WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C89D15, every morsel tracked, 14 points, 4 rollovers, 4 water, 1224 calories, 10,058 steps
Walked to and from table tennis and to Canasta and several short and medium walks in between. Also did a 15 minutes utube walking tape.
Today I weighed in at 137.5 (at home) – the lowest since August of 2013. All in all I’ve lost 8 lbs since I started counting calories. That was after months of a seemingly endless plateau.
Jane – Yes I have all the music on my ipad. For my classes, I have the ipad blue-toothed to a speaker. Works great! So how did your prison visit go?
Jan – I leave Saturday and return Tuesday. Thanks for reminding me to think about the airport. I think I’ll have a small breakfast at home, bring a premier shake for the car, a sandwich for the airport and a single serve pirate’s booty for the plane. Sometimes they give out a packet of two delicious biscotti (small). If so I’ll have those too – all in all about 600 calories and about 10 points. No idea what we’ll do for dinner, maybe home and maybe out. Whatever it is, I’ll track every morsel.
Lori – Your job sounds awesome. Everything I’d enjoy doing. Tonight I added 3 T SF cool whip to my yogurt/pudding, a nice addition for only 1 pt and 30 calories.

I did really well yesterday. My eating--which included two meals while driving to and from my client's correctional facility--was excellent. (I can remember eating a fair amount of junk food in various automobiles.) I logged in at 1265 calories for the day. I did not get 10,000 steps, but had 8000+.
Prison visit worked out well. My client would be the kind of guy with whom one could spend a pleasant and interesting evening were he not a serious criminal and in prison, likely for the rest of his life. Mental illness is a terrible thing. I believe that client truly believes that the murder for which he is incarcerated was committed by others and that there has been a 10-year coverup by law enforcement, courts, his own defense attorneys, etc. (Trust me, there was not.) Visiting a prison is sad and this is a maximum security facility, so inmates are there for long stretches. There were a lot of cute kids, not yet back in school, at the prison. They were with their moms (or other responsible adults), visiting their fathers.
Nancy and Lori, great weights!! I am impressed with the work that you are doing to be at and maintain them. Jan, I was up in farm country yesterday. I was peeved that, with all my traveling, I could not find a farm-stand selling fresh fruit and vegetables. Trust me, I was looking.
Hi to everyone else! I commit to being binge-free today.

TGIF! I am so sleepy this morning.
I’m taking our 14 year old dog to the vet today. She’s coughing so much more, and it seems like she’s going downhill fast. It’s so sad, watching it all happen.
Nancy, wow on your weight! I’ve heard it so many times from people in my field: counting calories doesn’t work. You are proof that it DOES. Great strategy for the airport and plane.
Jane, how very sad for your client. For years after we moved here I was unable to find a farm stand. We finally have a great one now, but it only opened a few years ago.
Lori, I’m with Nancy, those are things I enjoy doing as well, though I prefer payables to receivables. The craziness will be over before you know it.

Morning, BFF’s! This has been a busy week, but not the least bit stressful. I love being able to plan things on my own schedule. I have been able to take care of so many things that I never have time to do on the weekend. I think I would make a great, retired person! I’ve also done some work each day, but only those things I felt couldn’t wait, so no big deal. Yesterday, I had the appointment with my dentist about the tooth I cracked last weekend. I knew it had to come out. He referred me to the oral surgeon who was able to see me later in the day for an extraction and bone graft. I’m (finally) going to start the long process for implants. I may need a second job. Sorry if that’s TMI. Today, DH and I are going to head out east. DH has been wanting a peach pie since the beginning of summer and a co-worker of his recommended a family farm known for their produce and pies. We’ll probably stop at a seafood place for lunch. The weather is gorgeous.
Nancy - Have a wonderful trip! Let me know if you think you might be interested in getting together later in the week, maybe Thurs., or if we should think about another time altogether.
Lori - DH also gets Friday’s off during the summer and today is the last one. It’s always so sad.
Jane - That’s sad about your client in prison. Not to excuse his crime, but it’s sad that there are so few alternatives for people with mental illness.
Jan - The kayaking the other day sounded like fun. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m sorry about your dog.
Waving to Meg and Kathy!

Hi BFFs,
After my walk, DH and I Decided to take a drive to PA and stopped at an outside eatery for lunch. I had half a chicken panini w/ side salad and a couple of DH’s French fries. Tonight for dinner I had the other half of panini with some roasted veggies. Tomorrow will be running errands and some cooking for the week. Sunday, should be a nice relaxing day. Monday night we have our back to school dinner. That might be a challenge so hoping for a good strong weekend.
Jane, great job making good choices on your road trip. Must be hard on the kids visiting someone at the prison - my heart goes out to them. Can’t believe no farm stand....that’s a bummer. I’ve been eating grape tomatoes like candy...they are so good from the garden.
Jan, so sorry about your dog...hope you made out okay at the vet. I have to say I really love my job. I work on a beautiful campus, enjoy the work I do, have great co-workers, get free lunch and work 3 miles from home. No complaints here.
Edesia, glad you had a good, productive week. Sorry to here about the dental work. Hope you and DH enjoyed your day! Love my job but do enjoy three day weekends! They will be missed....
