she won't be able to do harder work. I guess kids are always nervous about school, but I really don't remember being that worried. Do you?
Sorry I've rambled on so long. I'll forgive anyone who doesn't read it all! Doris, hope your tummy feels better! That is a lousy feeling.
Diane

Good morning ladies,
It is a beautiful day here in the neighborhood!!! It is 80° Outside now and going up to 89° later!
I only stayed outside a few minutes with Sammy this morning!! I think that I need to stay inside With my allergies!! I took my nasal spray 4 times yesterday and I think my voice is a little better!!! I don't have very much drainage down the back of my noise!!!
Well, Rob and Jack got off just fine this morning!!! Rob is dropping Jack off at his wife's parents house on his way to school!!! Jack starts on the 15 Of August! Antonio is all wound up around here this afternoon!!! Ted is cleaning house and Antonio just loves that!!!
He has been inside the back of the couches and Sammy told him to get out!!! Now he is on top of my Kitchen sink cabinets laying by our Owl on the plant shelf!!! Antonio loves all the high places he can get to in here!!! He was setting up there this morning when I got up and Jack was sleeping on the couch!! Jack said he got up real early and he was watching Antonio. I new something was up because when I Got up I didn't hear Antonio crying out here!
Well, I'm going to go and watch tv, find something fun to do today!!

79° but very humid, just in last few minutes though we have been getting a nice breeze that helps. The rain storms go all the way around us but we get a few sprinkles and that is it.
I spent some time around lunch time with DD#2 on the phone. she is very stressed about the house and exhausted. They do have someone that wants to look at the house. They know they have been working on the house most of the summer and are really interested in it. Keeping my fingers crossed. they need it sold. She does have a mortgage on it and the don't think that they will make enough to pay it off but we can always hope. Seems like the lower priced houses are selling in our area right now. think she felt better after we talked and does plan to go home and go to bed after work, her DH is on afternoons and she doesn't have to worry about dinner etc. Not that he is not supportive he is, but he is tired and stressed as well.
I took some veggies to them and that way she won't be waiting on me to get there. I want her to go to bed!!!
the peaches are awesome. The Pa peaches and they are freestone. If I get more thinking of peach cobbler, usually do one in season. Will share it or I will eat the whole thing, like it days later even. but my friend loves it too so she will get some of it.
Cat, glad to hear that foot is okay. I do the exercises as well but honestly not good at keeping them up once it stops hurting. have to set a time to do them. I did put a couple pair of sandals in goodwill bag that are just too flat. Tried a drug store insert but doesn't work in sandals.

Good afternoon Dog Days,
Rob and Ted did not get time yesterday to make anything with the peaches. But they did can the Pickle beets!!! Ted is down stairs now so maybe he is making something out of the peaches. He likes to stay busy. Or he might just be cleaning the basement up! I just saw Ted go past the front of the deck and he had what looked like hot peppers in his hands. Maybe he is going to try to make more hot Peach jam. He saw how to make it with Rob.
I put Jacks bean bag chair up on Jacks bed this morning and laid a small quilt in it and Antonio saw It and laid down in it and is sleeping there still!!! I still feel better today!!! I will keep using the nose spray today!!!! Baby boy just woke up and came in here crying and got up in my lap! He wants to go back to bed with Sammy and in the room with him!

It came a good hard rain for over an hour this morning so I never got out the door to the gym. Have also not felt good all afternoon and lay on the couch with a blanket over me shaking. I may have a little fever.
Good night all.

