Happy Day All!
We have a rainy weekend ahead - started about midnight last night with a huge, loud thunderstorm. Our power must have gone out for while as everything is blinking this morning and needs to be reset. Charlie's very disappointed we're not walking. I may have a go at it in a few minutes, but will stay close to the house rather than way down the hill. Definitely cannot run up the hill in the rain - oh no! Also, I've been having several of those barometric headaches the last 24 hours with this front coming in. Yuck.
Nothing planned today except laundry and making some peach sorbet for DH. I love fresh peaches, but not crazy about peach ice cream, cobbler, etc. Will ask him whether he wants cobbler or sorbet.
BettyJ - what a cutie that Ozzie is! Saw the picture on Owls.
Dayle - can't wait to see the doll house progress.
Lin - hoping you are feeling better today. Is your fever down this morning?
DH can finally see the end of the tunnel I think with his back ache. I got him some of the Salonpas patches with lidocaine.
Oh - almost forgot - my niece, a nurse practitioner and who teaches the BSN program at a private college said to get a flu shot earlier - it's apparently starting already. That's just for what it's worth. I am going to see if anyone has them here yet.
Must get Charlie in before he gets too wet - rain starting again.
Have a great day!

Good morning Penny and everyone else. Wish we were getting the rain. Hazy this morning. They say because of the Canadian wildfires . Sometimes it even smells smoky.
Did anyone notice the moon last night. I was out about 10 and it was a bright orange. Almost like a harvest moon . That may be because of smoke too.
Taking Ozzie to the vet this morning. He continues to have a dry cough. Want it checked
Granddaughters birthday dinner tonight. No other plans for the day.

Good Morning Folks
Betty - Adorable Ozzie looks comfortable on his nice new pillow.
FYI - For those who remember Wayne Oates who used to start this thread ..... I saw on FB that he and wife Norma were celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Posted by their daughter with a nice picture of them.
Don't know what I'll get into today. Everyone do have a Satisfying Saturday.

I remember Wayne, congratulations to them. I remember Norma had some health problems. I wonder if they still have custody of the grands. That was a big responsibility to take on.
Not much going on here. There is a luau I can attend this evening, but not sure if I will.
Peggy, isn't the new Finn pup adorable?
Time to do something, not sure what. Just another summer day in NE Florida.

Nice to hear some news about Wayne and Norma. We always wonder about our past posters and he did start this thread. Very early in morning!! He was ex military and a very busy man.
there are some really huge white clouds in the sky this morning and some blue skies. Been awhile to see the blue skies. Has been overcast forever. We did get rain most of the night and that has been a long time coming. Seems like all around us has gotten some but us. And not too far either. Guess it was finally our time. Too late for my impatients. Will not plant them next year they are too touchy for our summer weather. especially around my mailbox.!!! Going to pull them and put in some artificial something. Have to stop at Dollar store next week. don't shop on weekends.
watching the squirrels in the front yard, good, stay away from my back yard and the finch feeder. Thinking the small one won't fit on there soon. He is getting chubby. He wraps his whole body around the round feeder and scoops it out of the small hole. Think he may get his paw caught in there one of these times.
No plans for today yet. Feeling yuk so far so moving slowly. Headache still there but dull now.
hadn't heard anything on the flu shot but do get it at my Dr office clinic. so will be watching for information. Almost time for my 2nd shingles shot though. and pharmacy will send me a card.

My sister was transferred from ICU to a Hospice facility last night. I'm going to see her Sunday through Tuesday. hb's caregiver is staying with hb. He's not available overnight, and this was one of those mysterious things that is working out. I'm working on plans to be able to go back and forth as needed.
DS had been in the hospital for two weeks, then had a respiratory crisis and was sent to ICU. I wasn't told until her second day in ICU. Shes been keeping secrets intimidating her male friend who is not her boyfriend and telling him not to tell me. My younger DD was on her way there immediately and has been piecing the story together bit by bit.
My older DD and I will be there tomorrow. Younger DD is going home to take her kids to school on the Monday, the first day. She may return after we leave.
The prognosis is very poor - a few days to a few months. It's very complicated and a very long story. She has COPD and hasn't smoked in twenty years, also lots of additional health problems.

