Good morning Ginny, Thanks for starting us off for yet another wonderful week. Good morning to Meg, Phyl, CJ, Karen, and those that just read
I got a lot done on the Christmas tree skirt yesterday and am up to the point where I have just one more row of increases then just do the brick stitch until the whole thing is 3feet in diameter then I wait till I hear how wide they want the finished skirt to be. The rows are extremely long now. 88 brick stitches and will soon be 117 and each brick stitch is comprised of 4 stitches. Luckily you just work into the brick stitches for the rows made just to add width to the skirt. Still it takes forever to just complete each row. Nice and easy to watch tv while doing it.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and week ahead.

Thank you for that info Phyl. Yes from what was said, the school the girls woulld have had to attend in MS was not a good one at all. It sounded as if it was very overcrowded and also filled with those that may have meant harm to the other students.Court order to move back to NE was strange.I wonder if they looked into that to see if it was a real court order but then I think they wanted to move back anyway mostly because of the school but there may have been other reasons too.

Ruth, sounds as though you are making major headway on the tree skirt! Do you start from the outside and work in (decreasing) or from the inside and work out (increasing).? Congrats on getting so much done, and it does indeed sound as though you have gotten the hang of the pattern!!
Phyl- so sorry that the bug bites are so bad! SImply amazing how tiny little insects can leave a large impact on us like that. Hope that your class gives you the inspiration to finish the santas. Its tough having UFO’s and not having the desire to complete.
Been an odd day....Dd #1 stopped over. SHe is a high energy person and can be very stressful to be with at times. Normally when she leaves, its sort of like a category 4 hurricane came through.... with cleanup and reconstruction of raw nerves necessary. Been one of those days
Hope that tonight is more calm. G

Ginny, I'll be praying for calm evening for you.
The tree skirt starts at the middle and works out. Ddil messaged and said oh I think 4 or 5 feet. I was hoping they'd consider how large their tree is and where they have it sitting and decide how far out they want the skirt to come but I'll make it to 4 feet and see what I think since I didn't get a more definite answer. I have no idea what size tree they have but I would think a pretty large one. This is a nice tree skirt so when I get time I may have to use a smaller hook and yarn and make a small one for our quite small tree. Last year I didn't even sit it out. Don't know what this Christmas will be like because of some of the grands moving out of town etc but we'll see what happens when the time comes. Do you know what the diameter was of the tree skirt you made for your dd, Ginny?

Hello Crafters Phyl - Your tour of homes sounds like it was fun. Years ago I toured some homes like that on the Outer Banks in North Carolina, it was enjoyable. Meg - I'm glad your enjoying some time to yourself. I haven't been doing any baking since I'm trying to get off the weight I gained back in July when I was overeating a lot. Hopefully I can do some again in the Fall. Ginny - Sorry to hear about the stress of a visit from your DD, hope you get some rest tonight. Ruth - I'm glad you are making progress on the Christmas tree skirt. It's cooler here and cloudy today. I didn't even need the AC on all the time, since I was actually getting cold I did some clearing in my sewing room last night. I had a few projects that were just laying around and I was tired of looking at them. Now I see that I have 2 quilt tops that I want to put borders on and then the other small pieces I'd like to get ready for hand quilting. Tonight is the Kid's Baking Championship on the Food Network for those that enjoy watching the kids bake. Take care everyone!

hi, ruth the soon to be ex has 5 degrees not sure if all of them are in some type of law or not and very very tech savy. so he knows how to get around things.
I don't know if they just left for ms or needed his permission. I do know there are laws about divorce parent taking kids across the state line without the other parent's knowledge.also some kind of law even for a married parent taking kids across state lines or out of the country and the other parent has no knowledge.
course every state has their own laws.
cj thanks for reminding me about the kids bake off.phyl

I can measure the diameter of my tree skirt, which is the same size as I made forDd. Thanks for the prayers...
CJ- glad you were able to keep the AC off....this cooler weather sure is nice!
Phhyl- I aam pretty sure that the non custodial parent cannot take a child across any state line- but then I am not an attorney.
Evening calmed down a bit. So thankful for that G

