WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C89D14, every morsel tracked, 19 points, 4 rollovers, 5 water, 1189 calories
Just line dancing this morning, no other exercise
Had my piano tuned today. Sounds lovely now.
Jan – Every mishap that results in a lesson learned is an NSV.
Lori – Hmmm, I had a banana on my day’s plan but hadn’t eaten it, so I added it to my “dessert”. Made it huge. My cake is 5/8” thick. Not sure why, but it works to cut half in half and make it like a sandwich with the icing in the middle and on top. It is 177 calories though (298 with the banana) even though only 1 point, so I’ll be having it only on rare occasions. It was fun trying it out though.
Jane – Your life style is challenging from an eating perspective. More and more you’re learning to enjoy the social life while keeping the food / drinks under control. It’s important to remember that a 200 cal piece of bread isn’t going to sabotage your efforts at weight loss. It’s what we do afterwards that usually causes the trouble. That doesn’t seem to be one of your issues. I’d suggest you give yourself credit for handling all these restaurant meals so well. More and more you’ll learn to improve those situations even more and the scale will continue to notice.

I was again 200 calories over my goal yesterday, at least according to my likely inaccurate counting. However, even if that is not the precise number, and it is not, it is okay. It certainly is not much more and could be less. Incredibly for me, I walked over 13,200 steps. A good number were on the treadmill. However, I ended up going out in the evening, so that added about 2000-3000 steps that I had not anticipated. (In Brooklyn, I walk. Parking is nuts and public transportation is not necessarily pleasant.) However, eating out twice in a day is ridiculous. For dinner, in order to keep my calorie count from going way too high, I had spicy tuna tartare and a diet Coke with lemon. It was not bad. It also made for a very inexpensive dinner because my friend simply had baked trout, which came with salad. My scale is showing no difference at this morning from yesterday morning.
Nancy, thanks. I am learning, but I do want to change my lifestyle a bit. I am fascinated by your line dancing. (I had a blast doing line dancing on 2 family cruises; that was a bit more than a decade ago.) When you do it at home, do you have the music?
Hi to everyone else. I am rushing because I am about to get ready to go to visit an incarcerated client. My goal is to be at the prison at 8:00 and out by 10:30 a.m., which is when count starts. There is only about a 30 percent chance that this will work, but I am going to try to make a go of it. I really don't want to spend my whole day doing this.
Let's all be binge free today.
Jane

Good morning. I went to the orchard yesterday and got peaches, apples, and pears. I love buying my produce locally. I’ll get corn today, and I have tomatoes from people in class.
Jane, good luck at the prison today. I’ve never been inside one. Wow on your step count! Yes, I probably would have run in the rain. If it was an all out downpour, I would have waited and shortened the distance.
Nancy, do you leave tomorrow? What are your plans for the airport, especially if there’s a delay?
Lori, ugh on the Labor Day work schedule. A friend works in admissions at a local college, and this week is a nightmare for her.

Hi Everyone!
Yes, this is one of our busy times at work....especially since one of my coworkers is out sick and I'm picking up the slack... One good thing, not much time to even think about snacking...the scale this morning was 139...
Nancy, Yes- I do treat the quest cake as a treat and only add maybe a 1/4 banana and 2 strawberries, I'll use egg whites instead of an egg (to cut calories) and only have 1/2 the cake at a time...definitely better than having a real sliver of cake!! Jane, considering all the eating out you are doing excellent!! Good luck today! Jan, I will surely miss all the fresh veggies and fruit - I've been snacking on the little grape tomatoes. I can't even imagine registration time at a college. We're a small private school with about 470 students but I'm the only person that handles accounts receivables, student insurance, and manages the corporate credit card so that is enough!!
Hope everyone has a great day!! Lori