Good morning everyone,
Getting somewhat cooler. High of 91 today. Humidity is still an issue.
We had a good time yesterday visiting with friends. Today staying home. Might do gardening. Not sure yet. Going to vacuum inside first.
Feeling good and full of energy.
Penny- wish we had some of your rain
Connie- a doctor told me to not have shingles vaccine. I guess something in it won't agree with me. I also cannot have flu vaccine. I refused the phemonia vaccine. Many have had issues with that one. Having shot/needle phobia does not help matters at all. Easy to skip them. Pray I never catch the illnesses.
Geri- I enjoyed the Luau when I was in Hawaii for 6 weeks helping opening up a restaurant.

Morning All!
Betty wish we could have seen the moon last night, but had another 4+ hour batch of major storms. Poor Lily she curled up next to me so tight we were putting out major body heat together. Had a cramp in my shoulder and was afraid to move – didn’t want to disturb her. This weather pattern is terrible. Can’t believe how long its lasted. Heard on the news this morning 8 out of the last 10 weekends have been rained out this year. Hopefully it won’t hurt business at the Jersey Shore where they only have a limited amount of time to make a living. By the way that little Ozzie is adorable and looks a bit pampered as well. Hope the vet can figure out and help his dry cough today.
Lin hope you are feeling a bit better today. A fever doesn’t sound good. Maybe a sinus infection. .. . Take care of yourself please.
Phyl what is paper piecing? I know it’s a popular form of quilting these days – instead of cutting individual pieces out and hand stitching them together. But if you could explain, that would be helpful. I can’t see well enough to quilt anymore, but am always interested in how new techniques work. . . .
Thanks for the info on Wayne, Peggy Sue. He is a special guy and has had more than his share of trouble. Norma had some major health issues and taking on his grandkids was a major energy draining task for him . His artwork and his church provided solace in a world that wasn’t treating him too well. If I can I will post a message sending my good wishes to him today.
Sue sorry to hear about your sister. It does sound like the family is gathering around to help provide support. Hope she is not in too much pain and the hospice will make her comfortable.
Well I don’t have many chores to do so that means I can go hide out in my cubby and work on my doll house. Funny comment after I posted the picture on FB. One of my old coworkers thought I was building a coffin. I guess you could say it looks kind of like that. I told him it would look better and more like a house, once I got the roof shingled – which is my next part of the project. My niece had so much fun working with me on the trim that she wants to do more. She was really good at laying things out, so I may just let her dig in and help. I bought a small model of a green house last year, opened it up and found the directions are written in Chinese. I promptly put everything back in the box and said to myself – later. May give that to her to see if she can make sense out of it. A green house next to my dollhouse would look rather nice, don’t you think?
Everyone enjoy their day and do something fun!

Sue - so very sorry to hear about your sister. I hate it when family keeps things like that from us. I know they're trying to spare us, but to me it adds to the confusion and hurt. I know you'll be a comfort to her. Also so glad the care giver can stay with DH. Someone is looking out for you, I know. Take care and keep your chin up if you can. Hugs.

Sue, so sorry about your sister. You did not need another thing. Take care.
Betty, the smoke pattern goes clear to the Atlantic. Hope they get some rain in BC soon.
Geri, Finn's pup is cute.
glad to hear good news about Wayne. Anybody know anything about Art?
feel better today, just tired..probably viral sinus thing which you just outlive. Antibiotics won't work. Wish I had known that years ago. Wish I had known Citroen is bad for you. I had better clean out the closet in the other bedroom where I keep my stuff and other items. DH sleeps there as I thrash about hot or sore and we snore from allergy sometimes. Well We pick up DN Thursday at airport and keep him for the day then deliver him to his aunt and uncle and cousins nearby to stay. She has chemo that day...we might end up with him overnight but they say not. She insists she will be ok.and invited him for ten days so he could see what AZ summer is like...although it is only 105 then. I will transfer the coats to the bedroom to make space in the hall closet next to the library (a third bedroom really with no closer because we opted for den with door on different wall) where the inflated bed will go. dH slept on it in his computer room last spring when sister came. I better empty a drawer in big secretary desk.
This is not my best time for houseguests between weather headaches and allergies.