Ginny, when these people separated the husband and father left and left the children with their mom and grandmother. There hasn't been a divorce yet to no one has court ordered custody. The man didn't pay mortgage payments but didn't tell his soon to be ex and one day they got a foreclosure notice and told they had to be out of the house on a certain date so since they had lived in MS before and have family there they decided to move there. Well they were hardly there when the woman told her mother she got a court order to move back to NE because the father who hadn't sent any child support decided he wanted joint custody. I guess from the way they said that that there was some kind of order for him to pay some child support although since he didn't work I don't know where he would have gotten the money. Yes he graduated from law school but from what this woman and her dd have said on the board, he hasn't worked as a lawyer and hasn't even passed the bar exam even though he claimed to have taken it again just last year. Of course he claimed he had a job too and it turned out he didn't.It's really sad because the woman that post's over on over 60's is a wonderful woman in her eighties and has helped these people for years and this is the thanks she gets. She's now supporting the whole family. Also the man used to post now and then and set himself up as this caring and loving man.Phyl has met him as did Phyl's husband. Phyl's husband didn't like him much so he had better insight than most. Yes he did have money he inherited from his mother but when married it's family money not all his and he seems to have spent it all somehow. I usually don't post things like this but they've posted it all on the other board and since Phyl brought it up...well. And yes, Phyl, he certainly could be lurking on the board watching to see what's said and I bet he knows how to get around facebook privacy settings too.
CJ, I'm glad you got to watch the Kid's baking show. Cooking shows make me want to eat I'm glad it's cooling down there too I know you and Ginny like it cooler.
Ginny, I'm glad things quieted down some and you got some relaxation time...I hope anyway

Indeed its become a very sad state of affairs for many households, and when the kids are held hostage (not literally, but you know what I mean) its a shame. You just have to hope that the best possible good comes out of this situation for the sake of the children.
My dryer died yesterday. Gotta call the repair man today.
Hope to get to BIble study in a little bit. And I did get some crochetting done last night. Ginny

Looks like the dryer will be repaired Monday at the latest. Thankfully we are supposed to have sunny weather for a few days and I do not mind hanging out the laundry! Got to study- a nice study on humility.....a very good reminder for me and a message I needed to hear.
I do have to attend a safety meeting this evening- as I do intend to substitiute drive when I feel like it. So I will get to crochet, but that will be much later on in the day.
CJ- how was the kids baking show last night? G

Good morning all. Ginny, I Hope you dryer can be successfully repaired. I should hang out clothes more often. It's so dry here that they do dry fast. I think I'm the only one in the neighborhood that still has a clothes line.
It's cool here today. It hasn't hit 60 yet although the forecast says high of 80.
we're probably going out tomorrow so I'll get everything ready and may do some baking too.
I ended up having to take out two rows last night. I made a mistake in the first stitch of that previous row so had to take out both to get back there. It's up to just under 450 stitches/row now so 900 is a lot of stitches to have to do over but things like that happen. Some can be corrected and no one would notice but this one was not one of those. I'll be crocheting today too, Ginny, so we can pretend we're crocheting together. I'll make the tea and bake some cookies for us to eat while doing that. The rest of you come over too and bring whatever project you want to work on. Well that would be nice

THe invitation to come over and have a cup of tea while we crochet is so comforting!!! Dang, wish we could do that- even just once a month. But it would take me a month to get to your house, Ruth. So sorry that you have to rip out so much and recrochet so much. That is a lot of stitches! Are the stitches small? I cannot imagine having to count so much, which I think would drive me buggy. The good part of this is that you have plenty of time to make this tree skirt before Christmas- so there is time to make corrections! I am sure it will be so pretty when you are done!
Had to attend a safety meeting last night (for work, in the event that I substitute drive). Mentally I can already see that I have “checked out”- and really want little to do with the place. Many changes were made over the summer that I am very glad I do not have to help implement. And they changed the way buses are assigned, so I would have had to take a much shorter route to get my nice air conditioned bus this year. I am glad I am retired....and will work on occasion if they ask.
Did get some crochetting in. But we started cleaning out the attic- a huge job.
Ok enough babbling for this am. Hi to Meg, CJ, Phyl and Karen. Prayers for Mollie Tibbets family- I was very saddened to hear how that case ended and that she lost her life. All life is precious- I just cannot imagine why someone would want to rob someone of theirs.

Ginny, yes it's a very sad thing when people can't go out jogging safely. And at such a young age to lose her life. I'm glad they found her body though. So many go missing and are never found. I keep thinking of a young woman here who disappeared and was never found and three little boys that disappeared in I think MN or Michigan some place like that and it was never mentioned again. Oh and also a toddler girl that was allegedly taken from her bed during the night...none of those were found or at least it wasn't reported that they were.
Your attic cleaning sounds like our garage cleaning. It's going to be a real job for both of us I think.
Feels like fall is here but dh says that in a couple days it's to get back up to 90 again.
Well today I will definitely get ready to go out tomorrow. No more putting it off.
I didn't work on the tree skirt yesterday at all. Instead I made the dgd who's bday is today a cute pencil case to go in the "Frozen" back pack I got her. Now I need to go and send her mom a message to tell her happy birthday from Grandpa and me.
