TOOT, TOOOOT! CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! Here comes the Train to Thinsville down the track and into your station so hop on board and enjoy the ride.
This morning in Starkville, MS it was 72Âş and going up to 87Âş with scattered clouds and the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon with winds light and variable. Besides gusty winds, small hail is possible in some storms.
MJ took Rachael to Urgent Care Tuesday and they said the strep test was negative, but she still isn’t feeling very good, so she may need another trip there. She was going to help start packing but hasn’t felt up to anything yet.
Yesterday when MJ and Hannah were on their way back from taking the dogs to Lincoln. Hannah said they had stopped at a “pet friendly” motel Wednesday night. As they were leaving their room a 12” snake tried to come in, so they decided not to stay there and ended up driving most of the night. I’m not sure where they are right now but they were talking about getting a place to sleep before they come all the way back. The latest word was that they should be here by 2:00 PM today.
MAXINE CALENDAR: Fri 8/17: Apparently, it’s “National Happiness Happens Month.” I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.
PEANUTS CALENDAR: Fri 8/17: THE DAILY EXTRA: 10 Years Ago on This Date . . . August 17, 2008 Swimmer Michael Phelps won a gold medal in the 400-meter medley relay, becoming he first athlete to win eight gold medals in a single Olympic Games.

Good morning!
72Âş to 90Âş today with heat index of over 100Âş. We had big storms yesterday evening, but today it is just gently raining. DGD and her dad got the truck last night, and will be here this morning. She is due to move out and into her own apartment today, and we all hope that happens on schedule. That family always runs late, though. Sigh...
School starts for her on Monday, so she should be ready by then! She is taking some furniture from our house, and that will help with our down sizing.
Doris, hope your plans work out. At least you know where you are going. This house sounds much better than the last one.
Prayers for health and safety for all! Diane

Phyl,
Congratulations on another loss this week. You are doing great.
I hope last night was the last pet hotel we will need for a long time. We'll be happy to get settled in the house and not have to think about moving again for a long time. I think this house will be a good one for us.

Cat,
Its good to hear the smoke has lifted. That should make it feel a lot better.
I know MJ and Hannah will be glad to be back and know that this should be our last long trip for a while anyway.

Diane,
I hope the rain makes it feel a bit cooler instead of more humid.
I know we will all feel much better when we get settled in and have the girls in their schools. They will be a week late starting, but I don't think that will be a problem for them.

I agree with Connie, it just wears me out thinking what all MJ and Hannah are doing. I hope by now they are back. If you need a moving dollie and bungie cord we have that and can help unload. It's a small dollie.
Our DGD#3 just stopped by. College starts Monday and she was doing a bit of visiting before going back to the grind. Our cousin from Colorado and my brother and wife are coming soon. I made candied pecans, buns, pork and we have peaches in case someone wants to eat.

Helen,
I had a post almost ready to send and it disappeared out in cyber space somewhere - very frustrating.
We will appreciate all the help we can get with moving in to our house. MJ got the key and was able to leave the dog cages in the house. We will appreciate the use of your air mattresses I'm sure. I think I'll be able to sleep on the sofa temporarily since my bedroom is the only one downstairs.
They have been having trouble finding a U-Haul and had to go a couple of hours away to get one so we haven't heard back from them in a while.
Rachael and Sarah just took a break from packing and made Ramen noodles for their lunch. I had a nutritious lunch of cookies and coffee but didn't really feel hungry - I'll make up for it at supper time I'm sure.

Helen,
I'm back and just had a call from MJ. She said she was told they can't put a hitch on her car, so I don't know what we will be doing. She said they will call again later. I know we can't afford to buy all new stuff. The only income we have right now is my retirement which is meant for one person. We've never been in a predicament like this and we don't know what to do.

doris is there anybody who can help drive if you rented a small u-haul truck.
I think there is different price if the u-haul is brung back to the place it is rented from. not sure that may have change over the years. I wish mj's lawyer could make king pay for some of this. phyl

Phyl,
We wish too that King could be made to pay, but so far that hasn't been done. I can't say anymore about this, just that it is very frustrating.
I guess the only thing we can do is go into debt because we have to have some things to put in the house. Fortunately there is a washer and dryer, and kitchen appliances.
Of course once we are settled in MJ hopes to find work too.

Doris, I've seen u-haul trucks towing a car. Would that work?
We are finally home from moving Anne into her apartment and that was just across the city. We're worn out.
Prayers and hugs. Diane

diane I do not think all 5 people would fit in the front of the u-hual cab. no one would be allowed to ride in the towing car. phyl

Diane,
I agree that it sounds good, but I think Phyl is right.
I've come to terms with going further into debt and that's what we'll do.
