WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C89D13. every morsel tracked, 12 points, 4 rollovers, 7 water, 1195 calories, 13,749 steps.
Early morning walk with friend, subsequent walk in mall, then circled community with friend early evening.
Jan – Yep – DS-NJ is staying with DH. So next time you go out like that, think about my new method and give it a try, i.e. isolate the meal but before you go, track the whole rest of the day. So when you get home you know exactly what to have – and mentally you didn’t screw up because you've followed your plan. Worth a try?
Jane – What you say is an interesting approach to the scale. There's a lady at our meetings that, when they ask who's celebrating, says "down 89 lbs" compared to most of us who say down .6. She thinks in terms of the big picture regardless of whatever lbs she gained or lost that week. BTW I agree wholeheartedly that you are doing REALLY REALLY well.
Meg – Hurray for a LP day. Wishing you a back to back.
Lori – Half the cost is amazing – not eating at the BBQ even more amazing. I had the Quest cake tonight. It was pretty good. I was surprised it didn’t rise higher. Is yours pretty thin? What I did was to have half tonight – cake and icing. I cut that half in half and made it like a sandwich with a generous amount of icing in between the two halves and also on top. Then I ate it with a knife and fork. Is that kind of what you do? Looking forward to the other half tomorrow night.

Good morning. I got myself back on track yesterday. I did get my run in, rain-free surprisingly. I stuck close to home, deviating from my usual Tuesday route in case the skies opened up again.
Our second soccer game of the season was last night. They won 6-1, with Alex scoring 2 of the goals. Yay!
Lori, how exciting about the time share! And yes, it’s so much easier to stay on plan when I take the time to plan and make fun foods.
Meg, I think it’s important that even when we mess up in this journey, we stay mindful of how far we’ve come. I’m definitely still a work in progress with the whole “I blew it” mindset.

Jane, I like how positive you’re staying. Eight pounds in under 2 months is an accomplishment.
Nancy, I stayed OP right up until dinner out, so I did that right. I’ll keep working on it. I think part of my problem was that I didn’t really plan to go to dinner, so I had no plan for after in place. Lesson learned, I hope.

Jan - Congrats to Alex. That's awesome!! I meant DS-NJ is staying with DH. I had written DS-Ohio but corrected it.

Good Morning BFFs,
I was so tired this morning (not sure why), slept as late as possible, so no treadmill and boy do I feel the difference. Can't seem to get going....The weather is pretty dreary so that can be part of it..
Nancy, Wonderful step count!! I like the way that member is looking at the Big picture!! Yes, that's how I eat it as my weekend treat. The Quest cake is about an inch thick (it can vary a little each time I make it) wonder if the type of milk made a little difference. If it comes out to thin, I just put the frosting on top. Last weekend I added a couple fresh strawberries and a few banana slices in the middle. I find it extremely filling and satisfying.
Jan, nice job getting right back on track. Yay, Alex!! Soccer season - a sign of Fall (already...)
Yesterday, I found out I have to work all day on Labor Day and the Saturday after (Registration Days)....that will be a long week.... This Friday will be my last Friday off....so sad...I will miss them...

I had a good, but not excellent day yesterday. I ate a late brunch with friends. I had a drink and bread, plus sweet potato/curry soup. Five hundred calories is my count for the first two items. I count 300 for the martini (in a cocktail glass) and 200 for the bread. Both were technically unnecessary. But, if I had it to do over again, I would have kept the martini. I enjoyed it and, for a while now, my drinks are small enough or made with a low-enough alcohol-content liquor (Campari), so that they do not impair my eating. I would have skipped the bread that came with the soup. It was a not special addition to an already tasty soup. It might have worked well for someone, unlike me, who is not trying to lose weight. Oddly enough, the bread, which I estimate was 200 calories, put me 200 calories over my calorie goal. I had not been planning to move much yesterday because I was tired. I ended up not being tired and walked slightly in excess of 11, 000 steps.
Today, I prepare for my meeting with my client. The meeting is about a 1 1/2 hour drive and theoretically occurs at 8 a.m. tomorrow. (Nothing in prisons runs on time.) It should be interesting. I think that there is about a 33 percent chance that tomorrow's meeting will lead to a parting of the ways. He is a very challenging client. He does not like lawyers, generally, and my last letter to him was pretty blunt. I am fine with or without him, but I will cut bait if I do not think that he will adhere to my advice. Tonight, I am going to dinner with a friend whom I have not seen in months. No matter what, I am coming in at 13,000 or fewer calories today. I have already spent a pleasant hour on the treadmill.
Nancy, thanks for your kind words. I am enamored of your idea of not only isolating a meal, which I have done, but of pre-planning the rest of the day! I think that is another way to ensure that there is no slipping after the isolated meal.
Jan, would you have done the run in real rain? I think so. Nonetheless, I am glad that you missed it. Go, Alex!
Meg, good for you on a letter perfect day. I hope that you are able to stop by more. Are you working outside home and your church activities?
Lori, so happy about your getting into the Sedona resort. As I have said before to you and to Meg, I love that place. I am hoping that when my grandchildren are older, the whole family will be able to vacation together at some type of family-friendly resort in a location like Sedona. Resorts, in general, are high on my list. (I cannot say that I have much resort experience, but I want to obtain more!) Ah, these private schools and their schedules...
Hi to everybody else. Let's all be binge free today.
Jane
