Good Morning Marm and LTMs,
This morning in Starkville, MS it was 72º and going up to 87º with scattered clouds and the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon with winds light and variable. Besides gusty winds, small hail is possible in some storms.
MJ took Rachael to Urgent Care Tuesday and they said the strep test was negative, but she still isn’t feeling very good, so she may need another trip there. She was going to help start packing but hasn’t felt up to anything yet.
Yesterday when MJ and Hannah were on their way back from taking the dogs to Lincoln. Hannah said they had stopped at a “pet friendly” motel Wednesday night. As they were leaving their room a 12” snake tried to come in, so they decided not to stay there and ended up driving most of the night. I’m not sure where they are right now but they were talking about getting a place to sleep before they come all the way back. The latest word was that they should be here by 2:00 PM today.
MAXINE CALENDAR: Fri 8/17: Apparently, it’s “National Happiness Happens Month.” I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.
PEANUTS CALENDAR: Fri 8/17: THE DAILY EXTRA: 10 Years Ago on This Date . . . August 17, 2008 Swimmer Michael Phelps won a gold medal in the 400-meter medley relay, becoming he first athlete to win eight gold medals in a single Olympic Games.

Doris, no way I'd have stayed in that motel either. That would've totally freaked me out.
Just finished the laundry. Now to sit awhile and watch the noon news before tackling something else. Always nice to have a day off and just stay home and get things done. As usual I walked first thing. DH is working another long day. I thought he'd be exhausted yesterday after working 7-4 but he said he felt energized. It may catch up with him by time he gets off work today. Going back to work has really been good for him. He's really enjoying it. Next week he'll be back to just working mornings four days a week.

Hello, all LTMs,
Doris, I would probably have asked for another room, but I am getting used to seeing snakes around. Definitely NOT coming in my house, though! But, depending on where you are, keeping them away may be impossible. Here, black racers are common, and though I get startled by them because they're so quick, I am not afraid of them. We also have rat snakes around, which are also "good" snakes, and aptly named. W/ lots of open areas, lots of palm trees, etc., they make sure we don't have rats. I will take a snake over a rat any day!
I did some weeding earlier, actually quite a bit, and sprayed all the stoned foundation beds w/ Round Up. I also put down Preen, and juts hope it works. I know it's for preemergence weed seeds, and many of OUR weeds are spread through the root system. If it at least HELPS, I will be happy.
I have talked w/ my #2 son & my grandson, and wished both a happy birthday. Hoping I can video chat w/ DGGD Madi later. I like to be careful when I call since DGS is a police officer who works 5 P.M. to 5 A.M. I do NOT want to interrupt his sleep! Madi is 3 today.
I have turkey meatballs in the oven. I will freeze them after they bake & cool, then DH can add them to sauce for pasta while I am stuck in the lounge chair after my eye surgery. I'm trying to plan some easy meals for him to put together, since he will be "chief cook & bottle washer" for at least 3 days. He is good at grilling, not so good at planning.
They are taking the forms off the pool next door. I wish they were working inside, since the sooner they get done, the happier I will be. I don't mind the noise, I mind the mess!
Hoping everyone has a good day!

Rose Marie, I'm with you on that. I'll take snakes over rats anytime. I haven't seen a rat in years and never here but I heard that the western NY area where I used to live now has a big rat problem. We do have bull snakes and we've seen a couple prairie rattlers in our yard. Another place in western NY where we lived (Grand Island) there were a lot of some kind of garter snakes They're unsettling when you go to step and almost step on one but completely harmless.
Doris, MJ much be exhausted with all the driving she's been doing lately. I'll be praying for safe travel. And of course once she gets back to MS then there's yet another trip back to NE and hopfully that will be the last one. Rachael should be fine.If not strep it's probably a viral infection which will go away on it's own. Have her gargle with salt water for the soreness. Tell her to get busy and help and it will take her mind off of the throat.
RM, happy birthday to your family members that are having birthdays. Yes I'd be making foods for dh to use too if I were going to be incapacitated for a couple days. He's a good cook but I'd want to have things ready.
Gareth it sounds like both you and your dh like to stay busy and productive. I'm just the opposite. I never liked having someplace I HAD to be including a job but of course, as a responsible person I did it and am glad I no longer have to. Now if I want to work anywhere I can just volunteer and even that I wouldn't do except if I could just do it when I felt like it and wasn't required to fit into a schedule.

Not much happening here. We had rain overnight & more today. Sun is shinning right now & it is very muggy.
It's been a crazy day so far. Two of my camping friends have been here with 'news' - maybe more like gossip. Since the campground annual letter came out everbody is talking. Linda & Roger are the most upset - actually R. I have decided he kind of likes to have the perfect situation but doesn't want to give anything for it. They were under the impression they had a very interested buyer for their trailer. I guess the party was here camping & decided they want it but not till next June. L & R were OK with that but the potential buyers went & asked the owners about staying on the same site as L & R are on now. Linda had explicitly asked them not to say anything to the owners. Well that has created a big upheaval. We also have a new neighbor that I was told is another seasonal. They aren't real close to us so shouldn't be a problem. Guess I'm a sounding board for these friends. Not the first time that has happened:)
In addition to the 11 new sites they are already working on there will 15 more new ones by mid 2019. The laundry facilities & shower/ restrooms will be remodeled & adding more washer/dryers. They are also planning a large expansion for perhaps seasonals only in the not too distant future. We may not be here by then.
We are going out for a fish fry with L & R tonight. I sort of wanted to go at noon but evening works better for Roger & it's not a big deal to us.
DH & I walked this morning - between showers. I'm not doing huge numbers these days. I had over 5000 yesterday & almost that again today so far. I may go again this afternoon.
Well I was interrupted & now it is time for me to start getting ready to go out to eat. See ya tomorrow....

Doris, Well I sure wouldn't be staying at motel either. Heck snake could end up in bed to. No Way~~Good that MJ is younger and able to drive long distance. I'm sure more awake and ect once seen that snake to.
Gareth*, so good that hubby still is working some. don't think he has a whole lot to kill his time when not working. Makes a big difference. And well liked. My hubby had tons of things. Ask many times to go back to work his own hr'sand est.
Roe Marie*, We have enough snakes here I know. nothing I've seen but a little harmless and that has been hardly ever. Except when older DC catch them in the field and put down for a race. We also have weeds that grow from the root and keeps going. I would same get things ready for hubby fix meals.
Ruth, Yeah good for snakes to get rid of Rats. but wouldn't want either in my house. We have gardeners here, Harmless, Something never see unless certain which I'm not.
Marlene*, Hate hearing those things people unhappy. If I was the owner I would have to be honest to. And not to be new ones would be upset when ended elsewhere after they bought trailer. I couldn't lie. A shame friends think they should. Yum, Fish Fry sound so good.
No big deal here. DH wanted to run someplace this morning before he left for work. so I said HL so I could get the paint needed and a stop @ pet store bought P 2 different chews to try out when mouth is healed. then I was back to do what I and so ready to be finished. Doing detailing now. That's my day. Neighbors DS at the house. So we went over to talk to him see how she is doing is new place. so,so, Tell those kids have such a good attitude about it all and not like most upset about it all. Get that all from there Dad. As he was more relaxed. Sleep well Friends... Marm~~