Hello, friends!
I heard from Linda today on FB. She is fine, just busy. She is keeping up with us by reading occasionally.
Lucy, hope you feel better soon! Fever doesn't sound good!
I haven't done a lot today. I've been trying to figure out how to move the photographs from my phone to my computer. I've read "how to" on Google, and even called my daughter at work. I've even downloaded the app, but still no luck. I'm beginning to wonder if my phone is "locked" against doing it. I had that trouble when we arrived in Germany ... they couldn't put a new sim card in my phone because it was locked by my provider.
I did two loads of laundry. There are also some things that I need to do that I don't want to do ... you know how that goes!
Anyway, here are my journal entries for days 7 and 8.
From My Journal Days 7 and 8:
Day 7: This morning we got our gear together to go south to the Moselle Valley, specifically Spangdahlem Air Force Base where Drew was stationed 21 years ago. It’s approximately three hours away by car. Drew picked us up about 1 p.m., and we got on the road about 3 p.m. We passed through the flat areas where Drew and Amanda live; then, gradually, into the hilly area in the south. Much like driving from northern Missouri into the Ozark Mountains. We made one stop on the way at a gas station that had a McDonald’s. The toilets are pay toilets – usually 50 Euro cents or 1 Euro, then a coupon is given to the person to go toward a purchase in the store.
Upon arrival, after check-in at the Spangdahlem Air Force Base, we went to the commissary to pick up some food supplies. Drew, Alex and Michaela took the supplies to the apartment, and Amanda and I wandered around the BX. Drew helped me find Sony noise-cancelling headphones for the trip back. I’m looking forward to using them rather than the ear plugs that we used on the way over.
After supper at the Pizza Hut (They have ice!!! Everything else was closed by that time.), we went to the apartment and talked until well past midnight. I had not known what a trial it has been for the kids to live out on the economy with, really, no support group. Having to shop at German stores, get help from people who can’t understand them, it’s very difficult. Some days they are so frustrated that it’s difficult to go on. Clerks in some stores become angry when the kids can’t understand what they are saying about the cost of something or a description of something. When Drew got hurt and had to go to a local doctor, there was a language barrier. It was brought to our attention that the military refuses to help them because they are labeled "Remote" in the files. The military personnel (pharmacy, doctors, etc.), unless they are taken to task by the Colonel, refuse to stock the medications the family needs, or provide it when it is requested – even though there is a valid prescription. It has been very difficult for them.
No air conditioning here either.
Day 8: Reveille at 7 a.m. What a surprise! Jets flying over! Wow! Can you imagine how it must have felt to hear those flying over if the person hearing was in a war? Scary! Breakfast of boiled eggs (no salt – forgot to buy), coffee, and OJ. Also, All Bran we brought along with half-n-half and trail mix.
Alex and Michaela went off to the playground. At 14, she is such a combination of child and woman!
We had a great lunch at the BX – nice to be in air conditioning and have bathrooms at the ready. We shopped a bit, went back to the apartment for a little while, then left for Trier.
Trier is a southwestern German city in the Moselle wine region, near the Luxembourg border. It has an approximate population of 105,000. The nearest city is Luxembourg. It sits in a hollow midway along the Moselle valley, with the most significant portion of the city on the east bank of the river. Wooded and vineyard-covered slopes stretch up to the Hunsrück plateau in the south and the Eifel in the north. It may be the oldest city in Germany. The historical record describes the Roman Empire subduing the Treveri in the 1st century B.C. and establishing Augusta Treverorum in 16 B.C. It contains several well-preserved Roman structures like the Porta Nigra gate, the ruins of Roman baths, an amphitheater just outside the center and a stone bridge over the Moselle River. The Archaeological Museum displays Roman artifacts. Among Trier’s many Catholic churches is Trier Cathedral.
In June 1940 over 60,000 British prisoners of war, captured at Dunkirk and Northern France, were marched to Trier, which became a staging post for British soldiers headed for German prisoner-of-war camps. Trier was heavily bombed and bombarded in 1944 during World War II. The city became part of the new state of Rhineland-Palatinate after the war. The university, dissolved in 1797, was restarted in the 1970s, while the Cathedral of Trier was reopened in 1974. Trier officially celebrated its 2,000th anniversary in 1984.
It’s disappointing that it is so very hot. We get tired before we’ve seen it all! We visited the Porta Nigra Gate, walked the cobblestone plaza, and took pictures of the Cathedral. Unfortunately, we were too late to go inside. We bought a book about the city and had supper at McDonald’s. We’ve eaten more at McDonald’s here than we do at home!
On the way out of town, we drove tiny streets to reach the Virgin Mary Column. We had a typical “family misadventure” when we got on a tiny road that ran parallel to the road we were supposed to be on. At the end, there was no place to turn around, so Drew had to reverse and back about ½ to ¾ of a mile back to the parking lot where the two roads merged. The little “wrong” road was bordered with blackberry vines that scratched the sides of the car. I didn’t make the climb to see the Virgin Mary Column and the view, but Alex did. He said he had to stop a few times on the way up to catch his breath. He said the view of Trier from that height was quite beautiful. Back at the parking lot, Amanda insisted that they pick a few of the blackberries!
We returned to Base about 11:30 p.m. and were ready to turn in right away. The heat saps all energy from us. There was a party in one of the apartments on the side of Drew and Amanda’s room. Noise up until 2:30 a.m.
